  1. You need look no further than ubisoft for an example of cranking out samey open world games on short release schedule for how pokemon games are gonna end up if they don't slow down.

  2. I love scarlet and violet even with how poorly optimised they're but i wish they would of just gone right Legends arceus is all your getting this year, and just waited to release SV i feel if they just did that SV would of been some if not the best modern pokemon release.
I hope this is true and not just some corporate BS of "Oh we're sorry guys we will try better" but never actually do.

  3. Alternative title for that article: The Pokémon Company considers doing the sensible thing to do. 😂 In all seriousness, it'd be amazing if they did. All the meme compilations with atrocious bugs are entertaining and all, but it's horrifying to think it's a massive franchise lasting for literal decades. They can do better. A LOT better.

  4. There is currently no financial incentive to "slow down" the mainline games. 🙃 As much as I would be willing to wait for more quality, I am CLEARLY in the minority. Lol. The DLC is interesting and I hope it's worth the asking price. ;P

It's… kinda sad that I am legit excited for more of the recent series "Pokémon: Path to the Peak" (a series that is absolutely aimed at children) and Pokémon Horizons (been following the JP release since the start and hoping the English dub does come out soon). 😅

Like SURE, there are problems you can point out (and I can do the same) but they are no where knew as igregious and some are just nitpicks anyways.

Until i see the changes, I expect more of the same. If that is too happen, a lot has to happen and we wouldn't even see the changes take effect for a while anyways.

  5. slowing down goes hand in hand with higher quality releases e.g. giving the dev team behind the franchise more time to create a quality game instead of constantly doing release after release, putting out the same game for years and years.

  6. theres a big difference between discussing the slow down and actually doing, im sure they wont do it, i think pokemon games might lost fans in the future but the ip in other media formats wont.

  7. Finally. Imagine an actually beautiful and improved Pokémon every 4-5 years instead of what we’ve been getting. SW and SV look like literal 3ds games. Well they almost are with the amount of assets reused

  8. I would be okay with things slowing down.

I want the games to be good, not just out.

Pokemon is huge, not just ad a company but as a concept and it's only getting bigger with each release.

I think this would be a good decision. We don't need remakes anymore. We don't need to split the team between games for maximizing potential profits with subpar releases.

I want a pokemon game that wows me like Totk, or heck even Botw. If that takes time, then let them take it.

  9. 100% spot on Ed!! That’s something I’ve been saying since SWSH came out and in all honesty I’m at a point with the Pokémon franchise where I’ll only believe it when i see it

  10. We need them to slow down. I'd be happy not knowing about any new game until 2025. And if they took until 2026, all the better. A delayed game is eventually good but a rushed game is forever going to be bad. Of course this won't happen and we'll have the next game by 2024. Maybe even 2 games, who knows. We'll get a character t-posing with no animations at this rate

  11. We as fans need to be careful. Nowhere in the quote did he suggest slowing down. That is suggested in all the article names sharing the news. He actually specifically said they're trying to figure out how to not resort to that when trying to fix the quality issues.

  12. They probably realized that if all you have is unhappy fans, it could be a problem down the road. Might not affect the right away, due to their size, but in 10 years or so it'd probably be an issue.

Like, we can shit on ILCA all we want, but if you look at their material from the concept stage for BDSP, the game looks really different. A lot of stuff there was used on Legends instead, so there's a possibility that they not only got screwed by Game Freak's schedule, but also couldn't implement ideas that Game Freak themselves ended up using later.

The next game they released was One Piece Odyssey, which was pretty well recieved, and now they're working on the SandLand game. They could probably do better if given more time.

  13. They talked years ago about letting the younger generation take over and make games and they put out Let's Go, which was a great game other than not making the catching mechanic optional which I can see why they didn't but still. That was the last decent game with great graphics that we've seen for a while. Gen 8 and 9 were both janky messes and although they were fun, you can not overlook all the issues. I think slowing down would be a great idea. Maybe outsource like they were to other great companies again like Bandai Namco. But this is a great start.

  14. I mean, if TPC reeealy wants an awesome secod team for remakes and spinoffs so the core team can work on the main gens at a slower pace…there are probably several fangame teams that would be interested.

  15. While it’s “just discussions” I think the fact that these discussions are taking place is a good sign that they will actually go through with it. On the other hand if they actually take more time to put out a game and it’s the same shit they’ve been doing just with more delay than necessary, which is ACTUALLY a possibility, it might be enough to piss the fans off enough to actually stop buying games. While both will yield results id much prefer the former than the latter

  16. In terms of Pokémon having to stick to a strict time period of development for the sake of the marketing and stuff. I remember reading that Diamond and Pearl were delayed, which is why the Battle Frontier arc in the anime was made. Also, while I'm not sure if it's related, a lot of spin-off games came out before DP, not to mention how many times gen 4 Pokémon popped up in Gen 3 media like Munchlax, Bonsly, Lucario, Mime Jr., Weavile, Chatot and Buizel. Which honestly hyped me up for gen 4 so much. If they wanted to delay a game/ new gen they have strategies for it that they could easily use.

TLDR: They can use spin-offs and next gen Pokémon sneak peaks to delay games while keeping their marketing game steady.

  17. Slowing down for sure will be a great solution. Tho I think it's funny but also sad to see, that people say, Pokemon should delay games etc for better quality, but then complain, when the next Pokemon direct isn't showing anything "interesting"

  18. Obviously giving games more time to get bugs and issues like the game running is good, having fewer games worked on dividing what staff they have isn't a good thing. Not related but look at nijisanji en until recently having a urge to put out multiple groups and not really giving them time to build a viewer base before introducing more. Accelerate at your own risk.
