Friends, Happy Easter! Christ is risen—Alleluia, Alleluia! Recently, I had a public conversation with the popular historian Tom Holland. Someone from the crowd asked him, “What’s the call of our time?” and he said, “Let Christianity be weird.” When I was coming of age, there was a tendency to reduce Christianity to just another vague mysticism or moral system. If that’s all Christianity is, who cares? I’m with Tom Holland: let Christianity be weird, because Christianity is weird. And a lot of the weirdness focuses on the thing we celebrate today: the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead.

Another wonderful video. If Bishop Barron were a sectarian Protestant, he could easily start his own "church" and fill the seats. I think that Christianity has been embedded in our Western civilisation and culture for so long that we forget how radical it actually was.d
Jesus proved that everyone can live on this earth and NEVER sin. The world threw everything it had at Him. He was born into poverty. He had to flee his homeland because a ruthless ruler had put a death warrant out on Him. He was visited and tempted by satan himself. He knew what it was like to be hungry, tired, frightened, and chose to pay for crimes committed by others Out of LOVE ALONE. One of His close friends betrayed Him and handed Him over to be tried for crimes He did not commit and for some that were not crimes but His accusers made them crimes. His other friends completely abandoned Him and he suffered frustration with them in life because they never understood anything He told them. He suffered ridicule and taunts and ultimately brutally tortured and killed in the most horrid manner conceivable And He never sinned thru all of it. That is why Jesus is our Judge and not God the Father. Jesus lived it all and suffered it all so no one could go in front of Him and say 'you have no idea what life is like the sufferings and hardship we have to put up with and then You think You are qualified to judge me when You never had to go thru any of it'. Jesus is our Judge because He did go thru all of it and can say to you 'I did it all and never sinned' so what is your excuse again?' If Jesus had sinned even once the world would not have been saved, we would never heard about Him and He would not be the Sone of God.
well, it is indeed weird. It also advocates for ignorance and fear. That its god has to need a blood sacrifice by torture to make itself happy is quite weird, and pointless since this god could have cleared everything up in Eden, rather than failing for thousands of years. that doesn't speak well to a supposedly omniscient and omnipotent being.
Thank you for this Easter sermon Bishop Barron! Let us not also forget that governor Pilate wrote real life letters to Emperor Tiberius describing Jesus and the massive influence he was having over the local people in Judea. There are undeniable historical artifacts that point to Jesus of Nazareth and the impact of his greatness among the local Jews!

I get it. But what about this: if you put a satelite on orbit it takes some time to find it's speed because there is resistance, that doesn't disapear but has now less affect. No,no, Einstein says, if the satelite arrives later in the rotation than the axe of earth, it's not due to resistance, it's because time goes slower the more you remove from the earth. And this weird, weird childish mistake known as the theorie of relativity serves scientist today falsifying astronomously and he was given the Nobelprice! refused to Saint John-Paul ll. The cross doesn't bother too much for the moment being, but if you contradict conventions… I love the weirdness of Catholicism, because it's the union of common sens with the common sens of God!

Catholic bishops are against assault weapons! Speak about this, Eminence, tell everyone thar a good Catholic should not use in civil live assault weapons, that assault weapons should be banned , that guns should be controlled, and tell Catholics that those politicians that support guns should not be trusted with support. Being Catholic means also that, and the Resurrection should give you, priests and Bishops, the courage to be a loud leading voice. It's always us, lay people, protesting and dying from such attrocities.
The Apostle Paul pronounced a curse on most churches today because the main Christian denominations of today preach a different gospel than what Paul preached. To quote exactly what Paul said, “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8). Both apostle Paul and Peter preached the same gospel and quote from the prophet Joel (2:32) saying, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of Yahweh shall be saved." (Romans 10:13 and Acts 2:21). The English translations say “Lord” instead of “Yahweh.” But “Lord” does not translate “Yahweh” it is a substitution of a totally different word altogether. This substitution activates two additional curses because if you substitute a word you are both adding and subtracting at the same time. “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18, 19)
We are commanded by Messiah that, “…repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:47). In other words, we are supposed to preach the gospel that came out of Jerusalem and not preach the gospel that came out of Antioch, or Rome, or England, or New York, or Chicago, etc. By the time the gospel got to Antioch it had already been perverted as we read, “…And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” (Acts 11:26). The problem with this is that YHWH spoke of a people called by His name (Deuteronomy 28:10; 2 Chronicles 7:14; Isaiah 43:6, 7; Daniel 9:19; Amos 9:12; Acts 15:17). YHWH did not choose the name “Christian” for Himself. The people of Antioch chose that name and all the so called main denominations of today embrace that name “Christian” for themselves. When Peter and Paul preached the gospel they quote the prophet Joel, “Whosoever shall call on the name of YHWH shall be saved.” (Joel 2:32; Acts 2:21; Rom. 10:13). The English word "Lord" is not a translation for the name YHWH but is a substitution. I ask you, how many of the church fathers and so called main denominations of today preach that gospel? None of them. Absolutely none!
“Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when He comes shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.”
Some people say that they are watching all the time but they overlook verse 38. “And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.” (Luke 12:37-38).
Under normal circumstances people are sound asleep during the second and third watch. Therefore Luke 12 is not talking about watching in a figurative way. The LORD is talking of a literal watch.
There are appointed times in the scriptures for us to fulfill a literal watch. In fact, all of the appointed times of holy convocations (moedim) listed in Leviticus 23 are watches and vigils of Yahweh. Each one of them are fulfilled by both an Old Testament and corresponding New Testament historical event.
In other words they will be assembled together in a holy convocation and not out and about driving cars and flying airplanes. Like the 120 were assembled in the upper room Acts chapter 2 for the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost).
Unfortunately, because of a man-made ecclesiastical calendar many will not be watching at the appointed time when He comes.
0:35 as someone who lives in India..i can certainly say that the western values which people take as 'general' values arent truly general..Human rights , care for the poor, care for women, etc are not that common here..

Just a few days ago I was contemplating how as Christianity has become pushed away from everything and marginalized, and the continuously growing adverse effects become undeniable to all regardless of Faith, Christianity is in a natural position by it's very nature to renew itself in vigor and fight with clear eyes and conviction again at last. The Catholic Church, though, must be the firm rock that all can be anchored by.
The most pressing issue in Christianity is the unholy alliance leaders have made with the state. In Barrons case he has repeatedly ignored scripture and the code of canon law and has refused to criticize any red state for their unbiblical merciless anti-abortion laws.
Let us also recall that it was women who discovered the empty tomb of Jesus Christ, such as Mary Magdalene, and for which the disciples corroborated and promulgated, during a time where women were second-class citizens. If the authorities were interested in crafting a pseudo-religion, the last thing they would want is for its legitimacy based on the account of women. Christianity is the epitome of weird; the refuge of dissidents and cultural rebels.

Righteousness goes beyond the base teachings of morality. The most ignorant backwater peasant, by pure instinct, will teach their children to treat their peers as they would want to be treated. Morality is the milk of religion in its infancy. But righteousness is the height of love and self-sacrifice for the good of the other at the cost of what is your own. This goes beyond the Jordan, of sharing one of what you have two of, or being content with what you have. Righteousness is imitation of God and those who practice it are called His friend (Isaiah 41:8).
As for the Romans being experts in torture: both St. Bridget and St. Mary of Agreda state that Christ received more than 5,000 blows during his passion. To honor them, 15 Our Fathers and Hail Marys a day, together with meditations on the stations of the cross.

Please I need someone's help here to understand more about the Holy eucharist, as I am almost becoming Catholic after studying catholic teachings on the Eucharist. My question is due to a heated arguement/discussion with a Protestant friend/coursemate of mine, who has gone to the extreme of saying not just holy eucharist, but holy communion is futile and useless, that is, she believes it is a practice new testament believers of Christ resurrection shouldn't partake, she likened what the Christian believers did in the Bible was love feast, i.e. just casual normal eating and drinking.
So we had a long discussion, and part of the verses she brought up that seems to point to what she was alluding was 1 Corinthians 11:17-22
She found a way of explaining away every other verses around there that was pointing to communion. I tried searching but I could not find any exposition on the above verses. Please can any one here help me out with some exposition, or book by some catholic author who specially did an exegesis of the above verses. Thanks alot, I would be very grateful if anyone would respond
