Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK, Vadym Prystaiko, has appealed for more sophisticated weapons to defend the country against Russia.
It comes after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s whistlestop tour of European countries, including the UK, where he told Prime Minister Rishi Sunak that he wanted to create a “jets coalition”.

Russia cannot be defeated without nato getting directly involved, at best Ukraine can get in a better position where it can negotiate. It is completely asinine to think Ukraine can defeat Russia on the battlefield, or take back any large amounts of territory. This is just costing more lives. We need to demand that our leaders force Zelensky to the negotiating table. Otherwise, we are continuing this proxy war at the determent of the Ukrainians.

Getting a fighter jet isn’t like getting a new car. Next step after jets feels like “we need maintenance support”….then, “protect maintenance teams”….let’s get real with the timelines. Takes more than giving away fighter planes, takes time and planning.
I'm not convinced on the efficacy of providing f16s. Those jets are literally 50+ year old and will get farmed by modern s400+ Russian missile defenses. Another problem is that Ukraine cannot safely store these jets in their country because Russia can literally strike anywhere. The west needs supply longer range missiles, and approve Ukraine to strike back at the locations where these missiles are being launched, including Crimea, Belarus, and Russia. Then we need to ramp up more missile defense systems and send them to Ukraine right away.
Once the above is accomplished, we shouldn't even bother with the f16s, just send them f-35s because we know that those will outmatch anything the Russian airforce has.

Additional European countries are also preparing to join the "jet coalition." Active discussions are taking place with Germany, Italy, France, and other nations. It is apparent that the war can only be swayed by providing assistance in the form of weapons and necessary resources.

This constant demand for more sophisticated systems gives the impression of inadequacy of western weapon systems. These are actually not able to stop the Russians, let alone roll them back.
