If NPC Digimon died then many of them wouldn't be able to perform their functions properly.
Also, what does the author mean "other characters can form bonds with more Digimon?"
None of the other humans get new partners. Ever.
I think it's a bit nitpicky but it ain't that bad of article stills
Thanks for mentioning me.
This is not surprising, Digimon games tend to get a ton of criticism that sometimes is unwarranted.
This article is made by someone that didnt play or care for the game because there is actualy explanations in game for many of this nitpicks, for example we dont need to care for ourselfs cause we are just data and data doesnt need to feed or sleep etc, they explain that but in a later stage of the game
the reason hostile digimon attacks you is because they are programmed to do so, like really, in the lore, it is said that they really enjoy battling an are basically made to do that, being strong is actually one of their main necessities in the VPET, this is just their nature. I think digimon acting weird in many ways makes the travelling to digimon world have more of a cultural shock, I really like the weird logic of a digimon overall
it is stated in the game that time in the digital world and in the real world is different, and also, because humans are digitized in the digital world, their bodies don't work like in the real world, and they don't get tired, different from the number 7, this on is literally one of the main point in the plot at some point
also, coerced to use good moves? coerced is a really strong word there, you are a tamer, and helping your partners by saying what they need to do, just like a coach in real life would do with a fighter in a ring, but in digimon it is in real time, and not between rounds, and of course, a video game, so they need to make it interesting in a way, so they add points so you can not spam things. the choince of the world coerced looks like you are forced your partners to do things that they don't want
also, you are literally building a city to deal with the crisis in the digital world, you don't tame all the digimons you see and form an army, but you totally get new comrades that will help you in many ways, that is also a main plot point…. There is this video game / shounen anime thing where in the end you are the only one strong enough to 1v1 the bad guy for reasons, and you don't gang up on him with all the super strong digimons in the city, but it is just a normal story telling thing.
Also, monster collection aspect in this game would not be fun, because it is not a monster collection game…
this article could be a funny "haha, video games are weird" but they make claims that is explained in the digimon lore, or worse, in the game…
but yeah, the point 10 would be actually kinda nice, if some digimons also got older and reborn as the times goes by
I feel like the pod is also a reference to V tamer the manga, Jijimon has similar pods at the hospital he runs in that manga and Taichi and Zero often use it to heal after hard battles
The part about you not having to take care of yourself is actually explaned a few times, it's stated that you and the other humans in the game don't get tired (At least phisically) or have other needs like hunger, presumably because you "bodies" are like data representations of it and not the real thing, or something along those lines. That actually becomes important foreshadowing of a certain plot point, but I will avoid the spoiler.
people who write things like this have no imagination or joy in them. The need to have everything "make sense" undercuts any sense of wonder, mystery or curiosity in any work of fiction whatever the medium. it's like when i would watch a movie with my dad, a movie with magic or crazy stunts, and he'd say stuff like "That isn't possible." or "that's such a lie". I find it an extremely tiresome take on any media. Boring.
Gee, it's so nice to see that the whole "WHY ISN'T THIS LIKE POKEMON!?1" mentallity from reviewers which plagued the original game is still alive and well.
My personal answer for the question was:
1. Why NPC digimon don't die was they actuality die in some game "mostly last boss or big tread" and my opinion the protagonist in digimon game will spare wild digimon if the just want to fight that why they run after you beat them in battle.
2. Why they pronounced machindramon wrong just assuming it's poor voice acting they uses. Not every japanise game have good eg voice acting especially a franchise with number one fan base who the game don't even have VA "cough cough pokemon".
3. Why the bed in training hall if you play previous digimon game you will know how painful back and forward to training and rest in the file city not only your digimon Easley tiered but also you need 2 loading screen if you want to rest a digimon.
4. Why do hostile digimon attack you. It's the same quetion why bullfango always attack you in monster hunter even though you don't hunt them. You need some beast asshole to annoying play who play a game especially digimon word not like peacfull world just thinking they battle you to become more strong.
5. Why you don't need to take care of yourself is something people don't play game just to looke how realistic or relate to there daily life they just play a game for escapism. If game have 100% realistic like your daily life why you need to play a game? Especially it can be annoying if you have responsibilities for your self and your digimon did you still want to play it?
6. Why do you need portable toilet? Actually you don't need to bring portable toilet in your adventure wht map have some toilet if you want to prioritize other item. And it's kind wierd to say but poop was essential to digimon mechanic to know you can take care your digimon.
7. Why the battle area really small eeeehh i don't think the size area matters if it's to big digimon with projectiles will have advantage and make boring gameplay other hand i think it's not to smal just you can freely control your digimon.
8. Why you the only one who can make digimon doing the special attack "good move" so for the lore actually digimon can do it themself but you don't want to see the AL span special attack in wrong time right especially we all know hoe stupid AI in ever JRPG game. With you control special attack you have sometime to do other than command your digimon.
9. Why transportation so poor yeah it just how the first digimon game travel time to time. You have auto pilot but you can't uses birdramon if you don't explore specific area. It just how the game work probably maybe if they add some portal or make more than one hub in another game sometime the hub and the zone really are to much if you walk alone especially if your digimon ned toilet or someting to eat.
10. Why you can't have new partner. Eeeeeh yoo so whay you call if digimon reincarnated and you have new baby is it not new partner??? And let's be clear here even if you can recruit digimon and become your partner you probably will never have a time to rise 3 or more of you digimon in the same time with that type of game. With 2 digimon you have so many problems in gameplay why you need more partner.
Yeah that maybe answer some questions of digimon world i just hope if they make the same type of game give more quality of life, make more polis "clean art style/ good story" and also the most important pliss don't add new gimmick feature again with two digimon was already so gimmicky don't add more gimmick like that.
Yoooo Ed. Review Cooblemon!
Only thing I agree with is that transportation could be improved. I definitely think they should let you ride your Digimon in the next World game, but they also need to balance it so you can't just storm through every map and completely neglect the in-game clock early on.
Killing off NPCs and making them inacessible for a perieod of time is a horrible idea though. It not only adds to the stress by now having to manage essentially every digimon in the city, but it's straight up a shot in the foot when you consider that one of the main points in the game is recruiting them to make your life easier.
The reason why only your digimon dies is because they're referencing the V-pet life cycle where which day counts as year. And that's what the game is meant to be, a V-pet based adventure. Digimon don't just die of old age all the time in any other piece of media and evolution takes actual years to happen for mons without partners. Most of them die without even evolving past the Adult level.
They did have sidequests in Decode where you helped the NPCs in town to evolve. It'd be nice if they brought those back.
the reason you don't need to take care of yourself is explained in the original digimon world 1
Canonically the NPCs do Digivolve; it just takes a looooonng time. The fact that your partners have a partner basically speed up their lives by a magnitude or two, and from the context of game design: doesn't make sense to implement it.
In the timescale of the game (even sped up 60x), you'd have to leave the game open for about a year realtime (60+ in-universe years) before something happens.
Very nitpicky article. Is this their first time playing a game?
Wild digimon wvolve naturaly yes but they live very long lives we talking hundreds of year life spans they dont die of old age unless they are a partner digimon , wild digimon constantly consume data which makes them evolve after hundreds or years as they build uo data while tamer digimon evolve using their human partner in some way
Digimon do Digivolve on their own while Digimon with a Tamer Digivolve faster due to their bond and how they absorb data from their partner.
Digimon fighting eachother is sometimes just the next stage of a conversation. If two Digimon can’t talk something out, they fight, and usually understand eachother better afterward.
But also some Digimon do eat eachother. Kuwagamon is a known predator that hunts smaller Digimon in more than one story, as an example.
You know, I actually like the idea of expendable doo-doo bags more than a portable potty. Using a portable toilet means that the only risk you have is forgetting to use it, but if you had to buy poo-poo bags, not only would that add to the in game economy, it would also force you to check your supply of bags before going on long treks, since running out of poo-poo bags could result in a bad evolution.
Dude the article is trash. The number one thing was so freaking stupid I almost stopped the video all together but its such Bull Sh*t. Like the Author should be embarrassed. But good job covering it and calling it out. Thanks Ed
Natural digivolution are quite different compared to accelerated digivolution via tamers digivice/vpet. For example natural digivolution lore wise can ended become different mon of same stage (Veggimon turn into red vegimon when ripe, Nanimon turn into bomber nanimon when exposed to many fight angemon become devimon when fallen/corrupted, angewomon into lady devimon whrn fallen/corrupted etc. The evolution into ultimate mostly took very long time with very few can even dream to reach mega.
When vpet and tamers are involved, they tend to age quickly cutting their natural lifespan. Not to mention jijimon are using unusual method to reincarnate MC digimon by injecting dead digimon data into existing digiegg for instant hatching.
As some other people pointed out, a lot of these critiques could also apply to the Pokemon games.
This article isn’t as bad as the ones you usually cover but the points are very nitpicky and I didn’t even play the game 😅
Remember it's a full price port of an old game
"Why can't you have more than the two digimon partners?"
…. Play a Story game then. They're different style of games with different gameplay mechanics. It's totally fine if World games aren't your style of game, but that doesn't make it bad. Just play the kind you like.
"There's no reason not to team up with as many monsters as possible to tackle the Machinedramon menace."
Damn I guess I have 0 citizens in my 170+ prosperity city, since according to this article I apparently can't team up with monsters to deal with the crisis. I mean shees, if only collecting Digimon to help me in town was a huge part of progressing through the story, that would be far more enjoyable and immersive.
The gamer has a history of making very… questionable articles, in general, and about digimon specifically.
"Why is there no poop on the ground from all the Wild Digimon?"
Unless you are a hopeless case in playing Digimon World, they surely should have seen at least one toilet while walking outside? Common Sense is really lost on those folks.
