The Most Mysterious and Disturbing MASS EFFECT ICEBERG THEORIES

Lore icebergs explore the concept that fictional universes have many stories to tell beyond what we see in the main narrative. The main stories and content delivered in a direct fashion only scratch the surface, but much more can be discovered when we delve below the surface.

In this video, we’re going to explore some of the most mysterious and disturbing lore that can be found in the Mass Effect universe. We’ll be covering things like the possible survival of the Thorian, the little known connection between Aria and Wrex, secret dialogue you may have missed and the infamous Tali sweat controversy.

  1. Ardat Yakshi is a genetic disorder, but it’s present as a recessive gene in some Asari. Only asari who have both asari parents who are both recessive for it AND have their genes express would be Ardat Yakshi and that’s exactly what Samara tells us. What causes Ardat Yakshi is the genes activating. So what the reapers did is harvest asari who are het Ardat Yakshi and just insert the gene to activate it while husking them

  2. Assuming there are any other pods and that they had cut life supports but still have bodies of Protheans, they could clone the DNA from their bodies aswell, making Javik "fertile" again 😮

  3. I really love listening to icebergs being explained in background while I do something else. Especially when the creator speaks about it with real passion like you. Thanks for that and many other of your videos about my favorite franchise, keep it up!

  4. On the Normandy, after a few conversations (which is easier to get to with the DLCs and the fact the game lets you play after the main story ends) Legion also interestingly references the dyson sphere that you see in ME3 as well.

  5. I was there during the Bioware Social Forums existence. It was a pit of pure darkness, and I am ashamed I ever spent any time there. The only good thing it ever had was the tali helmet removal meme, where people shopped all kinds of things onto Tali's face after she takes the helmet off in ME2

  6. I love how the indoctrination theory is down on the lower tiers of every ME iceberg video. Because I remember that theory being talked about on the front page of basically every online video game publication and videos on it trending on youtube the summer of 2013 after one of the devs more or less confirmed it only to backtrack those comments later. Some of the first "long form" hour plus content I devoured on youtube were breakdowns on indoctrination theory lol

  7. Given that the Thorian existed as a distributed organism before humans encountered it, it seems possible that the spores that inhabit the colonists now are actually its current incarnation.

  8. I am one of the odd people that would sacrifice Liara for Kaidan. I felt like my Shepard would never quite forgive Liara for giving her corpse to TIM

I mean in the Shadow Broker DLC she kept your armor and dog tags. Didn't she think someone like your love interest or relatives would've wanted those to remember them by?

  9. Another observation I came up with is that the adjutants from the omega dlc look like the inusannon, especially their faces as both have beard like tubes in their faces. Also, Cerberus were able to produce these things from a mysterious reaper virus which I think the reapers created it from harvesting the inusannon. I don't know but I thought I should share this

  10. Great video!
For me Indoctrination Theory is the only way to make sense of the ending after all those years. And yes, it's a way of copium and I made my peace with that. Never forget Marauder Shields.

Also the true ending….. Shepard arm coming out of the rubble… That's after all the ending sequence ON EARTH and not much timr after Harbinger beam.

  11. But late to comment on this one, but Big Dan can you check something out at all?

So in mass effect 3, there’s the mission where the virmire survivor is protecting the council from Cerberus, culminating in a stand-off with shepherd.

I was watching some of your videos on alternate choices, and seeing how the results of the scene are scored, but then I wasn’t able to find any footage of the following scenario: Salarian councillor dies, so Udina shows the doctured footage suggesting Shepherd killed the councillor, BUT the Virmire survivor still automatically sided with shepherd because the score was so high.

Do you know if there is alternate dialogue for this scene if this is the way it plays out? If you romance the virmire survivor and don’t cheat on them, and rekindle the romance in Mass 3, does that get the score high enough to accomplish this?

Alternatively; Does anyone know where I can see that scene play out? (Other than re-downloading the legendary edition of the game and playing again from Mass Effect 1.)

does anyone know what happens in that scene? What does the Virmire survivor do/say?

The codex basically answers mysteries of Ardat-Yakshi – "The Reaper create them specifically from asari with active or LATENT predispositions to becoming Ardat-Yakshi" – latent meaning "lying dormant or hidden until circumstances are suitable for development or manifestation", where "circumstances are suitable" in this context could be translated to "two asari with latent predispositions make a baby asari"

  13. I don't think the Geth were using deep fakes. I think the Geth were just giving a one-sided retelling of events while leaving out the systematic extermination of Quarian civilians and their shoot-on-sight attitude for centuries.
There's a theory that the Geth destroyed the Quarian ancestor VIs because they were scared that they might become self-aware and rebel against them the way they did against the Quarians.
