15-18 years ago places that Superman audition from 2005-2008. The only live-action Superman project being produced around then was in 2007 when the movie Justice League: Mortal was in production until it was canceled due to the 2007-08 writers strike prolonging the production. It was written by George Miller and intended to launch a DC extended universe, with the idea pitched before the MCU was pitched, and the MCU an attempt to compete with what Marvel assumed would be a DC cinematic universe. The Superman role went to DJ Cotrona (who eventually played the Shazam version of Pedro in Shazam btw!), with Armie Hammer cast as Batman, the rapper Common as Jon Stewart’s Green Lantern, and Adam Brody as Flash. Would’ve been great, just fascinating trivia that Ryan Reynolds auditioned as well.
