15:00 The fans killed Stargate. Gaters are the only fans, atleast that I have seen who will tell the show runners that they WILL NOT WATCH a show before it has even started filming. Gate fans boycotted SGU in protest to SGA being canceled. That is moronic. You do not get more Stargate by not watching the Stargate that is available. It was possible to get more Stargate If fans would have supported SGU. The people who declare they will not watch a SG production before the production company has spent any money really baffles me. When that happens they will just say… ok no one is going to watch I wont invest the hundred million then. At least let them invest before you declare you will never watch
Destiny’s launch date is confusing. In the show Rush said 100,000s of years ago, the comic says it was 1 million years ago, and Joseph Mallozzi says it was 50-60 million years ago.
The latter option makes the most sense in my opinion, as the 2nd Stargate found in Antarctica (the first gate placed in the Milkyway) was dated to be 50 million years old. The Destiny gates were much older than the Milkyway gates, so logically Destiny was launched before the Antarctic Gate was placed. So Destiny launched 50 million years ago sometime after the Alterans left the Ori in their home galaxy.
But how is an SGU only movie going to attract new series viewers unless SGU a new series?
It could possibly work if some conflict causes SG1 to need to find a way to get to Destiny. It has to be SG1 because RDA having been brain expanded in the past makes him able to access the means to go there?

The Ori home galaxy could now be run by a Council led by Tomin and they have engineers who could help, use an Ori Supergate to get to Destiny and then use Ori tech to create a blackhole and then bring Supergate segments through…bring Destiny to the Lunar Outpost, refit the crap out of it and then send it back out, with a crew that wants to go.
Shofoly, MGM research We want a TV series ? SG1 -SGA except movies quit finished. Scifi just another planet. Real outstanding new alien races. SGU movie we deserve to get to conclude it. Going bakc home ~? What use ? Star trek already cover all social issues we have encountered. Star wars, a good evil theme wich was in Star trek Nemesis like themed series, we have the wrath, something like. Destination needed to load power, flight computer dictated where to go so a endless exploration, without anywhere to stay, ST Voyager. Destiny being eventuay destroyed. What kind of superior aliens to come, real necesary if it to survive !

No hard reboot, the Tau'ri were OP but unlike Star Trek, Earth isn't united and governed by a single unified body it still has many voices that want to be heard and in control, the only unified force in SG was the IOA and they were technically crap.
The original Space Operas like the Commodore Grimes, Lensman, and Deathworld show that Space Operas don’t have to be, by definition, boring! And this is the way!

The Dr Pershing episode of the Mandalorian was setting up his redemption but the betrayal by Elia Kane is setting up something bigger, either a return of Moth Gideon or da da da…Grand Admiral Thrawn. The Foundling episode was setting the stage for Mando and Bo-Katan being more accepted by the clan as well as setting up Grogu's arc for his training.
Realistically if a movie is to be made it should be about saving Destiny thats the best way forward, it's been 10 years, perhaps we know how to create ZPMs now, or power sources that can gate to and from Destiny.
Either that or a film where Atlantis finally rids Pegasus of the Wraith, because we kind of just left with Atlantis and left Pegasus with all the awakened Wraith which was Earth's fault to begin with, no wonder they weren't fond of us. It's difficult picking up threads from past shows 10 years later, as we could have just done something to save Pegasus in that decade since.
Maybe Destiny pieces together the hidden signal and that either reveals how to ascend, or how to create more powerful sources, which we can then use to gate to other galaxies and that's what the show could expand on. Exploring these other galaxies with stargates, that other ancients built, new people, new lifeforms, new enemies.
What made Stargate great was gating to other planets each week, new civilizations etc. I feel like that'll have been done to death in the milky way now, we must have explored just about everything in the 10 years of SG1 and 15 years since SG1, with all those teams. Same with Pegasus, the whole galaxy was culled by the Wraith for thousands of years so nothing really got chance to evolve. I for one was sick of the Wraith by the end of SGA. It's probably my third favourite show. Universe had promise but it got off to too slow a start.
I think a movie could be done to resolve Universe, find a new ability to gate to other galaxies for a TV show, that'll give us that mystery of the week back we once had. Even if it's just one galaxy, a galaxy that was home to the Furlings, who made their own stargates, therefore it can even look like a different model.
I think aswell another show idea would be a series based in the time of the ancients, set after they returned from Atlantis or maybe even waaaaaay back before that to them developing the Stargate system and seeding them throughout the galaxy. The ancients overall I think were a bunch of dicks though, they allowed the Gould to rise to power, not to mention pretty much creating the Wraith then doing one when they couldn't control them. Then when they ascended refused to fix their mistakes of either races and allowed their second evolution to be culled and enslaved for thousands of years. But showing the time of them in their prime, of them exploring the species of the time would be something different.
I will repeat what I wrote before: right now, I'd be happy with a remake BUT ONLY if Amazon would finish the story of SGA and SGU, and only if they did it right… It's been too long and I don't see any way to end these stories with the original actors.

for me, SG1 and SGA are the best, but i most want an SGU wrap up. that one ended on such an open cliffhanger i need to know what happened next!
BUT that being said, i dont think an SGU movie is the best way to start a new franchise off. A new audience wont understand or have the connections to understand anything thats going on.
i think SGU movie needs to happen during the revival. get the stargate program up and running again as a new team, new everything. bring in some fan service to apease us Gaters. but keep it open for everyone.
THEN maybe part way during a season they could be developing tech or find something that can be used to save the destiny., and THEN that movie can happen – kind of like how SGA broke off from SG1

No need to kill (no need for hard reboot)! I already commented in some previous SciTrek video why it can be really interesting (and therefore not risky) to continue SGU by create a movie as well as series about Star-Gate-Multiverse/Multigate (SGM) with 10 chevrons for stable travel to any universes aka alternate realities (AR). But what about a power for 10 chevrons? Is there a solution? Yes! Actually, it was discussed in SGA when McKay created a bridge to AR and get another McKay from there. It was stated there that receiving energy from another AR can kill all living creatures there. However, this is not quite so! Actually, there is a way (even ways) in quantum mechanics to get it without killing. But in any case the whole crew of SGU must be saved! 🙂
Stargate Universe continuation. This is the way !
Bring back young clone Jack and have him be same guy basically but as Major Jack Oneill. He's a bit more modern as he had to attend school and teenage years as a completely different person in the 21st century. Cast best possible guy that can pull off the basic look of Jack. His first assignment at SG is the mission to rescue Eli and the SGU crew onboard the Destiny and things do not go well. Go from there…
I think the movie was aimed at a larger budget. Maybe establish lots of materials, props, CGI, and the like to simply be used in the tv series in addition to finding out the interest/success level. Also with the big budget, you could bring in all the cast and maybe a few brand names.
Unfortunately I've been watching you guys and only just subscribed yesterday because I do love Stargate and I'm torn between SG1 and Atlantis but this is my thoughts. We could do something with Stargate Atlantis based on the new aliens that they encountered in an alternate reality when they boarded the deadalus with the alternate reality drive, this would give them a new and even more powerful enemy to have to defeat And perhaps somehow we can incorporate The wraith in with it somehow which this would give Atlantis a reason to return to Pegasus
I see setting up the world would be hard. Given all the technology Earth would advance exponentially in a few years. Power generation is no longer a problem, advanced medical/health, robotic technology, instant travel, replications of all sorts of items, and repurposing of alien tech for a number of things. Everything would be super advanced of course the problem being other nations would advance faster and further tan others.
Id like to see some super advanced ships given all the tech upgrades. Pretty much everything would have to be redesigned as they are obsolete. so it would be interesting to see how all that would work out.
I love your argument on star trek and star wars I'm so happy i never watch it and Stargate is the best sci fi tv show ever i hope when they green lit Stargate you changed your channel to sci – gate because it's the best source of Stargate and you guy did great job of helping in bringing back the sleeping giant of sci fi

My movie idea, the world has gone mad with pc, the Stargate and all the craft including Atlantis are in mothballs. The Gould and wraith are now protected species on the endangered list, the Stargate cast are under investigation for war crimes. Enter the new big bad the anunaki who have come to enslave earth and strip it for resources, who can save us now? General carter puts together a rag tag crew to go up against the planet ship of the anunaki using the mothballed fleet . But it's too late. The earth is under control of the anunaki. Rodney who is in charge of doing research on Atlantis is panicking he needs to get Atlantis up and running before it's destroyed he needs a zpm. The fleet is failing sgc needs to go off world and get help, Rodney and his crew of cleaners, security guards and pen pushers, none of em military just normal working class guys do a runner in Atlantis not knowing how to work stuff properly this gives way to several spin offs the battle for planet earth, the misadventures of Rodney and the new sg1 searching the universe for help, and getting to sgu to bring back the ancient ship destiny which has a way to defeat the anunaki
People making these decisions in Hollywood are clueless at times. Many have probably never seen Stargate the movie or Stargate SG1. This is how crap gets made and franchises are killed. Very sad that only one of you on scitrek seem to know the history of Stargate. One of you hadn't even seen all the shoes so how can you speak to it sad.

The Nox as the Planet Builders?
Thanks Matt, You got me to think about this. Since we have control of the bridge of Destiny in SGU the second season, and in 1 episode they attempted to dial home when linked with the seed ship. Is there a possibility they can now call to the closest seed ship and have it stop or return ? If so, they will have a way to dial home ? The only reason they did not make the connection home was due to the fact the alien's started drawing power back to the seed ship ( The Awakening). As far as dialing Destiny, We had a way. The Langaran's, that Telford thought was talking with the Lucian Alliance. 10 yrs later, maybe we can make a deal ? Not a movie idea fan to start off Stargate series. But, SG1 ties into all 3 series, so to me that would be the movie to make. Even if it will be a start of a 4th series. The idea that you can use a first gen stargate like used in SGU to reach earth is not possible. They are not even capable of reaching from 1 galaxy to another. remember Eli and them almost got stuck in a galaxy when the ceiling caved in, in the caverns. luckily Destiny had an issue and stopped. Also most of the time only capable to reach a few stargates. So no bad guys from out by Destiny please. Dexter reboot or continuation started off exciting, but they ruined it. It turned to crap fast and just got worse. They should have left it alone with the original open ending. This is what we are all afraid of with Amazon and SGU. So many people hated Dexter new blood. The banter with Jay and Harris = priceless, loved it. Good show guys.

@43:00 or so, maybe refugees the Terrans have relocated to a new planet begin to resource the planet. The planet may be a home to the Nox or Furlings or people protected by them. The Nox or Furlings retaliate, and the Terrans come to the aid of the refugees, not realizing who the "antagonists" are and that the refugees are harming this planet. Just furthering the idea…
