great podcast anybody watch the show when it drops on hbo max like i do instead of the hbo channel?
I don't have an YouTube subscription and THANK YOU HBO! for not interrupting the podcast (with ads) while I'm listening to it ♥
An absolutely amazing game and the TV series so far is doing an excellent job, my only criticism is Ellie's being played a bit too belligerent and cocky. In the game she kicks out ,but there's a vulnerable side to her as well as a warm, playful side. That side of her eventually affects Joel and the need to protect her kicks in.
But I have to say everything else is bang on. The post apocalyptic scenery is jaw dropping and the decision to make it more character and story driven is absolutely the right way to go. The additions to the story are really working well.
When they made the game I'm not even sure that the developers even knew how special a game they'd created and how it emotionally affected many of the gamers who played it. I guess I'm from a generation who played the first computer games in the 70's…From the basic table tennis on your telly, through to Space Invaders in '78, Resident Evil, Sonic, Halo etc etc. I've loved many of those games, but non of them quite affected me emotionally and got me involved more than TLOU….and that's down to everyone involved in putting that game together. The story and the way it was written and acted by those involved constantly drew you in as you got more and more involved emotionally as the game went on. The graphics team enhanced that and the music fitted really well.Like the Breaking Bad series everything just worked wonderfully together.
I do find it incredible that since then (2013) there have been few and far games that have managed to bottle that magic dust.
It's why I get that many of those gamers saw that bottle of magic dust smashed on the floor in the early part of TLOU2.
It's truly a special game and it's great to see HBO ,Neil and everyone involved doing it justice.
"Little bits of breadcrumbs will be planted" lol.
Interesting change in scientist knowledge in how Cordyceps controls insects…. It actually doesn’t invade the brain at all. In fact it’s much more horrifying than that. The fungus actually spread throughout the body and directly controls the muscles of the insect making them literally a prisoner in the own body…. Aware(as aware as an ant/spider can be) but unable to maintain control of their body and what its doing. Can you imagine?
@ 39 minute mark I think an argument could be made that Ellie has grown up without a father figure and, Fedra took that role until she met Joel.
I love HBO Podcasts.
just came across this podcast, very interesting!
How tf did you see Bloodborne on a list of games to make a show out of and say “yeah no” Do you.. let me rephrase this, DO YOU KNOW HOW HUGE A BLOODBORNE MOVIE WOULD POP OFF?
Is there a visual of them?
LITERAL BREAD CRUMBS
15:48 "breadcrumbs" we see what you did there
6:47 what a life! Being able to just have your next interest funded and backed by your employer. Like, "I think I want to make this." And they hand you the money and resources to execute your creative aspirations.
Any spoilers here from future episodes or the games?
23:00 "The whole of The Last of Us is about Joel and Ellie."
Along the lines, someone important certainly forgot that, I guess..
You have a podcast for one of the most popular shows and it's audio only? C'mon lol
That scene with the dead child and Joel putting it in the fire is heartbreaking!
This show is a great example of how to do a game adaption. Well done.
my fav parts
26:40 (tess and joel's dynamic)
28:25
34:40 (ellie and joel's conversation)
36:00 to 40:00 (proper use of flashback, pedro's acting, last scene)
40:30 (use of the depreche mode's "Never let me down again" and its connection to joel and ellie)
So the show did not change Henry and sams race, but changed even bigger characters race like Maria, Tommy and Joel? Look at other recent tv series/movies who flopped badly like Rings of power, Witcher and The last Jedi etc.
"Little bits of breadcrumbs have been planted"
Yeah they have
So the actress who played DInah kinda started all of this.
❤❤❤❤❤ Craig using Bella's correct pronouns
I just wish Craig would be the one who got to do The Witcher series. That would be dream come true. Instead netflix ruined completely such a great IP. Well at least there's Last of Us.
The "Yes" from Troy at 22:20 totally caught me off guard 😂😂
Awesome
I like this ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
With the way they were killing the infected civilians, they would have never found a cure becuase lets say they found ellie…. she would show up red on the device then be killed, with them never knowing she was immune. If there are others that are immune, they will never know.
