Owner been doing it for years with no certification not any security checks ( before and after) each expedition? Thatβs just irresponsible! This is no scientific, archeological nor Exploration trio! This is purely tourism! For those friends of ocengate who though he was at no fault because he was so passionate about these trips, see beyond his PR and great personality – he ignored safety of his crew and passengers for years!
Well all the evidence to the contrary really
Stockton Rush – a 'rush' to judgement, overconfidence in his abilities, an "I know all and everyone else is a fool" attitude and an elephantile ego led him to discount warnings from 60 engineers and to delare his 'innovative' sub design, not needing a 3rd party certification, invincible. The same word used by the designers of R.M.S. Titanic. "She is invincible", they had said.
Today TITANIC and TITAN both lie next to each other 12,500 feet below on the Atlantic ocean bed.
We can never be invincible. ONLY Nature is invincible.
This wasn't exploration in the least sense. It was gawking tourism.
There was a 1914 Titanic disaster too? Just 2 years after the first one? Wow you'd think they'd have had the good taste not to name another ship Titanic so soon afterwards.
Titanic sank in 1912 not 1914.
You canβt kill manβs pioneering spirit but lax safety regards can kill manβs physical body.
Well, now they know one thing at least. Exactly how long it takes human beings to become toothpaste.
He knowingly used a loophole by not having ,"passengers", he named them as "mission specialists'… Inferring that these naive millionaires specialised in deep sea exploration…. Quite how the 19 hear old fitted the description is baffling…
Stockton was a psychopath.
Move on from this story. Five millionaire trill seekers unfortunately died on a 250k submarine journey; to the bottom of the Atlantic.
It's hardly something that going to impact in any way 99.99% of your viewers.
What about famine, war, and injustice; which is probably killing that many every few minutes.
But I guess with media and Gb news, it's all about ratings; not real news stories affecting more than five people.
Great show x
But the whole point is, this was NOT any 'exploratory', 'research' or even scientific trip, was it? It was taking a couple of tourists for a 'thrill ride' in a high risk, exhorbitantly-expensive (for them) 'death trap' vessel which not only couldn't even be opened for rescue purposes unless by other people outside the sub (hard to find at the bottom of the ocean!), no rescue beacon attached to it, no backup tracking device, made of incompatible materials that wouldn't take the intense ocean pressures at some point because the owner wanted to save on costs, etc etc etc. I mean, let's keep this in the realm of reality – and accountability, hopefully.
No similar thing's at all titanic victims never signed death papers they did
***1912 disaster
Considering the safety factors of the submersible and the fact that the front part was actually glued on tells you this man had no clue what the hell he was doing. It's definitely negligence for these people being killed. Hopefully Ocean gate gets sued like they deserve.
You may not be able to kill man's pioneering spirit but you sure can die in the cause of wokeness. Stockton Rush shunned "50 year old white guys" with all the engineering expertise on the grounds of "diversity" – what a pity he took four other lives with him for the sake of his ideology.
They were not pioneers, they were ghouls. Despicable.
They new last Sunday it had blown up says James Cameron they kept the story going to cover the snakes Bidens
I am a Ships Captain, I am responsible for an 18000 t DSV construction Vessel and up to 600 personnel. If this had been happening from my Vessel I would have resigned before allowing it to go ahead. Uncertified submersible 4 untrained passengers with an uncertified operator ! No way !
There wasnβt as much technology as there is now when the titanic sank thatβs why it took 73 years to find. If Titanic sank now it would probably be found the next day
Yeah tourist s are not explorers. You want to do that. Do on your own. And charging money to see an underwater grave. Disrespectful and greedy. That sun should have been in tip too shape. CEO been down there lots of times , so for him this was a walk in the park. First time for tourists
The sub should have been named Icarus
Stockton Rush died in his implosion casket because he was cocky, thought that he was a know-it-all and he also killed those 4 other men with him. Letβs see, MERE human beings shook their arrogant fists at The Lord by claiming that The Lord God Almighty HIMSELF could not sink the titanic, and that was the first and last voyage for the titanic in April 1912. Where the titanic from April 1912 lays on the bottom of the ocean, that is a graveyard and should be Respected And Left Alone, and NOT treated as an βamusement/carnival attractionβ and NOT for grave robbers.
You can with 6000 psi
There was nothing pioneering about OceanGate or there death trap Titan! It was unsafe from the outset with multiple warnings given and multiple failings/issues, and an accident waiting to happen, and CEO Stockton Rush knew it would end in disaster sooner or later! I suspect those getting on board we oblivious to all the past warnings.
Of course there's risk in exploring the unknown, but when Rush blatantly ignored every single warning by multiple people, there was no risk mitigation, this was a death sentence, not exploration! Let's not give OceanGate and especially Rush that glorification, they killed the people on board.
Do me a favor. Stop glamorizing this CEO's hybris into a "pioneering spirit". Give me a break. And whats unknown about the Titanic wreck? You can see it all on Youtube without the sub-zero conditions. The way this Rush guy could sales-pitch and bully a lot of people to cooperate with his irresponsible scheme is really an insight into human nature.
GB News YOUR TITLE IS WRONG. This wasn't "exploring the unknown" the Titanic had been explored numerous times before. These people were tourists with ghoulish intent to gawp at a sunken ship – paying for utter financial stupudity with their lives. IMO this type of dive was totally unnecessary, with NO reason behind it, apart from greed by OceanGate. On an international basis NO FURTHER TOURIST DIVES SHOULD TAKE PLACE. I hope the families of the dead bankrupt the company that broke safety rules for money!
1914 lol?
Was told it was unsafe. Didn't take his kids on these dives. He knew better. Not certified, hence, not fit for commercial use..carelessness
Itβs a graveyard! Leave it alone ffs. Itβs sick.
Titan was not fit for purpose by proper engineers ,4 others died due to one mans obsession .,these people rescuing titan already knew that it had imploded .yet kept up the farce fir days upon days
Aesop's 201st Fable has this CRUX :
Partiality often leads men into error : once they have made up their minds they stick obstinately to their mistaken opinion and have cause to regret it when the true facts come to light.
This was tourism plain and simple and had nothing to do with the 'human spirit' or the 'unknown. Comparing this level of curiosity with that of spce exploration is incomprehensible. Unless you think Willian Shatner and Neil Armstrong occupy some similar place in human history?
The TITLE of this video is incorrect. They were not exploring the unknown. It was more like a new expedition up Mount Everest or to the Moon. It has already been done.
This wasn't ' pioneering ' this was blatantly ignoring all the experts and engineering history of over 60 years safe use and going " narh it will be fine "
KILL NO.. BUT YOU CAN GIVE IT A DAM GOOD.. BLOOP.. BLOOOP.. BLOOOOP.. SPLAT.!!.. SQUISHING…
YEH, 5 OF THE MOST COSTLY MEAT PATTIES EVER PRODUCED..
I am reminded of the technical failure thatlead to the 1986 fatal Space Shuttle disaster during whose
investigation Richard Feynman famously remarked "Nature cannot be fooled". In that case it was the O-ring seals, in this case it was the carbon fibre composite used for the hull. In both cases any competent engineer could see the disaster potential. OceanGate was warned many times.
ARE WE ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE THAT THE CEO WAS ONBOARD
Men, Women children and babies lost there lives on the (unsinkable ship) whilst it sank, in the dark and unable to save themselves π’. This was not through choice. The CEO bad seamanship on both counts. God bless π π those whos souls are lost regarding the Titanic. To hear from surving families who managed to get off the Titanic to safety is heartwarming β€οΈ after such a seafaring tragedy. Thank you to the lady in this interview for speaking about it all. π
It was refreshing watching the world come together hoping for a miracle, but now everyone is hating on the dead CEO. The man didnβt have a death wish. He built a new type of submarine and made sure everyone knew it was experimental. 4 of the 5 people on that sub were passionate about exploring and willing to take a risk. The French explorer who died had 37 different trips to the Titanic, including several successful trips on the exact vessel that imploded. I say keep exploring, keep innovating, keep learning, mourn this tragedy and stop calling these people stupid – they were a lot braver than most people.
wow… you as well?? I am disappointed… I thought so much of you. anyway… go you all along and don't understand my point, my voice won't be killed by any of you news reporters, comedians or scientists or "explorers"… just go ahead, I will do the same. there, you have it. π€π€¨ !Safety is not off the limits!
βYou can never kill a manβs pioneering spirit and desire to explore the unknown.β
It will kill itself.
by the way, I was an "explorer" also once, lool, we were hiking around the Eiger without any knowledge, correct equipment or any plan, yeah, it was a nice "exploration" and we got lost, of course, during our "exploration", and I do not recall any of it, but I sure remember how we got back to "civilization", and I was the only teen of the group, by the way. I almost fell down a few meters during the "exploration", but "luckily" wasn't… there was water coming out of the rock, so that's why, and we were not trained or anything, the other two women were from Australia and Japan, and had no idea of climbing either, the Australian was shouting: "yeah! civilizatioooon!", when we finally made it out. She couldn't believe that we made it actually. this was the biggest "exploration" of a mountain without a single plan that I took part in, lol. It took us hours to find back. We did not even tell anyone that we were going. We were just lucky, we stupids. So many stupid people on this world. yeah. here is to "explorers". π₯πΉ and to journalists courting them. π₯βΊπ never mind if you don't understand this fable, as I said, so many stupid people on this planet, don't be shy or attack yourself to add to the pool.ππ€€
but if you want to risk life and limb, don't ask for others to come rescue you while them probably being in danger of loosing life and limb themselves, that is very unfair. I think that is a legitimate opinion too. ππ€
also, animals do risk their lifes to safe their companions at times, you cannot say it is all merely human, that is just not true.
Hardly. This was a tourist tour.
They think the future of mankind is at the bottom of the ocean…I've never heard so much tosh
They weren't "exploring ' anything !
The wreck is thoroughly surveyed !
They were rich feckers on a jaunt !
