How Black Women Were Brainwashed pt.1| The Color Purple

This is part 1 of my Color Purple series, where I break down the anatomy of the main characters within the film. New tropes were created in the 1986 release of this unfortunate blockbuster film that informed a generation of black women about how to see interpersonal relationships between themselves and black men. Let’s talk!

About Me
My name is Kendra (my government name), but I’m also known around the Black Manosphere as DJ Fish Grease. That’s because I COOK, and I’m talking DEEP FRY, the foolishness that goes on in our communities. I’m really not a mean person, I just have a low tolerance for people, groups or institutions that play games with the lives of people I love. Like many of you, I fought the clutches of feminism (by extension, the gynocracy) all my life and I have happily supported Red Pill men throughout my lifetime (my father, husband, son, family members and friends.) I consider myself a Red Pill woman since birth. I was in a 20 year marriage before my husband passed away. He and I raised two children together (I have no biological kids, I raised my brother and sister practically from birth.) I belonged to a local Baptist Church but converted to Islam at the age of 18 – so I have a connection and a strong knowledge of both. I currently live in Chicago with family!

This is a place of sisterhood, knowledge, wisdom, and healing. We will go from surviving, to striving, to thriving as we reclaim the values that made us more powerful as women, as mothers, as daughters, as sisters, as wives, and as a community.

  1. Remember ladies, a wife/women should submit to her God fearing husband/man. If anything is outside of God you shouldn't submit. Example being if a man cheats or abuse's you. Women should submit in a godly marriage, not submit to abuse! Saying that Ceelie's character in the MOVIE the Color purple was submissive and blk women should be like her was awful. I do believe in submission and I'm not a di vestor btw. This is what I was trying to explain before getting blocked and cursed at in the chat. I will still pray for some, because their was some very evil things being spewed in that chat . Subs please pray to God and ask him to help get that hate out your hearts .This isn't helping.

  2. This was a noteworthy episode of The Color Purple!! Femininity is my greatest asset. I divorced my perfidious husband in our FIRST year of marriage. Now, I'm happily married to an incredible man. I was a SAHM + a submissive wife. When he got home from work, he walked into PEACE, a clean home, home-cooked meal and a hot bath ready for him; and, his evening attire laid out. I have immense respect + admiration for him. My husband is a marvel. We've invested well and he retired before 50; we're both home and I absolutely LOVE it!! We've been happily married for 26 years!! Lord, thank you!!

  3. From the first time I saw that movie I absolutely hated it. To this day I can’t bring myself to watch it. I was 16 years old young man and I knew something was wrong about it. My mother was 44 at the time and she didn’t like it as well and I never could understand at 15-18 why my mother could not stand Oprah. I would learn more around 18-19 why.

  4. I was here for the Okra grilling but Sister… This here… I'm only up to Suges character breakdown…. Your subs should jump significantly. Pin this on top of your channel (if that's a thing). It's deeper that just a movie.

  5. Peace, sis. Keep up the good work, Crimson Cure. I like how you added your own flavor to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s January 6th, 1986 lecture that he IMMACULATELY broke down, titled: ‘The Color Purple’ where he rendered an in-depth breakdown of the movie ‘The Color Purple.’ Thank you, sis, for resurrecting the Minister’s 1986 lecture, titled: ‘The Color Purple.’ EXCELLENT topic. Peace.

  7. Shugg is not necessarily for the streets. Women like her is the balance in life. Every woman can't be a housewife or completely submissive and loyal to one man.
On a spiritual level she heals the men and catapults them time and time again to sense of confidence and reassurance.
Some might consider it to be a dark angel, she is to be respected and the man of virtues might subject to his vices like lust when around her.
He is curious to find out about her magnetic energy, and wants to spark and connect the polarities.
We are in too deep and condemning women based off of european religion!

Miseducation of a negro is deep. Lmfao

  8. Oprah's family is under a gag order. They can't talk about her or anything that happened in her childhood. She was picked by the "powers that be" for te reasons of indoctrination of the community.

  9. After watching your deep analysis of the female characters, what I now realized, Shug Avery was the start of the celebration of the Modern Woman. She freely slept around, was a Baby Mama, abandoned her child/children, she ran off leaving her child/children on her Father and Mother, without a care in the world, if this was after the 1960's would have been on Gov't benefits, and lastly, was never made to be accountable for her actions and sorry decision making; and always wanted everyone to celebrate her essence… Wow, a true feminist story!

  10. This Psychological Profile of so called Toxic Black Male paved the way for "The Crime Bill" and terms like "Super Predator", The Color Purple was the Trojan Horse to usher in these laws using these false ideals and concepts.

  11. Thank you, sister. I felt this way after watching the movie a 2nd time in my 30s. I picked up on 60 percent of what you said here back then. The 40 percent you brought out here, which I didn't know of, is powerful. Thank you. 😢

  12. I don’t agree with everything in this video, but you are right that Shug Avery does not deserve a good portrayal. She abandons her two children and they are briefly mentioned but never seen in the book. Then, she keeps having affairs with everyone under the sun. That is not a strong women. I feel like Celie’s final relationship with her is just forced. There is no need to have any kind of relationship with her at all. They become friends over time which is fine but her suddenly leaving to become empowered makes no sense. She only fights back when she realizes she lost her sister. She has no dilemma at all about leaving when she is younger. A lot of women put up with the abuse for decades, but they have many reasons. One is the issue of the welfare of their children and another is the question of where to go. Celine doesn’t explore that at all early in the book like most people would have. Her staying would have made sense since she would be leaving her step children behind. The messed up part is that she does not get a reward in the form of respect even from her step kids. The sacrifice she gave for them should mean that they should have some form of care for her. Becoming like Shug was never the answer and neither is it empowering.

  13. Color Purple and Roots both grossly misrepresented history.

When historians asked the author of Roots why he lied, he responded "I wanted to give black people a myth to live up to".

  14. 1:11:40 Yep, you’re absolutely right my mother used to say that when I was a teen. One time my girlfriend asked to come over and I said yes, you can come over here well her parents wanted to come so they could meet my parents and see what type of people were that was playing with their daughter. Immediately when they sat down I noticed that HER father was doing the majority of the talking and I didn’t really see anything wrong with it. But, my mother pointed it out how her mom wouldn’t look up and talk she allowed the man to do all of the talking and he dominates over her she’s afraid of him.

Needless to say, the girl and I never became friends until much later when we were grown, which ended up being a couple of months before my mom died.

  15. IMHO, the “media event” that had equivalent impact on Black America was the original “Roots.” Only, this had an effect that was both far more enduring and far more detrimental. This will also be a PSA for both the SYSBM and Passport movements. I can’t, don’t and won’t blame any brother who opts all the way out of dealing with this misandry right off the rip. Were I young and single, I’d head on out too.
