Increasing numbers of babies in the UK are being put in danger because their parents cannot afford the high cost of baby formula milk.
Tubs now range from £9 to £19.
It’s prompted parents to steal formula milk, use condensed milk instead or buy open second hand tubs of the powdered milk online.
The British Pregnancy Advice Service has told Sky News’ Tom Parmenter that the issue is a scandal putting the UK on the brink of a public health crisis.

Perhaps if they cut back on booze , cigarettes and body piercings they could afford to buy REAL FOOD .Expressed milk can be put in a baby bottle. They should take the opportunity to lose weight.

It's the cost of heating, good inflation that's causing shortages in peoples pockets. It not the price of formula alone it's all the other costs that have burdened families. Government has no morals anymore just see the population as a business. The more they can earn from us the better for GDP that's all it is.
.. we need to be honest here and admit that …not everyone who uses the food bank are genuine….people are spending money on non essentials knowing they can get the formula at food banks… probably pick up a bit of shopping while they're down there… its a bit of a piss take really… and the sweet women who work there think all cases are genuine…. sad times…. should be classed as stealing from a charity for the repeaters who have nights out, nails, new clothes, mobile contracts, fresh tattoos 🙄

What happened to Healthy Start Vouchers? That used to cover 4 tubs a month when I was in poverty! I feel awful that people are struggling, thankfully we are in a much better position now but I couldn't stop breastfeeding even if I wanted to as it's so expensive to formula feed, I can't imagine what people in poverty are going through.
If more mothers breastfeed their babies when possible, they wouldn't be in that situation

I was told by a mother who chose exclusive formula feeding that my baby would be malnourished because babies need formula. Thats how hard formula propaganda is hitting societies.
