Giant Ancient Skeleton Crab is nightmare fuel I didn't need today…
They should make a game called subnautica primal devastation where you get to play in the past with these creatures
The Gargantuan skeleton could've crawled into the lost river looking for food honestly. I've seen dumb animals do dumb things. It likely crawled in from a hole in the void and got stuck and died while unable to leave. Especially considering how deep down it is, it's more likely to have crawled from the outside of the crater than ever swam into it.
i think theta actually refers to the ancient skeleton at the cache since they mention an "off-site" laboratory
Why didn't the creature in the ice that was infected with the bacteria from Below Zero appear on this list since while frozen and dead the dialogue suggested it was the last of it's kind?
The gargantuan is a massive creature and if my calculations are correct it would not survive in the water above 3km because of its size ,and energy needs to hunt would require a massive metabolism ,meaning it would need to eat its body weight in food over 48 hours ( 100s of sea dragons per day ).
Better chance it dwells at 4-8km depth and is an opportunistic hunter. Alike the colossal squid,
It would move very slowly and only use bursts of energy to get away from danger. It is however the largest thing by literal kilometers so it would not need to run away and likely has many electrical cells for defense ( why it goes so deep near the lost river and has offspring there, there is sulfuric acid inside the volcano crater that fuels its electrical cells. It eats acid ) this is also why it has attained great size as it does not need to exert lots of energy because of the previous point. Now read this in a David Attenborough voice and get back to me.
Or there is something big enough to hunt? But what?
Where are you finding these skeletons
Personally, I believe, given the lack of a defined socket, the second set of holes behind Theta's eyes might've been an ear-like structure
When the Gargantuan Leviathans were alive, they probably had to have massive quantities of large food to survive, like Ghost Leviathans. So if one were alive, it makes sense that it would be in the ecological dead zone. Also, the one in the lost river is a juvenile. If you want to be even more terrified of it look up concept art of them. Real freaky stuff
Thank god this isn’t in dnd.
I’d have just cast resurrect to screw over my party.💀
What if the ancient skeleton had tentacles? It would explain the holes and lack of joints
this is the most thorough dissection of each fossil i've ever seen, damn.
You should do a vid where you "discover" a few living gargantuan leviathans since there's a mod to bring them to life I would love that
just wanted to say the gargantuan has six eyes es well so yeha i btw good vids
4:17 Not found on any other creature? Perhaps the smaller hole for the hypothesized 'antenna' could be what remains of that extra eye. This would also reinforce the idea that the larger skeleton is much older than Theta
The holes in the side of the body are for tentacles
8:00
you hear a distant roar
Eh no
Its Not extinct
Leviathans belong in a museum!
I love the semi-comedic and yet still serious and informative tone you have, good fun for videos like these
nice video length
The Second Extinct Leviathan, it probably has holes to lighten its way when it moves in the void and probably moves like a snake.
I want this but with other games like monster hunter or ni no kuni 2.
So yea. I don't need to bring those skeletons up my friend, I already have cloned the gargantuan leviathan and keeping him as a pet. The specim seems to not die to old age, as I brought it back at the same age it was at death, 1000000-1500000 years old. The primary food sorce is the Ghost Leviathans found in the void. The Gargantuan leviathan is measured at about 3000 metres long, or 3km. I will return with more information on the specim and hope to help us recover the lost mysterys of Planet 4546B.
