Alternate Title: Don’t Tell Delilah
—————————————————————————————————-
Hello Everyone! GoldenNova here! One of my editors, Great Big Pillock, just recently had their birthday, and they wanted to celebrate by talking about one of their favorite decks: War Rocks! Having been lambasted by the community since release, these underwhelming TCG Exclusives actually ended up having some pretty nifty supplemental support, so let’s see what a second chance does for these Neolithic Knights!

Hello, avid War Rock enjoyer here! I absolutely loved this analysis video on one of my favorite archetypes. Yes, people may call them bad, but in my heart, they are one of the most flexible warriors that don't necessarily lock themselves to their archetype, as the worst they can do is lock you into Warriors which is not a big deal at all.
So here's my 2 cents on how to play War Rocks:
You can play them like a control deck. Sure, that may not sound fun or any better decks that can control the field better…but they're funny when they do it. Consider just forgetting using the Extra Deck and just put in cards like Ultimate Slayer, Dogmatika Punishment and even the duly hated Dimensional Barrier to effectively lower your opponent's options plus a way for the archetype to have non-battle phase related interruptions. If you want to survive a Battle Phase, aside from the mentioned Rookie Warrior Lady, you can also use Spirit of Neos (which is an unkillable body in battle and searches Poly for the fusion variants) or D-Hero Dynatag (which is searchable with Idaten! Though, that ultimately depends on you.). You also have access to Therion "Bull" Ain, for a pop. Good thing they have that huh?
Now if you want to hard focus on the battle aspect of the deck's gimmick, you already have options, again, listed in the video. More specifically however, the Heroic archetype enables the one thing that War Rocks surprisingly cannot do: OTK. With Heroic Morningstar being the most free extender AND searches any of the heroic spells that also extend, and it's a recipe for a gigantic disaster if your opponent does not stop you.
The fusion variant is where things get…creative. As mentioned, Kaiki and Kaiza are great picks but did you know they are a part of a very small archetype all about Warrior fusioning? The best one by far is Todoroki, which can easily special itself from the hand and is a quick effect poly in the Battle Phase, meaning if Todoroki attacks, you can immediately use its effect to poly to get another beatstick on the field.
There are a LOT of things you can experiment with the archetype and needless to say, that's what makes them so fun. They open a lot of things for what they already are (gactos extensions, mountain protection, spirit negate) and truly, I hope people give them a chance. Who knows, you might just unleash a great big War with powerful Rocks.
(Sorry. Okay, maybe not. Yeah, I'm not sorry.)
War rock and heroic challenger
I really like this deck. Gets a bad rep that I don't think it deserves.
I've been saying and a have to yell it a lot, It Depends On How You Build Your Deck And How You Play!
I don't see others complaining about Basic Insect because it's clearly a weak card but you can do more with it too, someone buffed MAXX C and won then any weak card is a good one "IF":
"You have to know how to play the card and use the card."
-Zane Trusdale
You have to find that sweet spot for war rocks, you gotta combine them, but they'll say they're only playable if "this" archetype carries them, stupid excuse, that's how combo decks work, and how decks work, you meld cards you like into a deck.
Besides, War Rocks were intentionally made simple, it's a reflection of the ol days of Yu-Gi-Oh, all battle phase and not main phase 20 negates "HA HA you can't Play the game" type of stuff.
As a diehard War Rock fan, I gotta say Meteoragon is my favorite. You'd be surprised how few people know how to deal with him. On another note, consider also Double Summon and Spirit Barrier for some extra utility. Double Summon will help with getting bodies on the field quickly, which War Rocks tend to struggle with, whereas Spirit Barrier has provided me with some interesting kamikaze strategies; if my opponent is playing too passively and just summons big beaters without attacking, Spirit Barrier keeps my life points safe so I can throw a Gactos or something into the enemy on a suicide mission to get the effect ball rolling.
Such a shame. They have such good art. I wish they would have been released 10 years ago
…..so here's the the thing with me, I only know War Rocks by name alone and nothing else. I didn't hear or listen to the gossip around it, so I know next to zip to this archetype. That being said I personally think that this isn't THEE worst archetype I've heard of (and the very detailed card combos shown in vid helped show the actual good potential this deck has) I'd say it's a very strategy focus mid deck that use CC to control the field on the opponents turn, and then goes into its battle oriented strengths on my turn while still using some CC effects to help my odds.
Actually this archetype reminds me of a table top strategy game mentality. Position your units in the right place and plan out your future moves, then study what your opponent does and use the resources you have to work around that and try to break down your opponents forces and leave them in a weaken state that you can control the game hence forth.
Yo, mate, remake the amazoness video and include the new support.
Did farfa sponsored this video to get his mountains to 40€?
"War rock is the worst deck ever made!"

In MD i fought against war rock once, and considering i use a pure cubic deck, i was probably one of the worst match up for them, and yet they hold out quite well if i’m being honest.
From what I remember of that duel, War Rocks is an archetype in which you are pretty much obligated to beat them at their own game and QUICKLY, since that in the long run you’ll end up facing a full board of monsters that can erase you from existence.
And after seeing this video, I’m pretty sure that the favorite strategy of this tribe is the WAR of attrition
My favorite decks to Unga with is warrock
At least good amout of waifus
Ngl I knew Nova was awesome because of Chaos Draft, but using the Xenoblade OST for this video made me subscribe. Supremely based.
"Worst deck ever made?"
Those who say War Rocks are the worst deck ever made clearly hasn't watched RANK10YGO's "Legacy of the Worthless"
I can fathom this deck being made in modern yugioh. every time I look at this deck, I look at them like cavemen
This really is one of those types, that needs a card that summons Monsters to the opponents field. Like…. War Rock Target Dummies.
I feel bad for fans of this deck. It's the most literal version of a caveman archetype. With effects and mechanics straight out of a set 12 years ago.
most definitely not the worst (remember the earth reptile "venom" archetype exists)
WAR ROCK!
They suck so much that itnis not even fair with bad decks to call WR unplayable.
Thanks for this video!!! Learned alot as a war rock player. this whole time, I was letting people ash my Fortia search smh😅
War rock kinda reminds me of subterrors
People don't actually hate War Rock, they're just salty they didn't pull Prosperity out of BLVO
If War Rock also include the Ancient Gear battle protection, they would be better.
Matched up with Amazoness it’s pretty decent I ran them on Master Duel and won quite a few matches
Despite all the ragtags its gotten from its debut till now, I still enjoy the archetype in Duel Links. Who needs combo and control when you can have good ol beatdown from alternate universe GX?
Grug grug. War rock good. Grug grug.
I DID NOT EVEN KNOW ABOUT THIS DECKS EXISTENCE
WHY DID I NOT? I LOVE IT
Came for the Unga bunga, stayed for the Xenoblade music
honestly its in the stone ages, i to this day only lost like 1 or 2 duels against war rock
War Rocks is one of my favorite decks to play. NO ONE knows how to deal with it because everyone thinks it sucks.
My favorite War Rock is Meteoragon.
They not good but they enough for me
ursatice is way worse war rock atalist can mix with goki
I feel like the pronunciation of “Mammud” was really obvious. How did you get it wrong?
do star warriors next please.
Honestly your vido gave motivation to go and make a War Rock deck on master duel! Found out later that for some reason MD doesn’t have Medium which is a damn shame.
This archetype really shows how Yu-Gi-Oh gotten so convoluted compared to way back then. Giving me a headache trying understand before/after damage calculation and damage step
PHILOSOPHICAL WAR ROCK:
Cogito unga, ergo bunga.
it's a real shame that war rock medium isnt in master duel at the moment
I've had people complaining about war rock medium lmao. Literally couldn't figure out how to play around it, calling it "unfun"
They need to add a quick play spell for yugioh that allows you to have 1 vs 1 battle at anytime. Including main phase. But.. I also feel like that would be OP. Especially if you were first.
Commented before watching the video. Will maybe edit later.
Says worst archetype. Video isn't about Ursarctic. I've seen a War Rock beat a Tearlaments deck during Tear's tier 0 status for fuck's sake.
And, yes, it was just War Rock, no additional engine.
My favorite tech with Medium is Parthian Shot.
Opponent can't activate monster effects in the main phase because of Medium, but can't activate them, so they rush through Main 1 and the BP to get to Main 2 and they get hit with that.
Wasn't aware of Terminal World. I like it more, as it's less likely to get shot by an opponent who fears set backrow.
On the note of Attack Gainer; while Naturia Beast isn't a Warrior, it is a nasty floodgate.
Guardians are the worst archetype ever printed
Also, your choice of music is top tier
3:39 No, Nova, this is not exponential scaling. A given number of n monsters applying a buff of 200 ATK (n-1) times to each other is only quadratic scaling.
9:15 Is Wento related to Winda in some way?
9:15 Wento also contests a three-material Apollousa.
Is it just me or does War Rock Meteoragon look kind of like Subterror Nemesis Warrior?
