  1. There are a few places around that have the arcade/food you're thinking of, generally referred to as Barcades. They are hard to find but they are so, so, SO fun as long as you don't end up with a crowd of drunkies hanging out.

  2. yea i heavily disagree on the gungeon being too hard to be fun, but well i know the wanderbot preference have gone more and more toward effortless games along the years, nothing bad about that but that don't mean hard games are not fun, and the fact wander says you basically need to be overpowered to have fun kind of irk me a bit.

  3. To throw my two cents on the whole difficulty abd "gut gud" thing that you were talking about. keep in mind that I have a very game design "I really enjoy niche as hell i die gane mindset"
I do think that, as a baseline, games should have a way of adapting the difficulty for those who need it. However there is absolutely a bit of a gray point In terms of player responsibility that I don't have time to get into. I will say However that there is absolutely merit in Designing difficulty in the same vein as Celeste and Sone Fromsoft games. Where the game is hard absolutely, but it still wants you to succeed and is instead using its difficulty as part of its experience

  4. We have that concept of your archade in the UK. It is £15 for 3 hours and all machines are unlocked and can be played. Loads of retro to bit more moddern games. Only issue is the old game machines break easily, and they are very hard to fix, as the parts needed for some of them just dont exist unless you find other versions of the machine with a different fault. Was fun, but after going once, kind of burnt out of it.

  5. I went to an arcade recently with a couple of friends, and we just paid a bit to get unlimited tokens, just as you mentioned.
The games they had available were all kinda crap, though. Mostly bad rip-offs of mobile games with slightly more interesting input methods than a touch screen. There were also a couple other cheap knockouts of other more classic arcade games. It was mostly just fun because of the friends, not the games.. If games of this quality had been there, I think I'd be much more included to return someday, cause I definitely like the concept you're describing!

  6. There's an arcade bar called level something in Orlando Florida that is unlimited arcade, consoles, guitar hero etc. You just pay 5$ to get in and drink and game. It's pretty rad.

  7. Assault Android Cactus! I've wanted you to play this since it came out on the Switch. I hope you play more of it, because the later levels get crazy as do the last two characters. If nothing else, you need to get the game over screen at least once. For some reason it has an amazing song.

Also, Starch has the best dialogue with the bosses.

  8. As someone who's just gotten into Souls games, I've had an infinitely easier time with their difficulty than I did Gungeon. In Gungeon, luck plays a big role, and you leverage your skill to use that luck. In souls games, luck won't carry you, but it can be the thing that helps you overcome a difficulty
Souls games also let you grind levels and consumables, and summon help

  10. Some random things
    – Shutdown actually increases damage taken by all stunned robots. It also gives some seconds of invincibility and heals.
    – I think I saw you actually using dodge during Vespula fight? Many people don't realize at first that weapon switch doubles as a dodge.
    – Speaking of Vespula, phases 1, 3, 5 has her invulnerable – only killing wasps she summons depletes her HP.
    – Being knocked down doesn't make you lose, but it does make you waste some seconds on getting up as well as resets your weapon level. Also obviously you must have zero deaths to qualify for S.
    – Different weapons may be better at different levels. Ofc if you have a preference, you can use desired android at all stages, but sometimes it works better or worse. Game was balanced around Cactus, I guess.
