The main Russian forces fighting in Bakhmut are the Wagner Group, Chechens and Donbass militias with Russian support. Russia called up 300,000 troops months ago and kept them in reserve. Now Bakhmut is in Russian control and the winter ends offensives by both sides are on the table. Bakhmut has decimated the Ukrainian army so another offensive will prove fatal for the Ukraine. Russia will call reserves to the front to consolidate gains and press forward if a truce isn't soon in place. The Russian cat toys with the Ukrainian mouse. This war must end for the sake of the Ukrainian people.
