  1. Its cool if you don't like something, but lets give these content creators a break. Its not their fault the games popularity went far beyond what the development team expected, and its also not their fault the servers are down for maintenance. They're just trying to make a dime, and share their knowledge using the platform they're given.

  2. Cool support for content creators. But do you know what is not cool? Support to teach about the game outside the game.. Yeah I know it is what a lot of people do, but who make the game should focus on teaching or giving ways to learn about the game… ingame. Once you are out of the game to learn about the game you are breaking the immersion.
The problem is not the content, people consume whatever they want and I don't care. The problem is dev team making this the "rule" instead of focusing on creating tools ingame.

  3. Love the progression in New World. It can be a bit slow at times, like with logging, takes much longer than you would expect to just reach 50.
I do like the crafting, the mechanics at least, it's simple and straightforward and makes sense BUT the cost for some items, actually quite many of them, are insane in my opinion. 4 silver bars for a silver fitting? And what is the 1 silver bar for when you are making a necklace? 15 iron bars for one furniture? Unless the whole furniture is made out of iron, 15 is just too much.

  4. Correction, you do NOT have only 3 trade skills, you have 3 Categories of trade skills, Crafting, Gathering, and Refining.
Crafting Trade Skills: Arcana, Armoring, Cooking, Engineering, Furnishing, Jewelcrafting, Weaponsmithing
Gathering Trade Skills: Fishing, Harvesting, Logging, Mining, Tracking & Skinning
Refining Trade Skills: Leatherworking, Smelting, Stonecutting, Weaving, Woodworking
That's a total of SEVENTEEN TRADE SKILLS
Please do not misrepresent things, it only gives people the wrong idea, and ammunition for the wrong people to attacking the game with.

Just a side note here for potential crafters, only wood and stone are readily available. Ores are a race to see who can find and mine it, and many things need rare drops, which qualifies all the gems as you get uncut gems from mining. A lot of the third tier and up recipes seem to need rare materials that you've never even obtained, so don't expect to grind those.
You can fish in almost any water, but what you get is random, and it's kind of slow and has a minigame to reel in your catch.
Harvesting can be easy to practice, but getting what you need is an issue. Hemp used for tier 1 and 2 weaving is as fought over as iron & silver ore is. As to the herbs for cooking and alchemy, you'll easily get the herb used for weak healing potions, but pretty much everything else is a rare drop from that (including garlic, peppercorn, thyme, etc), or hard to find and has lots of competition. At least alchemy has multiple components that can chosen for many of the recipes.
Now there is a saving grace to harvesting for cooking supplies, the staples themselves (corn, potatoes, cabbage, etc) can be found in the gardens/field of the town & farm ruins. However, there are usually several people collecting them, so it has competition, though not as much as the other materials, and there's between 3-20 nodes at each such place. You also tend to only find one type of crop growing there, so if you want to make that stew recipe, you're going to have to find where each of the ingredients were grown at.
Oh yes, there's one more problem with going after those staples, the ex inhabitants are still there as corrupted and will endeavor to kill you at every chance.
So would be cooks had better know how to fight and get around or they will pay through the nose at the trading post for supplies if they can even find them for sale.
    .
Please don't get me wrong, I am loving this game so far, but be honest and open with people. You get happier players when they were NOT sold a pipedream of marketing glitz.

The video really didn't cover Character Progression in my opinion, it just did a mild overview summary of the skills.

  5. 1:10 Focus comment tripped me out. Focus no longer affects mana and doesn’t affect ability cooldowns:

May 2021 Update: “Removed increase in mana regeneration rate from the Focus attribute. Regeneration rate stays consistent at all levels and can only be modified by abilities, consumables, and perks.”
