A shooting in south suburban Matteson has claimed the life of a 9-year-old boy. Police have not released any details on what led to the shooting, and have only said the shooting happened Thursday night. The victim’s grandmother identified the boy as O’Mauri Jones Brown.

I'm gonna say this as respectfully as possible, the grandmother was watching her granddaughter and a group of girls and a guy fighting outside and let the young boy watch as well. Knowing how wild things are right now she should have closed the door and called the cops. If her granddaughter wanted to fight that badly in front of her home, then it is what it is. I'm sure she knows that a lot of people are quick to shoot these days. I feel bad for the family, but it's not safe hanging around and watching fights these days. I used to do the same thing but I wouldn't take that chance anymore. Also the granddaughter better be cooperating and telling the cops who she was fighting with that night.
We were the first to hear these tragic news, my little brother knew him and loved hanging out with him. Me n' omauri talked and hanged out aswell. It was devastating as only 1 day before his death we hanged out and played games.

What's senseless is, fools keep electing criminal-protecting politicians and officials. The gun gets life in prison while dem courts release the violent criminals back onto the streets. STOP dropping and reducing charges! STOP letting criminals control the courts. Mandatory 50 years in prison when using a gun in a crime.
