Did the Zonai Survive Tears Of The Kingdom?

Depending on how you look at the Zelda Timeline you can see there are the minish who not only look a lot like the zonai but also share lore with them. Were there other zonai we didnt see in tears of the kingdom?

  1. I believe that a timeline split happened in Skyward Sword after Demise was defeated in the past, causing the events of the Four Swords trilogy & the first incarnation of his evil in Vaati. And after some time the Four Sword would be forged into this timeline’s Master Sword to fend off Ganon during the Sealing War, & to eventually be wielded by the Hero of Legend, & eventually lost in the Timeline as the Hero of Hyrule set out on his adventures. Not only do I think this makes more sense than what’s essentially a What If? But it also fits this theory of the Picori Blade.

  2. In the vaaiti boss fight when he turns into the tall form I think he says something along the lines of" let me show you time yhe light force can do!" Then he starts shooting golden laser beams. I'm not ruling out that rauru is vaaiti. If they are shapeshifters if you think about it, most of their powers line up.

  3. Problem is that time jumping betwen 2 worlds causes the world to split into 2 different timelines.
    Timelines can however merge later.

But zelda games have a dragonbreak problem.

  4. I definitely agree with the idea that the Picori are linked to the Zonai but honestly I'd go a step further: I think that the Zonai and the Picori (as well as the Oocca) are actually all the same "race", no evolution or whatever even necessary. If you go with the idea that TotK Rauru is the same character as OoT Rauru (which I definitely believe is the case) then we already have examples of Zonai being able to shapeshift, with Rauru being able to switch between the goat man form, the Hylian form and the owl form. There's also the fact that Mineru and Rauru honestly don't really look that similar besides being the brother and sister? It could maybe be a sexual dimorphism thing but I think it's equally likely that the Zonai possibly just don't really have fixed forms and that they can change how they look at will.
I also think that the Zonai being gods seems to be more of a literal thing than it seems to appear at first glance. With how otherworldly they're treated and insanely powerful their innate abilities seem to be, the game definitely seems to be pointing towards the idea that these guys literally are just straight up gods, albeit ones on a "lesser" scale to Hylia and the Golden Goddesses – like everything about how Zonai society is presented to us in the world design like their architecture and how the Zonai Devices work seems to imply that Ultrahand and Ascend at the very least are abilities that every Zonai had/has just innately and not just Rauru, which is absolutely insane when you think about it, no other race in the Zelda series even comes close when it comes to stuff that they're just able to do without blessing or any other sort of magic helping hand, and that's only what they can do with their arm! Imagine what other abilities a Zonai might have in the rest of their body!

  5. I believe that the flashbacks of TotK are the first events that take place after Skyward Sword. They made it back down to the mainland, and then they needed to found Hyrule with the help of Rauru who came from a different Sky Island than Skyloft. The flashbacks take place after the deaths of the Link and Zelda of Skyward Sword though.

  6. I still dont get the Plot From the Mastersword 🤔 so when Zelda arrives in the past there should be a Mastersword already why they did Not send this one Back and Charge the Other one Just in Case 🤔
The unbreakable sword Glitch seems Cannon, also they have different discription and glow so maybe we unlocked DLC content early 🤷

Ahh, So Ganondorf isn't the only Incarnation of Demise. Vaati, Veran, Onox, and Agahnim(Presence of Ganon), Koume and Kotake/Twinrova, all appear to be like pieces of Hatred, Obsession and an Overall disdain for Hyrule i.e. the absolute need to "Conquer and kill what you can't". And of as his small circle of sorcerers, Ganon's Revival appears to be their only crux of existence. And then there's Kohga and the Yiga

  8. On your alien comment, one thing i wonder is if the Zonai design is a reference to the japanese moon rabbit trope, and there ultimate origin in the "sky" is actually the moon? Alien rabbits from moon is common enough in japanese fantasy like final fantasy or pokemon and also maybe its a reference to japanese royal family descend from sun god but for hyrule they say the descend from the moon "gods"
(And some sky islands have weird moon jump physics….set up for a moon dlc??)

  9. Only tangentially related, I hate the official placement of Four Sword Adventure in the official timeline. It's obviously the backstory of Ganon's trident, now known as the Trident of Power, but it's not in the same timeline split as the only incarnations of Ganon that actually attack with a trident.

  10. I see a lot of the argument that the Zonai going extinct means they can’t have become the Minish to survive because Rauru and Mineru are the last Zonai. But we don’t refer to the Koroks as Kokiri anymore and why would we call the Minish (or Picori) the Zonai? Rauru and Mineru are the last Zonai and the rest of the race could have transformed to survive as it’s happened in canon before Lmao. Them being small makes sense why link can’t see them but should be able to and the fact that the dragons can’t be seen and that to me they’re implied to have been Zonai by Mineru is too much coincidence. Maybe they don’t become them and the Zonai are a reimagining. But I like the spark of hope it rings that they may have survived.

  11. I hate to say it but I think Nintendo does doesn’t really care about that part of the timeline anymore I mean they made 3 games on it and didn’t even bother trying to find a way for them to fit in

  12. I live this idea. It's one I love for my own time line. I believe that ss has 2 splits. All the cut seats from Totk take place after ss. Then Manish cap and all games that have no Ganondorf. The only exception being the one we're he is an actually different person in 4 swords. Meaning that Ganondorf is sealed under the castle in all the games that were ment to be "downfall timeline". It also helps explain the master sword. The picori gift it to them in ministry cap then eventually it becomes the sword the hero in kinks awaking will use much later in the timeline.

  13. I always just thought it was like how dragons always look different in books, it's the idea of "sky people" like the minish occa and zonai are all the same just seen with a different lense like how Zora look different in each game and how the kokiri became the koks this theory also makes it kind of meta its like dragons in myths its A "legend of zelda" its a story and no story is alike in its own veiws

  14. Is it possible the Zonai used some form of magic to become the Minish? Zora became the Rito with the help of the dragon Valoo then needed a blessing to gain their wings. Could it be a blessing? maybe a curse?

  15. I have 4 separate comepeting theories that I can't let go of and can't decide which is more plausible:

    1. the Zonai are more closely related to the mogma, one of the 5 races of the surface world that fought alongside Her Grace, goddess Hylia. How I got here: while we are told the zonai came from the sky, this information isn't actually give to us by either rauru, sonia, or mineru, its very possible this is hearsay or not the whole truth. Much of the rest of the information we have on the zonai actually point towards the zonai coming from the depths – the zoanite quarries, the use of brightblooms in their architecture and clothing accessories as staples, and their rabbit like appearance (long ears, short nose, large feet etc) and rabbits are known for burrowing. Additionally, the zonai devices we use throughout the game aren't seen being used by the zonai people in the flashbacks, I believe the zonai devices would have only been created and used after the sages moved the islands into the air and while they still had access to the mines from the depths. Other tie ins the the Mongma in general: their design, mogma are bipedal moles, the have large ears, fur, and snouts. the mogma are obsessed with treasure, and lets be frank zoanite would count as treasure given all the various properties that can be manipulated through them, and the mogma have a strong sense of honor. personally I think the mogma greed also plays in, if the zonai are almost extinct during rauru's reign it could be because their civilization became too greedy or power-hungry etc etc

    2. The Zonai were the guardians of the sacred realm: How I got here: the Zonai are labled as ones close to the gods; it is implied that it is not unusual for the zonai to have unique gifts like rauru's light abilities and mineru's spirit abilities and I've not heard of another race that has that wide a range of capabilities – most races within the world of Hyrule align with a single element; they were given the secret stones (or forged them???)- while only 7 – 10 appear in the games depending on what theories you beleive, we have know way of knowing if these are the only secret stones ever, or if there were more secret stones during the height of the zonai people.

2a off-shoot theory. The Zonai people are not extinct and still exist within the sealed sacred realm only a few remained outside the sacred realm, the 3 who became dragons, and Mineru and Rauru who stayed behind to share their knoweldge with those who dewelt on the surface (why? who knows, divine order, guilt, reluctance to leave) OR the zonai were decimated when the sacred realm was breached and mineru and rauru were part of a small group of survivors

    3. Sonia is also part Zonai – look at her ears compared to all other hylians, from what I can see she's the only one with ears that big and we know zonai can mate with Hylians; I also ascribe to the theory that Sonai is a decendent of the Zelda from skyward sword but there is a generaltional gap, enough room to give her a ligher/milder hair tone, green eyes, and a darker complexion. small side note: did anyone else love the yellow highlights in Rauru's hair that implied that's where Zelda's royal line got their hair color from?

    4. My Absurd theory: Zonai are actually decendents of the Immortal Dragons – this would align with the hearsay we are told about the zonai being decended from gods from the heavens; they ahve horns, they ahve markings around their eyes that line up with the weird eyelashes the dragons have, and at least rauru's third eye looks more like a dragon eye, they have claw like fingernails, and have a strong connection to magic

  16. Siiiigh Minish Cap was the first Zelda game i actually finished when i was young. Its still my favorite for nostalgia alone, I keep hoping we get some reference of them again or something. Even just catching sight of one in a town in ToTk ducking behind a house before dissapearing or something would have been awesome
