  1. Thank you for the last thoughts about them not trying to redeem the game beyond bug fixes and AI. Too many studios waste time with that instead of learning and moving forward.

  2. This started with Deathlooop, the Ai specifically. People praised that game but if you look further a lot of the lesser big named reviewers did not care for it and some of the reasons are very similar to that of Redfall. Now Deathloop is not as egregious, but the cracks were already starting to show.

  3. Cohh, all valid points. I'm sure your schedule as a creator precludes this, but if you have half and hour: watch Mortismal's 100% review video. It's worth it on this one.

  4. I think the most important part of this review is @4:06 – going in with no expectations. That, ALONE, should be the rule for almost all games someone buys. If you go in with expectations, you're going to be disappointed because nothing will ever live up to what you want for the price point you think it's worth. Having the rule of "no expectations" prevents you from having outsized expectations and, as a result, is far more an objective standard than anything else you can come up with. And then, if you go in with no expectations, and it STILL sucks, then that's the best negative review anyone can give.

It also keeps you from listening to reviews that may or may not have agendas (not a comment on Coh's here)

  5. Saying "Redfall seems a indie's studio 1st game" its a huge insult, so i wouldnt call this a mid/average game cus it was developed by a big company

  6. "Mid" means middle of the road. This game is way below "standard" saying it's not terrible it's mid is crazy to me. Saints row and dead island 2 are mid. This game is SHIT, not mid.

  7. I think even marking it as ''aggressively standard'' is being generous. This game is a mess. These triple A studios need to be held more accountable for stuff like this or else we will see them set the bar lower and lower each year. The fact we are now at a stage where developers are relying on patches to bring the game up to standard is a joke in itself. Studios should look to pay heavy fines or delay the game to a date which they know they can get it to acceptable standard. Redfall like a vampire is soulless in every aspect. Everything you do feels like it carries no weight. I'm beyond disappointed and in future I will never get a game on release again. So sad that that nostalgic feeling of getting excited about a game and getting to play it on release is being s**t on by lazy and inconsiderate developers and publishers.

  8. You (Cohh) and so many streamers can have so much power against Video Game Companies, change the Video Game industry and you don't use it it's such a shame… It's been what 3-4 solid years where 85% of AAA games all come out broken and get fixed months later, but people still buy them on day one, so nothing happens?
How about you guys (as streamers) start telling your community "Enough is enough, let's stop buying games on day one that are massively broken/don't work, until Video Games companies start releasing FINISHED games again"

Jedi Survivor is still barely playable on "performance mode" on xbox/ps5 after a week.
Redfall definitely needs couple more months of production…

We shouldn't have to pay 70$ for a game that is months away to be finished.

I know people will just say "Then just wait", which is fair.. but when you spend 70$ on a game that is supposed to be done I shouldn't have to wait. If you know it's broken then declare it as Early Access…

  9. Microsoft/Xbox have been doing the little things right for years. They have Game Pass, a slightly "stronger system" in the Series X vs the PS5, they integrate features with backwards compatibility, 1440p support, Discord support (although PS5 has it now), better VRR support vs PS5, they're quicker to implement 60FPS/120FPS upgrades over Sony. I'm sure there are several other things I am missing as well. The point is, all the QOL stuff, Xbox nails it. There's so many little things with Sony that bug the hell out of me.

Having said all that, over the same time span roughly, Xbox has not released ANY memorable exclusives that are good games. What do they have? Halo and like Gears of War? 10 plus years ago those games were incredible. We can sit here and list off at least 10 exclusive Sony games that have been bangers, and maybe 1 to 3 for Xbox. At the end of the day, it comes down to the games. And if Starfield ends up not being good (which I think it will be awesome, I built a PC specifically for it), all these billions of dollars they spend on acquisitions and exclusivity are MEANINGLESS.

  10. Sounds like No Man's Sky release. Indie quality with a AAA (in this case AAA++) pricetag.

Studio's need to remember: Price sets the expectations. Not your trailers, not your hype. Doesn't matter if you're a small indie Dev steam or a big studio, the expectations of the pricetag always apply.

  11. I will just wait till there is a big sale on it down the line, and pick it up then, maybe. At least I will know what I am getting myself into, and not feel cheated pricewise.

  12. Arkane can do better as seen from their previous games. Really hope they move on from this game after fixing the AI and improving the optimization.

  13. waited a long time to play this, saw it as Borderlands mixed with Stephen King and vampires, deathloop was awesome. Super disappointed hoping for a big patch to fix it and a discount and ill give it a try. Thanks for the review

  14. I agree with a good chunk of your statements here. It's definitely a standard "Stupid-Fun" style game, instead of an "Experience" style game that Arkane usually gives. And DEFINITELY shouldn't cost $70. That said, I will also counter-argue that Arkane games (including the first Dishonored) historically don't do well at launch. It's only after each title secured their niche audiences (and the games' bugs were patched) that they really got their reputations. Case and point, look at Deathloop and Prey. Those two games were bashed to hell as being mediocre at launch, and didn't get followings until about a year after they released.

I do wish Microsoft wouldn't have firm on the release date though. If the game had even a month more in the oven, it would have been better off.

  15. Cohh, your informed honesty is most welcome and appreciated. The story behind games like Redfall, CyberPunk, Fallout 76, etc…, as you have pointed out with each encounter with such games, is usually corporate misunderstanding and incompetence. I am 65 years old and the truism of the corporate mind simply not placing the creative mind and process above profits is as true today as it ever was.

  16. When I first saw Cohh's thoughts videos I didn't think I'd end up watching them religiously as I now do. He's a really good reviewer. I'm very sad about this game – and my bar isn't set so high, I loved Dead Island 2 even. Prey 2017 is one of my favourite games ever in terms of worldbuilding and exploration, I seriously hope Arkane make an enormous comeback with a stellar Prey 2.
