  1. I have a few big issues with burning shores. 1. if you have max level stuff and know your playstyle already there's no reason to use the new weapons because of how the upgrade system works. It's just a waste of time. 2. there's a lot of just empty map space that has nothing on it but a few machines. not even machine sites, just random machines. like the entire southern third of the map is optional as is most of the west. it's kind of weird how little the space is used. 3. spoiler

the specter gauntlet sucks and there's no reason to use it. did I enjoy my time with the burning shores? yes. would it have been better served as non endgame DLC? I think it would have.

  2. I loved this DLC, I've already 100%-ed it (and that patch from yesterday didn't fix the missed Heaven¢ datapoint 😮‍💨), but I actually really disliked Seyka. I was let down by her character, the actress' performance was great, but the whole Aloy/Seyka relationship felt forced, and Seyka was written very surface level IMO. Idk… That's my only real gripe.

  3. Y’all this DLC was amazing. I can no longer trust your reviews. This had everything, epic story, epic boss fights, epic traversal, sound, music, enemy design… mixed bag?? Y’all delusional… just admit you are not personal fans of the game

  4. “While you the player engage in combat the same way you did throughout the rest of the dlc and Forbidden West as a whole.”

It feel so familiar because it’s the same combat and gameplay from any average AAA game. “Press button at exact moment or die gameplay”. It’s tired because it’s the same gameplay we’ve been dealing with for 2 decades.

  5. Other than the relatively shorter playtime, I loved Burning Shores. I do agree that some of the visuals are just set dressing. Aloy's progression as a character is fantastic.
I also actually enjoyed the antagonist. Not a complicated villain, but delightfully repugnant.

  6. I think this dlc did the antagonist so much better than forbidden west. They had him way more chiseled out even though he was a bit of a moustache twirling baddy (moustache twirling baddies are awesome in my opinion.) the antagonists in forbidden west felt a bit like anakin going from Jedi to yes master sith way way too fast. There weren’t a lot of development of the bad guys. Over all I loved this expansion great game

  7. Once I found it that they made Aloy a lesbian, I’m done with this game entirely. It has nothing to do with being gay. It’s the fact that everyone has to push a subject that inevitably has nothing to do with the story. Making characters gay, black, etc. This story has no reason to push that subject, yet they had to do it because the media demands every character in the every show/movie/game has to be something other than straight and white.

  8. I got this on ps4 due to not having a ps5 at the time. I really don't want to move this onto the ps5 just for the dlc, I have so little room already…..

  9. My take. It's a great game.

Problem – it should have been part of the base game. A good DLC adds a storyline outside of the main game.

Red Dead Nighmare was the perfect example of a DLC. Witcher 3 had excellent DLCS.

All Burning Shores did was pave way for Horizon 3. The base game should have already done that. I started it as a level 50 and had little to no problem beating the game.

With that said, the boss fights are amazing. They did update the graphics and it looks better than before. Is it worth $19.99? As a fan of both base games, I didn't mind it. But I understand the hate from others.

  10. Fair review. I enjoyed HFW and the dlc, but it should have been longer to develop the Seyka relationship more fully. It was nice of them to put the thunderjaw and slaughterspine next to each other for those who completed cauldrons.

  11. So next time, Sony should contact the fans for approval because if they don't, they will be upset because the DLC was twenty dollars without 100,000 hours. Dave Chapelle was right people today are a bunch of —— pathetic.

  12. Honestly I was a bit let down by the DLC. The upsides are a new storyline to follow. A couple of cool new machines. Some new quests and a new area to explore. The downsides are that it could have been a little longer I'll admit. You only get two new machines. One of which as Josh pointed out has a cool new mechanic that's kind of underused. Once you've finished the main story there's not actually that much more to do other than collecting a few things and some quests that I'm having trouble finding. It comes with a $30 price tag in Australia so for that I would have liked a little more. But I still enjoyed it

  13. Imo the DLC was excellent for what it was. It’s not a major expansion but additional mind-blowing content. The storyline and villian were pretty good, the visuals were stunning, the new skills, weapons, machines, and features were amazing, the dynamic/romance between Seyka and Aloy was natural and genuine chemistry, and the boss fight was amazing. Though I am slightly disappointed with the boss fight because my expectations were slightlyyy higher given how menacing a Horus is in the lore but other than that, I feel the DLC did a great job in expanding upon FW

  14. I think that the weakest elements were the abundant bugs (specially the Aerial Captures) one and the shortness of the main quest. Don't get me wrong I love playing it, but Frozen Wilds was so much bigger with so many other side quests.

  15. Fair comment. This definitely felt like a DLC for the fans as a lot of the really great stuff was in the real detail that most players aren't that interested in, the aerial captures, the collectables, the open world datapoints you could find by wondering the map. Also, all the combat options, you really have to pick a build now as they've added a lot of variety if you're not familiar with the fundamentals it can feel a bit over the top.

  16. I find Alloy such a boring and uninteresting character.

She is almost flawless and painfully 'good', it makes her character feel flat and two-dimensional..

  17. I adore the series but it already feels bloated 2 games + 2 expansions in. From needless gameplay types/minigames like the gauntlet races and machine strike boardgame to the sheer overwhelming number of collectible currencies. For the next full game in the series they need some serious editing. HFW needed refinement and focus from the glorified yet spectacular prototype that was HZD but they ended up going the other way. As for this DLC, i felt Frozen Wilds offered more new stuff or twists on the familiar. Burning Shores just offers more of what was already there.

  18. Everything was great for me the areas of the fights the cloud rendering , the underwater mounts the new dlc weapons and sekya being a great companion. I haven't even mentioned the story having a good plot or the epic ending . Just an awesome all around dlc for only $20 it was a steal . Definitely got my money's worth and then some 🔥🔥🔥

  19. I wish the travel to BS wasn't through a cutscene, but rather a journey like in FW (starting from the Gravehoard, climbing up). Could have made for interesting travel by air, and then later underwater (post DLC, finishing the experience).

Secondly, G Games could have gone the Mass Effect way in regards to the character relationship(s). It felt a bit forced to me, as Aloy basically falls in love with herself (in some aspects).

  20. Just finished it. I love Horizon so I am a bit bias. Zero was the only one I ever bothered to100% and only when it came out on PC (yes I have the PS4 version also). That said, I just finished it last night and the DLC, IMO is a bit short for $20 and one "personal" interaction in particular was very forced because it was so short of a game. Okay, I haven't fully finished that interaction but I cannot imagine it being any less forced in the pro-log.
My first play through was on "story" mode because I forgot I switched to it in the main game a year earlier to grind for weapon resources. I thought, this thing is going rather to easy on me, and when I realized it, I put it back to hard and I found out I was soooooo out of practice that the first frog mopped the floor with me and I wasn't really in the mood to relearn it all, so back to Story mode. It's sad I had to google how the heck to craft arrows and use the rope caster. I am certain I didn't use 1% of my skills from the skill tree. Just shot arrow, shot arrow, shoot arrow.

Really hoping the whole thing makes it to PC.
