  3. Does anyone know where these calls came from? I'm assuming the first one was the FS1 TV broadcast, and the third one was obviously the Japanese call. But where do the other two English calls come from?

  6. For those curious for translation of the Japanese broadcast:

    1:05
    Announcer 1: "Murakami, HE GOOOES!"
    Announcer 2: "It's going over!!"
    Announcer 3: "Yes! Yes! Yes!"

    A1: "That was Murakami! Murakamiiiiiii!" (TL: Murakami is the batter)
    A2: "It's a walk-off It's a walk-off"
    A3: "(The fielder) can't make the play!"

    A1: "Ohtani is making it home! And here comes… Shutooo!!" (TL: Ohtani is the lead runner and Shuto is the pinch-runner behind Ohtani)
    A2: (Can't make out what he's saying… maybe "Neraeru" meaning "He's can make it" or something?)

  14. To my American Friends in the comments. A "sayonara win" is a term in Japanese baseball for when the game ends immediately off of a hit. That's why they're saying goodbye to three Mexican team, not out of disrespect.

  18. The secret of Japanese baseball education lies in the "Koshien" system,

    a biannual tournament involving the entire nation, in which all 47 prefectures of Japan compete against each other in a national high school baseball tournament.

    All players are required to go to this tournament to learn basic baseball training and tactics, and to experience the big stage of a sudden-death tournament,

    which is a grueling training experience for character development, mental strength, technique, and physical ability in their teenage years.

    This system is unique in Japan.

    This is what produced Otani and Ichiro. USA does not recognize the "Koshien" system.

  49. どちらが勝ってもおかしくなかった。最後の瞬間ももちろんだが、山川が犠牲フライで一点差に迫っている状況がなければまた分からなかったかもしれない。村上が不調だからと代打を立てていれば打てなかったかもしれない。ひとつでも欠けていては起こらない奇跡の瞬間であり、この勝利が優勝という最高の結果に繋がった。
