Coast Guard: Search for missing Titanic sub still a rescue operation

The U.S. Coast Guard gave an update Wednesday on efforts to find a missing sub that was exploring the wreck of the Titanic. Officials said they had remote underwater vehicles “actively searching” an area where noises had been detected. Following their news conference, Chris Roman, an associate professor of oceanography at the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography, joined CBS News to talk about the difficulties of the search.

  1. Don't give families hope. My opinion they died first few hours I hope not. But I can't see any other way they survive it the Titanic is grave site tragedy it should be left alone
When it keeps getting disturbed if feels like that tragedy is going become yours aswell if not left alone
Let's be honest they went down in TIN CAN bolted from outside

  2. They need to go to the location of titanic on ocean floor and cross section with drones as much of that area as possible, the sub if lost control would have been sinking as close to the initially target point as they could

  3. I dont think the sub would have gone far from its intended target as it wasnt far away when it sent its last data entry to the crew on board the boat

  4. Drones should have been immediately sent to the titanic this sub will be on the ocean floor whether fully intacked or not ,the sub was on a course for the titanic using a controlled decent, it doesnt have the power to follow a route using motors like a sub would do

  5. Sonar would pick up banging and albeit phones dont work the alarm or internal sounds could be used and picked up if they were able
Looking at the sub they didnt look to be carrying anything that would sufficiently cause a bang against its shell, hitting the sides with hands wouldnt create the sound vibrations as a blunt metal instrument would do

  6. They if not already need to be using thermal imaging detection, they will be emitting heat even by talking,5 people in that tube would be emitting heat

  7. I cannot believe that they would name it the titan. That was the same name of the book that was written about a ship sinking just ten years earlier than the titanic itself. The titan. How ironic. God comfort the families.
