to answer your question, sure talk more about yourself in future episodes.
Maybe you come accross to blunt or something women hate being told they are not a princess or perfect all the time. Surgar coat it and then soak in honey. Also it could be the hot girl syndrome though. Treat women right and things should workout. Good luck. 1:09:34
I could never do a cultural victory on Deity due to the sheer amount of micromanagement required to maximize tourism to win before they win science: seaside resorts, national parks, theming, wonders, ski resorts, shopping malls, rock bands etc., just so much micromanaging to do
I love it when people directly tell me stuff they dont like. Then I can react. I really have problems picing up subtle signs.
When you criticise something someone does, their first instinct (and yours if you're honest) is to take it as a personal criticism. It's resisting the urge to act defensively that's hard, particularly when you don't see what you did as particularly bad. Understanding someone else's perspective is a level of awareness most people never achieve. Essentially:
Level 1 (baby): You don't recognise anyone else's mind as separate from your own
Level 2 (child): You recognise other minds exist, but model their behaviour/knowledge on your own
Level 3 (adult): You recognise other minds have different behaviours and knowledge to your own and will therefore act in a different way
Level 4: You can model the behaviour of other people in your mind to predict how they might act
Level 5: You can move beyond predicting behaviour to understanding it, and internalising/rejecting the parts that do/don't make sense into your own mind
Most people never move beyond Level 3. Some people (racists for example) never move beyond level 2.

You know, I don't agree with everything you say here Potato, but I think everyone can agree that you are one of the most BASED Youtubers out there.
Not gonna lie, I think there was too much "personal sharing" in this video for my tastes.
The whole, "I hate arguing with women" conversation was entirely pointless. Just, complaining to the camera.
You should talk to a therapist, Potato. this sort of, "I'm going to use Twitch chat / yt comments as therapy" leads to really bad outcomes.
Ftr, people taking requests on how to treat you as personal attacks is not gendered. I've had that happen to me from men, women, nonbinary people, etc. Like you are 100% right that women do it but so does everyone else. A lot of people are just like so full of shame and self consciousness/hatred that any perceived critique sends them into fight or flight mode. Also – fair about the autistic comment but also if you realize that in yr life that applies to all or most autistic people (i.e. I just can't hang out with autistic people because [insert common natural and neutral autistic behavior] makes me feel disrespected) then yr decision to disengage starts creeping into prejudice. The behavior isn't how someone is treating you, it is how you perceive them to be treating you which is not always the same (cultural differences, etc). Sometimes it being different is a matter of them changing their behavior to suit you in order to maintain the relationship, in other situations that request would be ableist/sexist/etc and it's always case by case. It's usually a negotiation about the behavior rather than black or white "do this or I'm out" (with the exception of the most egregious offenses).
I have a cyclic mental illness and it's amazing how hugely my ability to take simple requests/critiques abt my behavior changes when I'm well vs when I am unwell. In the former it is very easy and instantaneous to separate my behaviors from my worth, in the latter it takes like hours to days of talking myself down/shame spiraling/journaling to get to the same point.
Men and women can/can't be friends discussion I think is not really about men and women. It's about two people with compatible sexual attraction. Straight men and women can/can't be friends. Lesbian women can/can't be friends. Bisexuals in general can/can't be friends.
potatoe should take part in speed-talking competitions.
My guy, stop generalizing women's behavior. That's misogyny.

The way I was going to mute because of the constant singing and then potato comes out with a rant on how to have healthy communication 🙏
Re: the controlling thing, I think there's a big difference between being controlling and setting boundaries, and what you're describing sounds a lot more like boundaries that are healthy, of what you will and won't accept from other people. As long as the person setting the boundary is going to stick to it and is happy to walk away if the boundary is crossed, there's no harm. It only becomes controlling if it's coercive or threatening, i.e. "fix this or else" rather than "I don't want to be treated like this so I'm walking away with no hard feelings".
Regarding the conversation around 1:00:00
Honestly, having a low bar of expressing yourself when you're unhappy with what your partner did is actually one of the best predictors of the relationship lasting long term. Holding that stuff in to "be nice" is actually super unhelpful and will just lead to an explosion later down the line. Obviously it needs to be reciprocated by both sides, but when it's done right it's a great way for the relationship to course-correct.
Potato in the middle of a 45-minute long rant: you know, that stuff just rolls off my back
Potato McWhiskey: "Let's go on a romantic weekend to Venice. I hear it's beautiful this time of year."
(Turns out it was a ploy to go see the Venetian Arsenal.)
One thing to acknowledge Potato about poor social skills in women is that poor social skills are equally prevalent in men, but it’s harder to notice if you’re not looking at men as life partners.
Hey Potato, your relationship rant made me think of a thing my grandmother told me back when I was younger and dating: "you need to find a girl before you become set in your ways". Was such a simple statement. Kind of acknowledging that in a deep relationship we're both going to change. And now that I've been married for some time… It's true and I know it.
I noticed all the musicality.
Not to be "that guy", but singing one line over and over really sounds like hyperfocus. I've got ADHD and have literally listened to the same song for days in a row when I'm work.
Being sensitive to negative comments, and having a strong reaction to them sounds a lot like Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria.
As someone with ADHD, dealing with people who are neurotypical can be exhausting. I don't think we all have the same Human OS. IMO it's a lot more like we're all computers, but some people are running Windows, others are using MacOS, Linux, or god help them, DOS. For someone who's not neurotypical, making eye contact for extensive periods of time can be painful. It's like a gom jibar. That person you talked to might have been disrespecting you, but maybe they couldn't just handle the eye contact anymore.
Re friends; almost all of my friends are women, or non-binary. And almost all of them are asexual so there's 0 interest. The whole lack of macho posturing is a huge plus.
The one friend that's even close to a maybe is also demisexual, and she's a lesbian, so that's not happening. I'm also demisexual, so I'm only attracted to women I have an emotional connection to. I hate dating. Hate it with a passion. Relationships are fine, but that limbo state of 'is this a serious thing or not?" makes me want to stab my brain.
Gotta say, it really bums me out to hear generalizations about men and women that glosses over the existence of people who aren't straight. You may be straight, but not all of your friends and potential friends are.
On the "don't do that to me" thing, it's absolutely not controlling, but it might be a little harsh on people who are struggling in some way with self-control or self-awareness. Shitty behavior often comes from a place of pain and fear – which we're obligated to work on, but that takes time, and it's accomplished much more easily if we're able to find friendship and support in the meantime.
happy birthday
Your view on friendship between men and women is very heteronormative, just a thought.
It seems like you’re not being controlling, being offended by someone rolling their eyes could be over sensitive but it depends on the situation. I will say that experientially women (or many others) do not respond well to criticism delivered super directly, and softening it linguistically delivers better results
Hey man, i like that you talk about the real shit nobody else does.
Could you leave the singing to the professionals please potato? LOL
hahah damn – I'm in the exact same spot with regards to "I need to date myself". Had an almost seven year long relationship, didn't end up the way I wanted… I am 27 now and single since a bit more than a year and I haven't met anyone who really interested me (and I really put myself out there after a phase of grief). Probably not over it yet, still sour about some of her actions but still have that small hope we end up together in the end. But I try to face the reality that it's over (she even has a new boyfriend). I don't believe in the one true love but damn I hoped to find more people out there that I Could fall in love with… I wonder if I'm able to love the same way ever again…

My gosh, what you said about relationships… so relatable. I told my recent girlfriend that the way she talked to me was a bit harsh and hurt me, and she just could not take it. But I too came to the conclusion that I will tell people when their behaviors bother me. Love the validation. Thank you!

The thing about the hardware being the same is true. But people have different programming. Thats why it's important to be as manipulative and toxic as possible you cannot let people get a w around you. I once saw a kid smiling, eating ice cream, so I hit it out of his hand and rubbed his face in it.
Lol Venice xD
Civilization 6: the musical.
@1:00:45. It is not controlling. It is being assertive and open with your feelings. It is not a bad thing so long as you are kind and direct with the way you express it. The alternative is to let people walk all over you.
I totally thought you said Walterism, like some weird religion devoted to Walter. Whoever that is.
This felt like a therapy session to me😂 does anyone else feel like that. This is why I love potato
The start of this game is like every game I seem to have. Cramped, limited production. It was interesting to see how you overcame that. Then on an islands map, I always have the the problem in the mid game of someone I haven't met yet being way ahead and I'm never quite sure how to deal with that. War seems to always be the right answer. LOL
I just have to focus on a victory condition that I can hit around turn 300 because, yeah, the some AI always seems to hit it somewhere between 320-350.
I think people are put off setting boundaries because it's a really uncomfortable position to be in if you don't have a strong sense of self and a non-reactive ego. What??? You just told me that I should stop that??? How dare you??? It's a combination of embarrassment, hurt pride, sudden awkwardness in a social interaction, etc. and if you aren't a person who's matured and taken social Ls before it can be very daunting, because most people put up with shit or are themselves a person that was put up with and everyone just sort of goes with the flow, so being intentional with these interactions can be bold for some people. I know I've been on the wrong side of some of those moments, but I always really really appreciated people who were able to do that whilst being kind to how I'd react. There was this one senior kid in high school that told me to stop being annoying in some capacity but then noticed when I was hurt, and I have no idea what his name was or anything but that moment still sticks with me. Chad move.
You have SO much faith, why aren't you spamming rock bands? I don't understand
