Florida’s higher-speed rail service, Brightline, officially unveiled its new Orlando Station on Thursday. Orlando Mayor Dyer said he wants to see Brightline’s station at the Orlando International Airport connect with the SunRail commuter line.

The only way Brightline and SunRail will touch soon is if Brightline continues west to Meadow Woods. Waiting on the state or feds will let this project die on the vine.

Sunrail will connect to the Airport Intermodal Terminal as well, it has like 3 platforms 2 tracks both being terminus station for both routes. There’s already a rail spur going south from Sand Lake Road Station going to the airport, so seems easy enough to implement.
What about Sunrail going to Orlando/Sanford? Would be a game change if able to switch airport via train and have both airports be connected by rail. it too having a rail spur by the airport
Nationalize rail
I’m in Atlanta so I’m not sure why this story was recommended for me – the train connection I suppose. 61 miles of commuter rail! Wow! Just highlights what a horribly managed infrastructure we have up here given how much larger Atlanta is. Obviously, Orlando is kicking our butts on this!
If sunrail connects to the airport, it will be a game changer for the entire system. Especially if it's also connecting to the destinations of Disney and Universal
There is one problem with this. Sunrail uses low level boarding trains and Brightline high level boarding trainsets. So Sunrail needs to buy new high level rolling stock and needs to upgrade all their stations.
"once funding is approved", i.e. never. Brightline has worked exactly because it's not publicly funded. Floridians will live and die for the car, so they'll never approve funds to extend the sunrail.
The problem is Sunrail doesn’t really go anywhere useful. Orange County would be so much better to try and be light metro to actually connect up different parts of Orange County then a train that goes no where useful.

This should have been up and running to connect to SunRail the day Brightline opens at MCO. Makes no sense to not have it up and running. It should have connected from day 1. SunRail and/or Brightline needs to connect to Universal, I-Drive, Disney to make this all make sense and keep those trains full.
Bout time we get some trains
Many of who are well-off cannot use this train service. They do not accept cash. Everyone MUST use a credit card or a smartphone. Both of which many of us don't have nor want. Not only is that cruel and inhumane, but it is also one of the evils of a "cashless" society.
Florida always looking for federal handouts. Sad. Start paying your own way.
