Russia has a fleet of vessels disguised as fishing trawlers and research vessels in the North Sea, according to a new probe. The investigation claims that Russia is carrying underwater surveillance equipment and mapping key sites for possible sabotage. The Nordic broadcasters have aired an investigative documentary called “The Shadow War,” which summarises their findings. The investigation identified some 50 vessels that made suspicious journeys in the region over the past ten years. The probe found that these Russian vessels are part of a spying network operating at the North Sea in attempt to distinguish a sabotage strategy in case of a full-blown war with the West.
