  1. I will repeat: wh and 40k were never meant to be played competitive. We have(had?!) the 'golden rule' that states that in case of rules being contradictive, players should behave like civilised people and solve the conflict. Or something like that.

But we wanted competitive, and GW delivers in their known manner. The people making the original game have long since been let go.

In 7th I remember it was technically illegal to charge a model standing on a wall or something, because base contact could not be made…

But in practice nobody would do that and any halfway serious event would have someone who judges these questions… Or else face the wrath of someone stomping your little plastic men, because you want to be that guy and put your jetpack movers into impassable terrain….

  2. I think it's perfectly fine the way it is. If both of those supposedly good players can't figure out how something plays in game like adults maybe we're better off not having them win.
And anyone complaining about how the rule helps an emplacement that can't move in an army that's already underpowered needs to get a life.

  3. 1. This is a Tournament using every Advantage you can get is reasonable. And i personally would say even the right thing to do so you can offizielle point out problems in the rulebook (very famous in Magic the 2000 Card Deck, because there was no max Deck size limit

    2. How i would handle it is the Engagement range of the Crew gets added to the Engagement range of the artillery.
So as soon as you are in engagment range of the Crew you can attack the Artillerie.

  4. I think we can all agree that the simplest solution is to change current 40K artillery rules to the 6th Edition Fantasy Battle War Machines and Crew rules. The sight of crews slowly walking from their destroyed cannon to the cannon that had lost its crew on the other half a player's deployment zone was one of the most glorious things I've ever witnessed…

  5. I do like finding these little rules, I remember one from 5th or 6th edition where it stated only one weapon profile can be use per turn, then out comes some space marines with multiple weapon profiles, one for shooting and one for assault, but the wording in the rules stated per turn not per phase, so you had to choose between shooting or assaulting, my local store upon finding this out homebrewed it to mean per phase as it's done now, most likely an oversight as it was put in an errata a few months later, but until that it was always funny to bring it up at other stores and see there reactions 😀

  6. The sole reason these models exist is due to them being aesthetically flavourful. Therefor if they're in the way of game interactions, they should just be moved somewhere else or taken off the board if it gets too crowded.

  7. It'd be cooler if the crew could shoot but also have individual wounds with the clause that if the crew die then the gun ceases to be functional. Also make the crew mandatory and can be targeted.

  8. First person i thought of when watching this was Mani Cheema, whether it's him or not i've heard plenty of tournament organisers/players give their story about how toxic him and his team can be, embarrassment to the game and a shame people who only see him on his youtube channel get different impressions

  9. They ran out of time and they couldn't come to an agreement on the final score. One was especially being a douche so the TO said screw this and gave both of them a big fat goose egg. Kinda of messed up for the player than wasn't really being a douche but since they couldn't come to an agreement both of them had to be penalized. I suppose it could have been ruled a draw but once again the douchery came into play. The judges weren't going to have any of that.

The artillery rule was just a small part of that, not the sole reason for the result.

  10. Seems to me the douchie player placing them in such a way should be nut punched. That’s a just a shitty way to play that model. Anyone that has any knowledge of gun crews know that the gun crew man’s the gun. Ie the set up in such a manner to indicate such manning. SMH that people cannot play honorably
