  1. Then in MegaMan 6 they tried to pull that "It's not Dr. Wily this time…syke!" for the third time…yet Mr. X in the manual is about the most lame pathetic excuse for a disguise I ever seen! Geez I do wonder who that could be under that outfit… 😛

It's mind blowing they somehow managed to get SIX MegaMen on the NES…and for that last one especially they really pushed the NES to its limits graphically.

  2. No Nier automata? What with having to beat the game like 7 times before you get the true ending and its not a rogue like that you are expecting to have to play over and over to get the proper ending

  3. The Inverted Castle from Symphony really was out of left field. Keep in mind, this is a Castlevania game. If you played the last popular entry, Castlevania 4, you know that the game can be beaten in a handful of hours. Less if you were adept at it. So, beating Ritcher really did feel like the endgame. You got a short ending, which is nothing by today's standards but was totally in line with the past games. And that was it. The only oddity was that unlike in the past games, you never actually fought Dracula in this title. But that's fine, maybe they reversed things. After all, you played a Belmont in past titles defeating a vampire, so SOTN was the opposite, playing a vampire defeating a Belmont. It tracts.

Sure, some people on this new fangled thing called "The World Wide Web" said there was another castle but they also said you could revive Aeris in FF7 and that turned out to be a lie. But you did have fun with SOTN so why not go back and play some more. Go into areas you never visited. And maybe figure out a way to get passed that hallway filled with spikes. What was up with that? Only after doing all this did you get two mysterious rings that read "Wear….Clock" and "…In…Tower". What? Wear the clock in the tower? Ok, let me grab the stop watch and run around the tower. Yeah, nothing happened. There was that one clock room. Using the clock in there moves some statues but that wasn't really anything special. Wait, maybe the message is "wear in clock tower" like wear the two rings. We have two accessory slots so it's possible and….Whoa, something is happening!

And yeah, you can guess how it went from there.

  4. Malenia Blade of Miquella from Elden Ring wasn’t on this list? After the first phase I was so happy to have beaten her after around 10 tries! And then the second phase happened… That’s when I finally learned to not celebrate to early and I’ve been playing dark souls since the first one launched.

  5. Final Fantasy 3/6, where you think everything is just about over during the peace talks with the Emperor, and then Kefka kills him, destroys the world, and it basically turns into part two of the game.

  6. Dishonored. After the dispatching the Lord Regent, the very same man who betrayed and framed you for murder, you return to the main hub to celebrate your victory with a drink before heading to bed. You then discover your allies have betrayed you and poisoned you in order to seize power for themselves but Samuel, the boatman, manages to spare your life by halving the dosage put in your drink. It really took me by surprise since that there no major targets left to tackle and when the camera started fading in and out I imagined it was the Outsider calling Corvo back to the void to remove his mark after completing his journey.

  7. The first time a final boss faked me out like this was playing Sunset Riders in the arcade. We were down to our last quarters when we thought we beat the boss. I even put my head down on the controls. My eyes were right next to the screen so the boss was very pixelated when I saw him stand up, laugh, and then a metal plate fell out of his shirt. Thankfully we were able to take him down before running out of money!

  8. How about the opposite: games where you didn’t realize you were fighting the final boss? I just finished Chained Echoes. (I’ll keep this spoiler free.) Despite the game telling me I was going to the final battle, the story hinted at bigger baddies than the final boss, so I was a little surprised to find out that was it.

  9. Dude – Days Gone to this day felt like it would never end. And I was totally OK with that! I was kept on edge wondering how in the hell were they going to keep the story going? Like where else could it go!? Too me 24 streams to beat the main campaign and its too bad they had such a bad launch because it deserves a sequal.
    * I'm surprised that a lot of people didn't get the inverted castle. The first time I played it, I found the items I needed to see Shaft is Controlling Richter when you fight him while going through the castle. Did a lot of people not really explore at all? From what I remember you didn't have to go far our of your way to get them. I also was of the mind that it had to be something like mind control especially based on the interactions with Maria. Anyway…..to this day I've gotten the Crissaegrim ONE time. In all of my playthroughs over the years, I've gotten it once. It was glorious. I shall tell my children of its wonders! Seriously though – the miniscule drop rate on the thing is nuts.
