Austin’s lyrical highpoints are diminished by gross production choices.

  1. I enjoyed the album. However, I think he should move away from Louis Bell and Andrew Watt; and work with like a Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff or even Joel Little to really explore and highlight the emotion of the lyrics and acoustic-folk pop sound[

  2. Exhibit D that Fantano has an irrational dislike of Post Malones music. Why do you act like no natural sounding automatically = bad, its so goofy and boomer minded. Not to mention the that the lines melon finds cringe or bad, are so arbitrary and random. It feels like one artist could say the exact same thing and he’ll be like “wow that was really deep and raw.”

  3. Its good to hear someone like yourself coming from a analytical logical point of view but as a young artist my self I forget all of the production shit and honestly listen to the soul of the songs primarily "don't understand" because it hits too close to home , thank you for being honest and I appreciate your based unbiased review. I couldn't care less if I agree or not I appreciate you being real to your opinion but not just that but your background in knowledge of music coming in the forefront of that opinion. God bless and thanks for being you! Have a great August 👏🙏🔥👊

  4. I hate agreeing with you but exhausted is definitely the adjective I would use to describe my thoughts after listening to the album. However, Texas tea was refreshing for me along with green thumb to listen to further along into the album. Different strokes ig

  5. If Post ever wants to get back to a chart setter, he has to go back to hip hop. Don’t come at me with the “oh he said he doesn’t care about numbers”

While that may be true, his record labels give a shit cause they wanna make money.

  6. I've always thought of listening to music the same way I do about debating politics, stressing over student debt and budgeting the monthly bills.

I put the music on, turn off 85% of my brain and go do something enjoyable while actively and easily not doing any of the 3 things that I listed above.

  7. Haven't disagreed with Fantano in a while, and considering the new Travis Scott album dropped the same day, Post's album has been way more in rotation at home and in the car than Utopia. These songs have so much emotion, he's just being himself, and a lot of it resonated with me at a deeper level, struggling with a lot of the same issues, as do a lot of other people. Landmine, overdrive, chemical, don't understand, mourning, socialite, novacandy, all amazing. It's better than putting on a mask and pretending to be something your not just cause that's what the "fans" want. EDIT – The YT algorithm did not even suggest this review to me! And I'm an avid watcher of the channel, pretty sure it knew I'd disagree😅😅
