Prey is a 2022 American science fiction action film in the Predator franchise. It is the fifth film in the mainline series and seventh in the overall franchise. It is a prequel to the first four films, being set in the Northern Great Plains in 1719. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and written by Patrick Aison. It stars Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Dane DiLiegro, Michelle Thrush, Stormee Kipp, Julian Black Antelope, and Bennett Taylor. The story revolves around a young Comanche woman, Naru, who is striving to prove herself as a hunter. She finds herself having to protect her people from a vicious, humanoid alien that hunts humans for sport, as well as from French fur traders who are destroying the buffalo they rely on for survival.

Development of the film began during the production of The Predator (2018), when producer John Davis was approached by Trachtenberg and Aison, with a concept that they had been developing since 2016. In late 2020, the film’s title was revealed to be the codename for the fifth installment in the franchise. Filming took place around Calgary during the summer of 2021, with the entire film shot in English and some sequences shot in Comanche as well. The remaining sequences were dubbed into Comanche by the cast, reprising their roles. The film is the first feature film to have a full Comanche language dub.

In Prey, a skilled Comanche warrior protects her tribe from a highly evolved alien predator that hunts humans for sport, fighting against wilderness, dangerous colonisers and this mysterious creature to keep her people safe.

  1. I feel like this applies to success in life too. A lot of success is being able to adapt to change and seeing opportunities where others don’t. Look at Covid, the companies that were able to adapt and change are the ones that grew, the ones that stayed the same failed.

  2. How to Kill a Alien recipe:

30 yrs back: Being a carreer long militar soldier with the hardest training in the body and mind. Being prepare for the apocalypse. Having 120 kg of muscle, lots of weapons, traps and strategy intelect and yet failing, but counting with luck and divine providence and a pair agile legs.

Today: being a "woman" (whatever a woman is these days) because they can be whatever their want, include alien killers

    (Laughs).

  3. This movie was unexpectedly good. I don't think this is a great movie but it's easily the best Predator movie since the first. It restored my hope for this franchise after The Predator destroyed it

  4. Hey, POG. Have you seen the FXX series Cake? It's essentially an anthology series that combines live action and animated series to create an incredibly surreal and cool series of stories. I just saw 2 episodes and I already love it, and I think you'll enjoy it too. Especially the "Oh Jerome No" subplot.

As for Prey, I was never a fan of the Predator franchise, and wasn't wowed by the trailers for Prey, but I can appreciate them trying to take the franchise in a unique and interesting direction. Plus it's nowhere near as awful as Predator 2018 or AVP Requiem.
