The Kamasu has been the $200 #1 for the last 2.5 years now. Can the San Martin claim the crown? You’ll find out in about 15 minutes. Cheers, Jody

  1. Orient squeezed by on Brand clout. I think that’s a pretty impressive showing by San Martin. I agree that the branding and movement are important but think how amazing San Martin may be in another 30-40 years if they’re this good after only 5 years.

  2. 🤚 question…I just got mine. Ordered the Miyota 8315 version. Is the second hand supposed to jump back and forth when the crown is pulled to set the time? It has hacking, but a pretty loud rotor..should I be concerned? Thanks in advance for replies

  3. For me, if you’d added a very subjective ‘Looks’ category of course double weighted, the SM would have crushed the Orient in my book. I personally think Orient divers just look cheap 🤷🏻‍♂️

  4. San Martin shouldn't have skimped on the movement. Is that at least the newer hacking miyota? Why did they go chunky on the original design? They hardly ever go bigger than 40mm on most of their watches?

  5. In the real world the San Marten is a micro- brand and over scored by you a $200 Non hacking dive watch is a non starter for me. In my opinion even a 1953 Invicta 31290 could and should beat a San Marten at $100.

  6. Are you seriously comparing this 2 brands? I mean one is a replica maker from china that started making watches like 1 year ago and the other is a huge brand with heritage and weight in horological history…. I understand that san martin sponsors you, but makes no sense. Even tho i also respect and really like san martin stuff

  7. How do you get San Mar-tan, out of this watch brand's name? Jody, I love you like a foot, but this drove me crazy through the whole thing. It won't stop me from watching, but you can't stop me from laughing.

  8. Be aware bought the green Kamasu over a year ago and the green dial has faded to almost black on the face. Def not the cool green when i bought it. Orient claims no responsibility but for $85 they will change the face out for me. Won't be buying another Orient

  9. Ok…. But the thing about the Orient is it's imperfect out of the box, therefore making it perfect, like the skx to mod…. therefore giving it plenty of potential…. Whereas the San Martin is pretty much as good as you can get out of the box, no amount of mods will improve it unfortunately. Therefore in my eyes there's only one winner.

  10. Surprised about San Martin using the Miyota movement usually they use NH35 at this price point. Also San martin usually has pretty good lum. Interesting to wonder how a different San Martin might have fared.

  11. The newer Kamasu has a slightly more refined coin edge bezel and polished chamfer edgings to the case, just FYI. It may have won over some of those categories VS its older counterpart.
