  1. Don't think the pokedex roster was strong enough?? I'm sorry I cannot cosign this black/white 1 slander. They gave us a series reboot with so many cool new mons.

Also you get timburr, axew and ferroseed really early on. Only deinos evolution into hydreigon is the outlier. So if that's your faves there's no reason you wouldn't have them early on 🤷🏿‍♂️ God I also tired of the monkey slander too 😭 they're good mons! Especially for their time

  2. I disagree with a few of these, but almost all of it tends to be because I don’t use things like Battle Frontier really. I’ve always been into Pokemon more for the catching and the exploration content features. So games like ORAS and SV (maybe this goes to A until bugs are fixed) go to S tier for me. I also never finished BW or BW2 back in the day, so I’m hoping they get remade or ported so I don’t have to spend current market price to get them lol. Definitely a great list, though, and if I used the various Battle Frontiers, I would probably have a similar list.

  3. The level curve in Black & White's post is also pretty much horrible. One day you're fighting for the fate of the region against what's supposed to be the strongest trainer around, that easily defeated the Champion. Then you go to sleep and by the time you wake up everyone and their mothers have pokémon 10 levels strong than him.

You'll pretty much run out of things to do before your pokémon are at level decent enough to challenge the League ("for real this time, guys").

  4. I'm curious to know where you would rank Coromon, TemTem and the Nexomon games on this tier list especially compared to the Pokémon games. Might be spicy to some but still curious 🙂

  5. I like the list, but a couple changes I'd make would be putting xy and swsh underneath bdsp. I'm currently playing back through sp and despite the fact that it doesn't have any particular flare to it, the game still handles like a traditional, solid pokemon title, where xy and swsh were just bad. Their saving grace was leaning on a couple gimmicks, and had mega evolution and gigantamax not been a thing, both games would have been purely tragic. Also my opinion, obviously, but otherwise I like the list! Freaking loved platinum when I got my hands on it back in the day.

  6. Pretty good list, tho I do disagree with a few things. Notably HGSS being in S (It hardly fixed any of GSC's issues whatsoever (Why is Houndour still only in Kanto?). I'd put it in A or high B), BW in C/low B (I'd put it in high B at minimum), and SV in C (I genuinely would put Scarlet in A, I genuinely loved it. Violet would probably be thrown into B tho since Gen 9 feels like it was made with Scarlet only in mind. I also disagree with what you say about Team Star. I like their story and characters, and I like how they were basically scapegoated into the "Evil team" role (The fact that I was also bullied as a kid probably helped it to strike a chord with me). I do wish they included more elements from Legends tho).
I personally would put ORAS in S, but they're also just my personal favorite games in the series tied with Scarlet and the entirety of Gen 5, so… I do wish we had a proper Delta Emerald, but hey, that's what ROM hacks are for. Lol.
Also, I don't think OG RB should be that high. I'd put 'em in C at best, especially since FRLG exist. 😛
Also also, somewhat unrelated, but I wish we had a version of Gen 7 that combined the best of SM and USUM so there would be an actual definitive version of it. I'd play a fangame like that.
(Still need to play Let's Go tho. I genuinely do want to play it eventually. Lol)

  7. If it wasn’t for my love for this franchise, i’d probably agree a lot with this rank. But… D and E categories just climb to the meh category (C tier) in the same order as you’ve got them. Great way to give them context btw!! 🤩👌

  8. your missing some pokemon home points though the gts feature etc isnt even usable on the switch just the app same goes for mystery trade etc.

the only feature the switch evrsion of home has is moving pokemon around thats it

  9. Pokemon Violet and Scarlet would have been C tier for me on launch day but now it's almost April and the game still isnt fixed it's immediately an E tier. Broken game is a broken game, especially at $60.

  10. I almost agree with this tierlist but I would put platinum in C and sword and shield in B. Ppl love sinnoh but its easily my least favorite region… And colosseum and XD would have to go in Haven't Played category

  11. SV had the classes, gym leader rematches and repeatable content through Tera Raids which include the difficult Mighty Pokemon which are some of the most difficult battles in the franchise. Then you have a tolerable and rewarding shiny hunting system. PLA had some features that I wish SV had, but I think SV has far more features that I wish were in PLA than the other way around. PLA is still one of my favorites and that's only because of its style and scenery, not because it offered more than SV.

  12. I respect your list with the exception of where you placed Legends: Arceus. I kinda agree with your stance on it other than it being a good game as is though. Basically, I do want to see more Legends games, but they need a lot of improvements. I do agree that the IV system was better, but the game is incomplete and directly conflicted with existing Pokemon lore. Plus the arbitrary difficulty wasn't fun. It's clear that Gamefreak doesn't know how to make a challenging and fun experience. The gameplay loop wasn't enjoyable either although I liked having missions and exploration and crafting was fun. Overall though we agreed a lot more than I was expecting.

My personal list is definitely personalized and probably not at all close to how anyone else would rate them though. I added some spinoffs for fun.

  13. it's odd that pokemon's story has become more and more childish and bubbly while it's player base has gotten older and expanded to wider age ranges. The fact that gen 1 is still one of the darker stories and your rival is not your friend is crazy when that game was most certainly targeting a younger audience.

  14. I have after many recommendation about how great BW is finally played it a few weeks ago, and for me it is probably the worst pokemon game I have ever played. One thing needs to be noted: I have not finished it, I got up to the sixt badge (flying) before I had enough.

As you said the pokemon distribution is in my eyes the biggest problem that game has. Most of the new pokemon in the beginning are constantly repeating over and over again even up to the sixt badge without anything new showing up. Patrat, Lilipup, Purrloin, Blitzle and Pidove or their evolution over and over and over again. Especially Pidove and Patrat are bad in my eyes, one is one of the most disliked starter rodents to ever exist and the other is constantly hampered by its stats and attacks not matching up. Then we have the three element apes that collectively share the place for most disliked pokemon.

They tried with 3d grafic and man does that look bad. Accumula Town, the second town you visit is a good example for this. You can see they wanted to see what they can do with giving the areas a bit more of an 3 dimensional feel but it just looks annoying.

The Story: Maybe it gets better after the point I decided to stop. But oh man was the story bad. The little princlet that prances around telling everyone how much better it would be if everyone would just abandon their pokemon because everyone is just so mean to force them into these balls, who can supposedly even talk with and understand said pokemon and is even choosen by a legendary pokemon to be some kind of great hero. We have multiple sources that pokemon desire to have a trainer, that wild pokemon are even jealuos of captured pokemon and that their wish to encounter a worthy human is part of the reason why they even attack us (not the only one) when walking around their area and that should a pokemon not want to be with a trainer anymore they can just jump out of the pokeball and leave. And yet the guy who supposedly can talk to them has never heard of that.
