13:51 you forgot to mention one of the most loved Vigilantes of many fans, Blade. The main character was black and that added to him being immune to the sun. We all loved Blade and the way he talked and acted was all black. Very cool character and all 3 movies were a hit making +$130 million in box office . I also loved Spawn, again black main character. Simply because they werent tokens, they were very well written characters
These feminazis keep telling everyone that "you don't know what the shows going to be about it might turn out good" when we first hear about the annoucnements, but we keep seeing the same thing. Male character has a show that's coming out, the first few episodes are about the male character, suddenly a female character is introduced, and slowly the female character becomes more important than the male character and replaces him in his own show! It's happened over and over and over and over again and it's tiresome and boring and unbelievable!

Honestly I'm giving a like for the amazing video but being a gay man I would like to share my opinion.
Which is basically: white straight cis men have ruled the world and spreaded a lot of hate and specifically targeted minorities for centuries if not millennia.
That's your Blindspot if you're privileged and not doomed for only being born like the rest of us.
Is it that surprising that we are pissed, that we don't give a shit about your media and we shove ourselves in the worst possible way down your throats at each given opportunity? If we continued that for centuries it wouldn't erase racism, homophobia, sexism and so.

I do not agree with the "woke culture" I absolutely hated birds of prey, all men were evil and dumb and the females were not competent at all, I still gag everytime the bow lady asks for her bow and punches a guy with it, like wtf it's a bow. But I understand where it all comes from.
I'm glad you recognized that a lot of people hate new things and hate characters simply for being diverse or for being a woman. It's a thing.

I would hate watching a show where the big twist is that the main character is gay, and for being gay he gets away with everything even if it doesn't make sense. I'm sad to say but giving that women are still being oppressed, beaten, abused and seen as an object. The woke culture is a needed wave, like painful medication that stings for a bit, but in time when these creators feel safe and heard they will create not from trauma but out of love, passion and talent.
Even in first world countries black people, women, LGBTQIA+ people are being hated, tortured, abused and killed on a daily basis. You compare that to an incel mad because his show has gone bad with the "woke" thing and y'all look like a joke. You don't get our pain, you're privileged.
Here is an example: I was browsing YouTube for fun the other day and a major content creator with millions of views was reacting to a show called something like "find the straight" it was a group of gay men and one hidden straight guy, then they talk about what they hate about straight men, which I'm sorry to say, as a straight man you could do yourself a favor and not watch it or if you're are watching just shut the f up, don't comment with ignorance. And guess what, the white Blondie cis straight male YouTuber said "flip the script, what do you hate about gay people?" As if we weren't being killed left and right, as if we didn't got enough hate.
There's a lot to hate about straight guys, white guys. You don't see many queer or women raging war, threatening with nukes, creating bigoted flawed laws, embracing a ton of hatred against minorities. The vast majority of serial killers and abusers are white straight men.
So I wonder, do you want to flip the script on racism too? Do you need a white people's day? A straight people's day? How much danger are you in for holding hands with your girlfriend? How many innocent white guys are murdered by police?Apparently you must have suffered and fought a lot to survive, is not like you've been like cancerous cell spreading all across the globe, taking, destroying and dictating while attacking minorities for a hobbie.

Literally a clone knows his existence is meaningless yet he fosent want ro execute the life that was predetermined by his biology. So he eacapes teyint to find his destiny, that would have been such a perfect opportunity for a character that learns to master the lightsaber without any knowledge or inherent ability of the Force. The. We got Rey eho was introduced later in his story who later became thr protagonist of the following sequels. Just because thr interesting first Protagonist was killed in thr same film he was introduced.

I actually really enjoyed the first 2 volumes of Aphra. Especially the arc where she's linked to a murderous droid and if they stray too far from each other or are destroyed they both explode.
I've only read the first 2 volumes, but I never found them cringe. It was nice change compared to most of the garbage writing coming out of modern Star Wars books/comics.

Yeah Daisy Ridley has got talent, that's not an issue. The writing though just reeks of bad fan fiction. I'm sorry the EU (Extended Universe) was better. Daisy Ridley for example would have been an incredible actress to play as Jaina Solo. Not sure about her brother Jacen but so much lost talent into a plot that looks like it was written by a 12 year old with the imagination of a mushroom.😭
I can think of a few easily digestable reasons why Woke characters fail:
1) 9 times out of 10 they are riding on the cottails of an established character/franchise, showing a lack of creativity and originality. Often this is done at the expense of an existing character who needs to humbled and pushed aside.
2) The moralising is VERY surface level and lacks subtlety. The writer smacks you over the head with the Woke message and uses their OC to push that message.
3) The Woke MC is never challenged or made to question their beliefs. They are treated as morally in-the-right and never change their perspective. They never grow because they are already "right" and perfect, the world has to come around to see things their way. There is no Heroes Journey.
4) The Woke MC is very shallow and self-centred, but their negative traits are not treated as flaws they need to overcome. More often than not they are vindicated in the end and are never forced to see past their biases.

This is something that really hits hard when you are part of the LGBTQ+, we already have people againt us, and having self-insert fantasies only makes it harder to get some good representation for us, mostly because people thinks we actually like this kind of stuff, we just want good characters we can relate too, not already existing one trying to "be like us", as well as them, we are more than our sexuality but sadly this make us look like some kind of cult that wants to turn everyone gay and stuff.
Im startin to belive this all pat of a big propaganda plan to turn people against us, like "look at this people they are turning GAY everything you like" , jk jk, but for real is starting to look like it.
Because woke ideology boils people down to what checkboxes they tick, using characters only as vessels for empty representation that’s literally skin deep, woke ideology is simply antithetical to good character writing because they already don’t see real people as, well, people.

14:05 This is pretty interesting because when you back away and look at it you can see "wait, why are most of the good examples men?" Hollywood will produce "diverse female characters" who are simply the sum of their traits literally serving as objects of the checkboxes they're marking.
