Our home is burning. Rapid climate change is destabilizing our world. It seems our emissions will not fall quickly enough to avoid runaway warming and we may soon hit tipping points that will lead to the collapse of ecosystems and our civilization.
While scientists, activists and much of the younger generation urge action, it appears most politicians are not committed to do anything meaningful while the fossil fuel industry still works actively against change. It seems humanity can’t overcome its greed and obsession with short term profit and personal gain to save itself.
And so for many the future looks grim and hopeless. Young people feel particularly anxious and depressed. Instead of looking ahead to a lifetime of opportunity they wonder if they will even have a future or if they should bring kids into this world. It’s an age of doom and hopelessness and giving up seems the only sensible thing to do.
But that’s not true. You are not doomed. Humanity is not doomed.

At first I thought it was hopeless, that humanity wasn't doing anything. After watching this video I realized its not as hopeless as I thought, now we still need to take ALOT more action, but knowing Im not alone really helps. God bless all those wonderful, wonderful people who are taking action to save our planet right now. Earth depends on us and we have a choice. Take it or leave it.

Is carbon capture really viable though? Currently carbon capture consumes big amounts of energy. So much so that you would need a power plant just for the carbon capture plant to work. Without energy generated by renewables that wouldn’t make any sense at all. Experts like Jean Marc Jancovici seem very confident about this carbon capture not being viable at all.

Breaking news, there is a new greenhouse gas! Here is how a website describes it: "SULFUR HEXAFLUORIDE: THE NIGHTMARE GREENHOUSE GAS". Sound like we really need to worry! As usual, the first thing that I want to know is how much is actually in the air, which you notice that they don't tell you. Turns out it is 3 parts in a TRILLION! No that's not a mistake. Isn't it incredibly obvious that such an infinitesimally small amount cannot possibly be raising the temperature of the atmosphere? The air is 98% nitrogen and oxygen, and the scientists say that neither one absorbs any heat to the air, which is absurd. However, there is a gas that is 3 parts out of a trillion, and that is a danger to the environment. Just to put that in perspective, 1 part per million is equal to 1 million parts per trillion. What greenhouse gas is next and how little will be in the air? 5 parts per trillion trillion? People say that they want to believe that the scientists cannot be wrong. However, when they say nonsense like the above that cannot possibly be true, and they don't even check to see how little is in the air, then how can they claim that we should believe what they say? CO2 is only 400 parts per million, methane is about 1 part per million, nitrous oxide is 333 parts per billion and all those numbers are extremely small, so the amount of heat that they could add to the air is also very small. Another web page says about SH, "The atmospheric concentration of the highly-potent greenhouse gas SF6 has never been higher." Really! It's never been higher than 3 parts per trillion? Who would have thought it?

I remember seeing somewhere that scientists working on gene changes and stuff (can't remember the name of those types of scientists) were working on trees that take up co² from the atmosphere much more efficiently, make them bioluminessent to remove the use of street lamps so that's another thing that might be implemented soon.

I’m crying because I truly feel hope. I don’t even remember the last time I felt that. I have tried to do my part for the environment but without really seeing a way out. However, after seeing this video, I know that we can do this together! Let’s roll up our sleeves. Donate some money to WWF (or some other organization that works in the field of reducing the human impact on the environment), try to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle and let’s spread some hope and awareness. There will be a better tomorrow if we work together!
