With the first one you’d expect anemia from a car crash victim with a large chunk of metal that pierced her leg, you’d disregard it for anything other than the car crash

It's really saying something that Scrubs was more medically accurate than this.
The show did actually highlight that other doctors would be doing the testing outside of their specialities was inaccurate, but they decided that they wanted the main crew to be there for the drama rather than having more doctors.
That's a very parasitic city
I have a question. First of all I am not an expert just an interested person. Could alot of the tests they do and in general the perspective you found wrong by modern medical standards be considered right by the 2004 medical standards? An example of that could be the EEG for the cipa patient
IDEA: lets have him react to anime scenes where the characters self-diagnose their injuries during battle!! Like in Naruto happens all the time. That would be HILARIOUS

The reason they need to do the battery of tests on the CIPA patient, is because she could have broken ribs, punctured lungs all sorts of injuries, but she can't report them.
I feel like you forget that House's team is in place specifically to look for zebras because everyone else searched up and down for horses lol
This is one of the reasons I generally can’t get into meditation shows. They usually have very qualified consultants that some of the writers just end up ignoring them to make the show more exciting

Except… Foreman is a neurosurgeon. Part of the reason he is on House's team is because he has the specialty. In the very first episode House has to put a team together and while some of the reasons he gives for choosing them are… unethical, having people with different specialties is important in the diagnostic medicine that he works in.
Also, many of these patients are with House because they can't figure stuff out. And his knowledge of obscure things is because Dr. House is Medical Sherlock; of course he retains that information, just like Sherlock retains weird information and makes deductions. They're not subtle about the House-Sherlock and Wilson-Watson connections.
so @Doctor_Mike the reason a case is brought to house is because the case is too weird or too specialized for anyone else in the hospital, so when your saying "this shouldn't be the first step it should be more like the 50th" they are running it because the admitted patient has already been through the other 49 steps and given to house because they couldn't figure out whats wrong. however there are a few episodes where house will just take over a case and with those i do agree that doing standard tests first would possibly be help.
Dude….. it’s an entertainment show. Of course if they did it the right way it would be boring. It’s about the characters not really the medicine. Don’t ruin or fun….. yet I do enjoy your show very much.
