Great new challenge I gotta say. New material means having to change absolutely everything and the titanium threw everyone off.
Tabarzin I want to say first appear in the Parthian empire, perhaps influenced by the old Saka sagaris and Kakus and the very early Indian Parashu. Battle axes were common across the medieval period, and Iran had them as a key point in their arsenal until percussion caps really changed warfare. In India battle axes appear in the earliest texts as Parashu and remained in use until the late 19th century across the entire subcontinent. Sometimes they would be combined with the mace to make the tabar shispar or the more common tabar zaghnal.
The style featured here is called a Tabar guptidar, originally used by the Rajputs who wanted their daggers to be closer at hand, and it proved popular through the entire Mughal era and by the Sikh Khasla due to many early adherents being warriors like Jats and Rajputs. Traditional tabar with wooden handles were used by Turks, Caucasians, Arabs, and of course Persians, usually for heavy cavalry that would charge in and start chopping. It makes for a nice medium between the heavy flanged mace and the curved slashing saber (shamshir, tulwar, kilij, etc).
I have to disagree with Ben Abbot on how strong titanium is, I have a knife with a full titanium blade and I have never had to sharpen it other than when I made it and I’ve had it for years and it has stayed razor-sharp and I’ll say it again I have never sharpened it and I use it every single day at work
Having messed with titanium personally it's crazy they were able to get those done on time. Honestly surprised more contestants didn't snap drill bits or get them stuck forever in the handles.

handle first – and titanium at that – was a dumb move for this show. unimpressive to say the least. i bet it doesnt happen again.
I love watching this Episode ( all) episodes) here on YouTube videos
Phew. No beasts. At least in terms of weight.
I like the gimmick of doing the handle first, but it may not have been wise to do that AND titanium
Ben: Jarod you made a nice f*****g axe… 😂
Ah yes, my favorite test “Doug”
Good work, good show! A bit odd though. J
Yesss, bring me even more full episodes
I love this show
Ironic that he wrapped his handle to make his axe easier to hold, but it ended up costing him the win.

Forged in Fire is awesome! I will show it to others. (I love the kill tests.)
Zen? Yeah, whatever. I really hate when people use words they don't understand. It makes them sound ignorant.
Jarred is a sharp one.
Nothing like a joint and forged in fire full episode 🫡
