A couple of days after the announcement from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle that their children Archie and Lilibet would be known as prince and princess, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Edward would be promoted to the Duke of Edinburgh. The King ‘didn’t intend’ to give the title to his brother as part of his wider plans to ‘slim down the monarchy’, Eden tells our royal talkshow Palace Confidential. ‘But then, when Harry and Meghan started using the Prince and Princess titles for their children, it became clear this wasn’t going to happen and then King Charles could hardly justify not giving Prince Edward the title he’d been promised by their parents,’ he says. ‘It was a big deal and I really think that was behind it.’

The Monarcy needs to provide a list of approved career paths for non working Royals receiving an allowance. Some examples would be teaching, conservation, art, diplomacy and the military. Maybe not acting, newscaster, marketing and social media. Some Royals have such poor judgement. Abuse of title should result in title being held by the Monarchy until a person regains their senses.

Wasn't it the Glousters who moved out for H&M? I also like the Earl and Countess of Wessex titles for Edward and Sophie! They were unique titles, the Duke of Edinburgh titles are so very much associated with Philip….
The Duke of Kent & Gloucester were very hard working royals in their day, their siblings have no working role within the royal family so I would just let their parents titles revert back to the crown.

Prince Philip wanted Charles to make Edward the Duke of Edinburgh when he became King, and both Edward and Sophie have been very loyal to the Queen and country and worked very hard without complaining and drama or putting demands on the Queen or Charles, unlike some greedy ex- royals I could name. They and their children are well deserved of these titles and the people would love to have them hold these titles, we hope Charles grants Prince Philips wishes.

The Coronation should NOT be happening. After Charles' and Camilla's disgraceful conduct against Harry's and William's mother, they have absolutely proved that neither of them are fit persons to be the Head of State of the United Kingdom. I think that if this farce goes ahead, the monarchy is FINISHED.
