Dean Martin’s daughter was a fan of Elvis Presley too.

  1. Elvis's version of I don't care if the sun don't shine is more influenced by Patti Pages version. Listen to all three versions… after the slow intro of course. His timing and phrasing is so much like Patti's not Deans. Dean was not his biggest influence. He loved Dean like we all do but he always said others were the best and the king of this or that. He did not care to be referred to as the king of anything. This comparison of Elvis and Dean has been mentioned since I can remember. I must be older than most.

  2. It's now or never did not come out until 1960. It was not a part of Jailhouse Rock. Jailhouse Rock was in 1957. Elvis fans appreciate all the videos on Elvis but there are so many facts that get mixed up from someone's opinion or lack of research. Then this misinformation if referenced as facts by others.

  3. Sono Italiana, ma Elvis cantava e era più bello di Dean
Quando era fanciulla a 7 anni in Australia, senza sapere uno parola d'inglese, vedevo Elvis come un' Italiano. Sono 69

  5. The creator has got a lot wrong. He did not record my wish came true in 1959. He was in the army and did not record any studio tracks. This was done before he went in the army. It's now or never is not Elvis' most sounding Dean Martin song. For the millionth and the last time is. I gave up after that. If you record narrative you must know your research!

  6. Roy Hamilton and Mario Lanza were a VERY BIG Influence on Elvis' unique singin' style plus a lot of the Gospel Groups and Lead Singers (Blackwood Brothers, The Jordanaires, Golden Gate Quartet etc.). Roy Orbison was also one of his absolutely favorite Singers! That's the reason why Elvis never ever recorded an original Orbison Song, he thought nobody can hit Roy's enormous vocal range…

  8. —————- Missing from most discussions are the Country, Pop Ballad & Bluegrass aspects of Elvis life. Bing Crosby had a strong influence on him, The way he, & Dean Martin sing is similar to Elvis. Give a listen to Dean's Memories Are Made of These, and you can hear Elvis in Dean's voice.

Roots of Rock & Roll can be heard even in European influenced Appalachian Music (mountain music). Give a listen to FLATT & SCRUGGS Foggy Mountain Breakdown, and you'll hear lightning in a bottle, where rocking is not limited to rock & roll.

Hank Snow toured with Elvis, and even though the Austin Butler movie made Country Music out to be slow & dreary, they were careful not to include the FAST country songs, in order to create a contrast between Country and R&B.

Take a listen to Hank's greatest hits, particularly Rhumba Boogie, Golden Rocket, and you can hear the influence he had on rock & roll.

Bill Hailey actually preceded Elvis by a few years, and influenced him. Bill had the first #1 Rock song. So strong was Bill's single song (Rock Around The Clock) that Billboard Music gave this song the distinction as being when the Rock Era officially began in 1955, although rock sporadically existed beforehand, it wasn't until Bill in 1955 & Elvis in 56 hitting nationally that it occurred.

Guitarist Les Paul was the first accomplished Electric Guitarist. Sure anyone can buy & plan an electric guitar, but Les did it with precision & it rocked, not like most of the primitive players of the time.

This film mentioned Sister Thorp as the Godmother of Rock, but I've listened to her stuff and the earlier stuff sounded nothing like rock. Strange Things Happen (the original version) sounds like jazz. The live clips you see on youtube are from 1965, AFTER the rock era began in 1955) being influenced by Elvis, Chuck, etc, and her sound was more modern toward the end. Don't confuse the old stuff with the later stuff.

  11. Great video, thank you. For me, the tune where you hear Dean Martins influence on Elvis most of all is Elvis’ version of ‘Write To Me From Naples’.
