  1. Slight clarification – A lot of great discussion about the 'Currency Exchange' where you can trade gold in for gems. We still don't know how that will work (if at all) in the NA/EU so I didn't want to make it a focal point of the video, however, I appreciate all the KR/RU folks coming in to add context to the conversation.

  2. Every MMO is pay to win with RMT power buying on currency selling websites no one talks about. Lost Ark being the poster child for something that has been around over 15 years in EVERY MMO, for doing it first party, is fucking stupid.

  3. Def p2w. I think your entire video is quite biased. You refuse to call anything p2w when it's clearly blatantly p2w and instead call everything "convenience" when it's obsolutely not. Directly turning paid currency into ingame money/coin etc is p2w period dude. If the advantage here was 2-3 days worth of time for paying then that could be overlooked, but these "conveniences" will quickly add up to months worth of progression.

  4. Hey guys i'm still new to the game, quick question should I sell my dismantled gear, or should I direct sell gear to the vendors at low level? Ive played wow, D3, Poe, D2LoD, so i got trading down. But the level mats seems strange.

  5. Imho, if you’ve spent hundreds of hours in the game, you SHOULD open your wallet. I’ve spent 15 hours and already bought because I want to support them as I’m so damn impressed.

  6. I don't plan to do PVP so don't worry about those P2W players, but if I do group PvE content, if my group has paid for more power, all the more power for them. If it helps me get through the thing I need to get through, I don't care so much.

I hate P2W… but I'd argue in this instance it doesn't affect me much?

  7. Let's not pretend that this new term "Pay for Convenience" is just another way to try and normalize a Pay to Win system.

The reality is, reguardless of PvP if I can drop thousands of dollars and pimp my 3 accounts out with every character under the sun that gives me an edge in PvP because I will know the inner workings of more classes sooner than those who just study up and watch videos.

A rich me, Being able to level all classes faster and get hands on experience would make me way better than poor me way faster.

Let's not pretend also this game is gonna be this popping in a year.. so yeah pay to win.

  8. If your 'win' is becoming top ranker in this game as soon as possible, it is definitely absolute "pay to win" . you may spend more than 1억. But, your definition of 'win' is step by step growing your character, enjoy combat against boss, enjoy contents and story, THIS IS FUCKING FREE to play GAME. I usually spend about 20 dollars to buy some skins, IT MAKES ME HAPPY !!!! For me, 'Win' means becoming HAPPY. oh, in this case, this is PAY to WIN(BE HAPPY). There's no NO NO PAIN of not paying real money, unless you wanna become RANK 1~100~or something in THIS ARKESIA. (From Korea, Korean user, I know Payment system is whole different in every country, BUT . BUT. Actually, We even think that "why smilegate give more to other country's people ?" But we have trust on this game and the director, so we are like "nevermind." )

  9. Lol, come on now pay for convenience? Are people really coming up with this stuff? I play this game and it’s a pay to win on PvE. You’re making it faster = paying to win.

  10. If you pay enough money you can get a fully upgraded character with max gear to clear the hardest raids in 1 day, anyone, saying it's not pay to win is delusional. Just because 1% of the game is not pay to win doesn't mean the game itself isn't pay to win, what matters are the raids and cosmetics that most people will be doing and trying to clear and get, compared to a minority of PVP content. you can pay to give yourself an edge for just about everything in this game heck you can beat it day one if you pay enough money.

  11. The fact that they've added the possibility to fail "honing" gear and the currency being used to ensure success rate and the mats for it can be store bought is a huge mobile game mechanic that is made to nudge people into buying it. You are progression capped in many ways so saying "you'll get x slightly earlier is an understatement. It's not p2w in pvp but it def is in pve. Game is good fun but it def has exploitive tendencies.

  12. With respect, please stop with this tortured dissembling and weird Orwellian newspeak. “Pay for Convenience” is literally not a thing. Many people in the comments have pointed out why already. Making videos like this where you gloss over the obvious pay to win aspects of the game and paint an inaccurate picture of what the game is, will not have the effect you think it will. It comes across as either copium or disingenuous —even intentionally misleading.

I personally don’t have a stake. I won’t be playing this game, but I do hope the folks who do have an enjoyable experience. I don’t think you are setting people up for that experience by telling them this game is something that it is not (or it is not something that it is).

  13. It’s pay to win… there, I saved you 10 minutes.

The game follows the same script as every pay to win game. You join, you level, you get some fun content, and then you have to pay money ($10s of thousands) to get the ilvl for next level. Sure, you can grind it… but it will take you close to 2 years to get to end game.

  14. I dont think the idea of P2W have been used in mmo games in like forever….. it is a term exclusively used in PVP competitive games where you pay to get an edge.

in this game the argument should be "Do you have to pay to play the fun content" rather than do you have to pay to win. The closest thing you can compare it to is the mobile games where you have a limited energy and have to pay to refill it once it gets depleted, I don't think this is called pay to win at all but rather trying to find the balance between making whales drop money in the game while still making other players enjoy their time.

of course the PVP part of things is more interesting and P2W arguments can be made then, but I personally dont care about PVP tbh.
