It’s WarhammerFest day 1 and we’ll see the launch box for #new40k so why not get working on some new Tyranid schemes?! These guys are 3D printed but they’re the closest I could get to testing out the as yet unnamed Hive Fleets that were shown off as a teaser a few weeks back! Let me know which is your favourite, and if you’ll be starting a new Tyranid army to kick off 10th edition!

You didn't post the Cults link. 😛
The Red Boy for sure 🙂
Great video
wow, these look fantastic.
Where is the link to the stl?
Hm I havent painted tyranids for many many years, but those I have are actually in the first scheme funny to see it being adapted into something official and with the contrast paint I might actually be tempted to paint some of these again. Love the others and the video!
i really like the parts in which you ask us to believe you, cause at the end they work. Thanks!
For over a decade now, I have been unable to come up with such an unusual and attractive color theme for my custom Tyranid Hive Fleet that I'm completely satisfied with.
So far, I don’t like anything that I tried, in the end, I strip off the paint again and again ..
_
I'm thinking of inventing something special for my Seraphon, and then porting it to the Tyranids.
Wow they’re all great but that last one looks perfect
Got my scheme now thanks
What was the yellow used for the guns?
Don't ask me to choose!
This video does support my long held position that Tyranids are some of the most beginner friendly models for painting. They take to washes/Contrast and drybrushing so well.
Also, for future reference "chitin" is pronounced "kai-tn." The fact no one else had mentioned this in comments, suggests a lot of people don't know… I was even second guessing myself mentioning this.
i was wondering, whats the reason for the black undercoat and then the grey seer coat first? not gonna lie i do see the diffrence, but i want to know what the exact effect is. i normaly dont like the behemoth scheme(the red one) but damn yours looks soo f*ing cool O_o might actually get into that djessh ;D
Great video. Love all the schemes. Especially the last! How do I get myself some of those sculpts for practicing on please?
Really like the red but I have too many red armies I want to do something different but I’ll probably do red nids lol
I like the third one — in black. I am painting a Nid army in swamp colours of green and beige … not fully satisfied with it. Reconsidering life choices. Great video.
All three of these are gorgeous, been practicing my scheme in preparation, but you're definitely right that the small critters don't have good detail, it's made it very hard to guage how the color scheme would look on the larger creatures.
Tyranids aren't the bad guys, they just came to the galaxy to get a bite to eat. Its everyone one less who's being jerks about it.
Of the previewed ones, the bottom one with purple carapace and dark chitin. But I think I'd go with darker purple carapace, and blue tone for the skin over purple. And for nr 3, agreed not sold on swapping carapace-chitinskin colours between creature & gun. That might work better for big models, maaaybe.
Of the ones you did, the first one has an amazing deep red tone for the skin. Just for that, it's my favorite. I think it would look very menacing. It's also close to Behemoth if you adjust the carapace; the red tone would be fantastic for Behemoth imo.
And you can still add details, like a cyan-blue tongue, or a light-green tongue, and the openings on the legs & arms etc, if one wants to.
Very quickly yet well done!
As for army paint schemes, I'm thinking a yellow-green skin has potential.
Then I don't know about the carapace; copper-y, dark green, a deep purple…
I think tyranids are an army where one can get away with not using any of the 'primary' colors nor black/white.
2nd one is my fav tho.
I think it could stand a diluted bluish purple glaze on the carapace to tie it together a tad more.
Red guys. All the Red Guys. Rethinking my second Hive…
Number 1 for me! Are you at fest on the Monday? would be good to say hello
My new nid army will have one of these three schemes, not decided which one yet but it will be one of these, they look amazing, ill be using Speed Paint 2.0 as the wife just got me the new set along with the cidadel shades, can't wait to get started, just need to build up this patrol box!
Where is the link?
How are you getting such a glossy application, I love it so much but my test models look really dull by comparison T_T
There are three new hive fleets? Oh my that's bad news for the Imperium.
I liked 1, 3 and 2 in that order. I might try the third paint scheme since I already have a Khorne army and am really wanting to get the World Eaters.
The Red!
So which was your actual favourite?
I think i will do the last one but with the red carapace from the first one. I think this would give the last mini a bit more contrast and interest. Looks awesome. Hope to see a lot of Nidstuff from you 🙂
Second and third one are my favorites (even just stopping after the basic Contrast paints or with just the drybrushing follow up), but the first looks almost the easiest to paint for a "horde" army like the Tyranids.
I'll stick with my own Contrast based Tiamat Fleet scheme, though, can't let the previous models done for KT go to waste.
Sorry to make a request, but please could you consider listing the paints you've used so that we can refer back to buy them easily? Thank you.
