We sat down with Swen Vincke (Game Director), Adam Smith (Lead Writer), and Nick Pechenin (Lead Systems Designer) to break down every single class in Baldur’s Gate 3 including the brand-new Monk class.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive RPG based on the the Dungeons and Dragons TTRPG. The game is being developed by Larian Studios and has been in early access for the last few years. It comes to PC on August 3, 2023 and PlayStation 5 on September 6, 2023.

Thanks for checking this out! We have a couple more Baldur's Gate videos planned in the coming days/weeks so stay tuned! – Jake (producer)
The worst thing about this game is that it comes out when I have to go back to university.
One important question
Can Beasthunters name their pets on their own and can party members see the names?
Bought it on Stadia. That didn't go so well. Now I have an Xbox Series S… Maybe I'm not meant to play this game?
I shouldnt have watched this video because now I want to play every class and subclass and its going to take a loooong time
Coming into this a bit blind and really excited. Not played DnD before but i can clearly see these guys have had a lot of fun making this and love their job
I dislike their description of fighters, even if it's not completely inaccurate. Fighters are not alone in having martial weapon proficiency, heavy armor, and ability to use different weapons. This may make people think fighter is the only class capable of that, they're not.
The best fighter subclass I see (in EA), the battle master, just has action surge and some extra damage bursts with CC, over the barbarian, as well as having more ranged potential over time. The real difference between fighter and others seems to be extra burst some of the time, and CC.
I know this game has been in early access forever but I haven’t seen a single thing about it aside from small interviews like this and I’m getting so stoked now that it’s all coming to fruition.
5 seconds in, dude throws out the halfling barbarian rageball party strat and that's all I need to know we're in excellent hands.
I wonder how many characters you can play with at once. There are so many different combinations of race and class and I want to try everything!!
ill just use dark wisdom
soooo. about those druids…
Will there be Multiclassing?
I dunno if this will help anyone decide which class to play, but I consider this myself:
You'll get a rogue, fighter, wizard, cleric, warlock, and barbarian in your party with the origin characters.
That leaves bard, druid, monk, paladin, ranger, and sorcerer for completely unique classes you can play yourself.
I will make a Gold Dragon Paladin with Oath of the Ancients.
I just hope that the game feels fun without the need to be late-game to get all the cool things
games pretty fun from what I've played so far. I'm hoping for an artificer class with the battle Smith SC.
"
murderhoborogue was the first class that I played…"I can’t wait to be a bard.
Can't twin cast AoE spells in the TTRPG. So I really hope Nick was correct when he said two Fireballs as that would be awesome to do.
This is not a Baldur's Gate game. This is just a dumb Larian game with the Baldur's Gate name.
Man I was gonna go with monk when the game comes out but I think my first Playthrough will be a bard. Never played a bard in any aspect of any game so it should be a good time lol
Is there a cleric that ISNT a follower of Shar? Its a problem lol.
It's very reassuring to see uber nerds are making this game.
I think i made the perfect character.
A half drow bard, i basically cover every freaking avenue of resolving quests with that char alone.
Only problem is that hes bad at combat. (Well not bad, but he doesn't carry.)
you can Twin Fireball? Do they know you can't typically twin Fireball? Twin Fireball sounds broken.
Ah yes human fighter, bold.
Barbarian Chads sound off
thanks LARIAN, now i'm OVERWHELMED and don't know what to play…
great now I want to play all the classes
as a 5e player, this interview really invites me to experience the fantasy of baldur's gate 3. for instance at 1:51 i briefly imagined a world where i choose a spell from magical secrets that isn't counterspell.
Other classes: Cast magic and do oddly specific things
Monk: Punch face.
Other than black characters being derived from Medieval European culture, this looks amazing.
As someone who's very first character was a halfling barbarian who was constantly thrown at people…the opening brings me great joy.
Amazing depth. Can't wait
More Races! I Love your game, bought the early access. Looking foward to the full release. Thank you for making this game so great.
I can’t decide whether I want to do my first full play through as a bard, a wizard, a sorceress or warlock…..😢
I love how ALL of these classes felt in early access. Going to be a tough decision for me 😅
