I do not agree? intelligence, is not limited to a government body only greed comes from the hardwork of constituents, so give them back the money they paid you to disrespect the geius intelligence of others.   2. Let’s see, 1,000,000 metric TONNS is 1,000,000,0000 KG (kilograms) of mass
    That a GIGA KG of mass. And for my fellow yanks a KG is a little over 2.2 lbs.

    So that over TWO BILLION pounds of mass to mars.

    Now, for the NTP Rocket why could you not use nuclear waste?

  3. 11:53 uhm.. beg to differ. It's equally arguable that Twitter was fat, bloated and horribly mismanaged before Musk started cleaning house. It's easily comparable to how SpaceX does things versus NASA. So.. I'll thumbs-down your thoughts on that section.

  4. Tesla bots need to be the first there to start and build the Colony. So AGI needs also to be done with the Tesla Bot. The Bots need to build the living conditions for humans to populate.

  5. If all parties pool their financial resources and technology it would move faster …..why not use expended rocket boosters to.make the colony infrstructures,buildings or as.conduits to habitable.domes

  6. Here's what concerns me about this. It has been stated, over and over again, that the James Webb Space Telescope CANNOT BE REPAIRED, should any of the dozen or more mission critical failure point fail. The TWST is a mere ONE million miles from Earth. Here we are talking about building out a system at a distance that is Two-and-one-half ORDERS of MAGNITUDE Greater than that. It's one thing to deploy an unmanned robotic spacecraft with componentry that, although extremely complex, is no where NEAR as complex as what would be required to support a colony, even a very small colony, of humans on that planet, which is, thus far, not only devoid of life but seems to lack what is required to support life even if life were to be introduced.

  7. Saturn V could not put 50 metric tons to the surface of the moon, it could send about that amount towards the moon. The most part of that was the command and service module with its fuel. the lunar lander, LEM, weighted about 15,800 kg, mostly fuel, and had an insignificant amount of crew life support supplies compared to its weight. So it makes no sense to estimate the needs for a Mars trip based on the TLI mass of about 50 tons.

  8. A couple of points:
    As promising as a Nuclear engine is,

    A: are we going to allow a DRACO engine to be installed on an Earth Launched/ recovered Starship?

    B: How are you going to cool your DRACO once in space seeing no known cooling system exist yet that can cool a space borne reactor/engine?

    I think that HLS would be better served if it was smaller and maybe had crewed/ cargo variants. I also think we need to build LEO infrastructure first, to allow modular Gen 1 intra System transport systems to be developed built. I don't see 1 shot to Mars concept working outside of the first few expedition missions.

  9. You thought people might get angry at you for saying SpaceX needed NASA? Well, maybe, but it would more likely be for your hostile characterizations such as, "The lunatic genius of Space," and "The guy couldn't even make a social media company work. If Elon tries to make a Mars colony work the way he runs Twitter, a lot of people are gonna die." Certainly, there are people who agree with you but, given the mess at Twitter when he took it over, he has been making great changes that should make you eat your words. Just beware of uncritically buying into the anti-Elon narrative in the media.

  10. You are an idiot if you think that NASA is going to provide meaningful solutions. Your comments about the limited capabilities of SpaceX and Elon Musk are an excellent demonstration of how ignorant you are about where the real breakthroughs and developments in rocket technology even going back as far as at least the 1950s when all of the break through and developments came from a handful of geniuses who were forced to use government funding which always produced the most expensive and least economical results. Thankfully in Elon we have a brilliant man who also has the money to carry out his dreams and not dependent on the government or its funding.

  11. There will be human presence on Mars within the next few decades, but it will be centuries before that presence could be accurately characterized as a "colony". For the foreseeable future human presence on Mars will have much the same character as human presence in Antarctica … research facilities temporarily manned by research scientists. The folks making overly optimistic predictions of "colonies" on mars seem to be woefully underestimating the fundamental toxicity of Mars to human life. Permanent residency will require changes to the species or changes to the planet … or both.

  13. Why? Why go anywhere? Why not improve earth first? We are already living in the Garden of Eden (by any intergalactic standards.)
    As is, Mars couldn't even support a single cockroach. Time to wake-up and smell the coffee. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the hill (especially since there isn't any.)

  14. Someone said that in the Hellas Planitia basin it can go up to 20 degrees! Correct me if I'm wrong but the basin is over 7km deep which makes me wonder what kind of gasses would be present.

  15. Relying on NASA is a bad idea. NASA also worked on rockets that land vertically, but they never developed it. The only thing standing between Musk and developing his own LFTR's and nuclear thermal rockets is government regulatino standing in his way. He needs to go off-shore and develop this himself.

Drive around the United States in a semi for a couple years, see where people live and how many or how few live there and why they live where they do, consider all the various climes and topographies and relative resources and comforts or lack of and such, then contemplate that even in the most marginal of spaces the Earth has an amazing combination of gifts on offer – yet people don't want to be there. Then tell me about Mars!
    I am a huge fan of Elon and his space rockets.
    Yet this is the 64 ton gorilla of colonization. I think his dreams push aside the axiomatic thinking he prides himself on. We should be colonizing near space first, with gigantic habitats, freighters, and manufacturing plants – made as earthlike as possible … gravity, pressure, shields, spaciousness, environments, and system resources exploitation. The development of human-oriented technologies needs to be paramount, for us to conquer rather than being killed by this realm. We can't even terraform marginality here yet, so why are we so keen to get to a dead hostile rock? First year when you lay about dying, no Indians are gonna' come out of the rockwoods with turkey offerings to save you. Mars is Folly, merely legacy sci-fi imprinted urges. 🤔
