Keith, I'm a vendor at Rough and Tumble flea market, and have come to appreciate their presence in the community. One of my best selling items is machinable plastics, which I have no competition in. Machinists from the historical society were my best buyer, but others in the community have made use in different applications. Some Amish machinists buy from me as well.

Keith, those collets might fit cnc routers. I had bought some used at a scrap yard, and should have bought the associated motors, as they were only $3,500 each, and there were several. The collets themselves wouldn't sell, but with the motors, I believe would have sold as a set to people looking to make cnc wood working equipment.
Keith, I briefly met you at Florida Flywheelers meet and greet. You gave me some invaluable advice (on lathe tooling) THANK YOU SO MUCH for your time.

I think those collets may also fit South Bend milling machines. I believe they are called ZZ size collets. Like Mr. Petes! Great work as always Keith.
I used the long feeler gauges at 3:00 for setting the roll gaps on steel rolling mill stands.
I believe that the mystery collars are Z. style for a Tree mill. If you are I'm trying to find a home for them I think I can help you out.
Rough and Tumble engineering can be found at the Internet Archive. Hate to see a book disassembled for scanning when one can be found elsewhere.
Keith those collets look identical in size and scale to ones used in a Tree 2uvr Knee mill. Tree was the major competitor to Bridgeport through the 60s and 70s. They are very difficult to find for guys that are still running Tree mills.
Those Fenner Drive devices might be chain or belt tensioners.

Collets look like Universal Engineering Double Taper Collets. They had a bunch of sizes.

I have a BIG supply of Craftsman tools…Full mechanics set, screw drivers, open end, box end, offset, pliers, wire cutters, and more. Mind date from the 60's ~ 80's. All great tools. Best? HECK NO…but for somebody like me they are wonderful…and unlike the snap-on guys, mine are paid for. LOL…Heck, I know Snap-On guys that won't pay their stuff off, nor will their great grand kids at the cost of some of that stuff…LOL.
A friend of mine was a regular at the annual Rough and Tumble shows at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. They had more traction engines than you can believe!

Today's craftsman tools aren't up to the same quality that they were back in the 80's and 90's. Really hate to call them junk but, it is what it is.
Heck of load of awesome tools. Always been fascinated with machining just never went into the field of doing of it. Great video as always, cheers 🙂

I'm glad you found the mic head. I didn't realize you were looking for one. I use my Lufkin 681 set up to 120 inches (a couple 20 inch and a 40 inch extra extentionas for this) still, several times a year, and keep it in QA, but haven't needed longer for many years. My B&S set has been sitting on a shelf for maybe 15 years.
I have too much stuff…
I've got no complaints about Craftsman tools, hand or power.
Those collets kinda look like Gorton milling machine collets.

@17:39 Wish you would've shown us an actual closeup of what was in the Frenner Drives box so we could see them, you weren't even in frame. 🤦
If they're a Frenner Drives product then they have something to do with Belt & Chain drive systems, they could be tensioners or mounting system for pulleys but as I couldn't see them that's all the info I can give you.

Those misc drill collet and cap are double angle collet. Or z or zz collet. We use them in screw machines alot.
Hi Keith, If those end bars are pre 1959, you must remember that the US inch became a tad shorter after that year. It became exactly equal to 25.4mm.

The 'micrometer in a suitcase', what do you plan to use it for and how is it calibrated?. I have acquired one of these though smaller, the box is about half the size, though it does have a dial indicator as an inherent part of it. Anyone from the uk interested in buying it, put in a response.
