Not only a good lecture on beauty but, fittingly, a beautiful lecture too. The way Bp. Barron connected Plato and the open sea of beauty to Dante and the reflections upon the Rose window… wow.
Those that believe in resurrections, demons, devils and eternal torture are terrifying. Their opinions and delusions being forced upon society like we have seen with the Trump-Republican-Jesus Taliban is a horror. The only intrensic freedom human beings have is bodily autonomy. Their fear mongering is laughable…priests and preachers have always been a far greater danger to children than drag queens. 15 states are currently racing to force raped women and children to give birth without exception for rape or incest! From climate change, to common sense gun laws, to allowing billionaires to dictate our lives and freedoms, to worshipping lying traitorous whoremongers…they will always be on the wrong side of anything that is good. Please pray for the torment, suffering, poverty, and abandonment that is coming for all women in America forced to give birth.

Christ gave us pure truth and pure beauty. Our traditions and great cathedrals have so much emotionally moving beauty. How sad that the years following Vatican ll the modernists insisted upon striping our sanctuaries of the beauty of our traditions. The parish to which I belong has a sanctuary built with the “ simplicity” motifs. We have a gorgeous crucifix upon the alter but no other obvious ornamentation. Our new pastor took the beauty of the simplicity and added two statues—one on each side of Our Blessed Lady and St. Joseph. What a difference it made. Over and over I hear people say “now I feel as though I am in a Catholic Church”. There is a sense of increased reverence . Bishop Barren so aptly relayed how God’s beauty can and does effect our souls. I hope that more pastors will embrace the traditional and the sacred when determining the architecture of religious buildings.

I wanted to share a line that was especially marked in my French Literature book when reading an excerpt of Paul Claudel's "Mort du Judas":

Hear me when I say, ye that are Catholic have been deceived and know not God. Ye worship Mary, praying to her; when God tells his to worship none other than him. It is idolatry.
Catholicism has its own Bible and teachings, which are blasphemous to the word of God: the Holy Bible. As ye follow the teachings of man and not God; ye hear the pope, but not Jesus, yet ye claim to be his disciples!
These are but a few things I named ye dwell within; there are many more. I tell you now to repent of your sins, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you'll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit upon asking the Father!
There are NO sub-divisions of Christianity. You're either a disciple of Christ or not. A Christian is someone who follows God's word, not a religion. Who obey the Father and follow his will; not man's nor their own heart's. Unless you keep Jesus' commandments, think not the Holy Spirit will dwell within you!
They who heed this message and did what was stated with an open heart to God…

thank you for teaching this, Your Grace. I teach karate myself, and I often find it very hard to get younger students invested in the more regimental drills. perhaps I need to show them more of the beauty of the art first!
There I was, in my childhood days, attending a catholic school, called Blessed Trinity. Across the street there was the Blessed Trinity church. As part of religion class, we were taken across the street to attend church several times per month. We were forced to go to confession, but I had nothing to confess. So I went to the end of the line since there was only time for half the class to go to confession. The Catholic teachers caught on to my actions, and demanded that I go to confession, because as far as they were concerned, we are ALL sinners. Despite just being a young child, I was totally stunned by this demand. On top of that, they told us to be truthful and sinless while within the confessional booth speaking to a priest. Now I was now completely double shocked. They demanded that we little children be sinners out there in the world, but only be sinless while within a tiny confessional booth. Then they told us to say, " Bless me Father, for I have sinned.". Now I was triple shocked, since the opposite of the statement is, "Condemn me father, for I have not sinned.". It was later on that I now realized why the Catholic priests were dressed in an evil black. They wanted the innocent Christ fellow to pay for the sins of all, such that sinners could be sinners forever, forever taking advantage of the truly sinless.

Edit: Praise God for John of Damascus! My daughter has significant autism and has a communication disorder. She’s learning about Jesus through the beautiful traditional Catholic Church we attend. The bright stained glass windows duplicating the saints, the organ music (we always sit right next to the organist) the beautiful artworks all around are teaching her about our faith where words cannot as yet. She loves going to church and draws pictures of it at home. Mother Church is a genius teacher.

Thank you for your talk. Lovely to hear and see those photos. Such a huge subject. Amazing to think about the human genius that created the sacred geometry of that Rose Window! My 'Rose window' is the altar of St.Thomas Church in N.Y.C. I love the empty cross that symbolizes the Risen Christ. I found this gem quite by chance. Circa l985 while walking home after work a sudden rain storm started and, soaking wet, I entered this Church to dry off. (I had passed this church hundreds of times in the past but never went in). I sat in the pew at the back and a tear rolled down my cheek. I was in a cocoon of beauty. The church's Gothic architecture is exquisite.. BUT, not only that….. it smelled like a Church! The residual scent of incense, the wax of burning candles and the scent of sandalwood polish on the woodwork of the pews. My senses were filled. A choir of men and boys was rehearsing for the upcoming Sunday Mass. Well, that did it. Equal to that of King's College and that is no exaggeration. Subsequently, I attached myself to this place and it's people for quite a few years. I now live on the opposite side of the planet but I think I left a part of my soul in that holy place. What a gift! And, oh, the good news is I hear that St. Thomas Church still continues in their sacred tradition of beauty.
Is it okay to be attracted to Catholicism because of the feminine divinity of it, with regards to The Virgin Mary?

Can it also be said that, evangelizing in Catholicism does not necessarily require words if "the word" manifest itself epiphanicly?
Pope Francis…known for beautiful gestures? On what planet? He hates the beautiful, hates tradition. He needs our prayers because he doesn't even support evangelism. He persecuted his own people. Calls for African Cardinals to convert for protecting tradition. He needs our prayers for his conversion back to the true teachings of the church. He constantly contradicts the popes of the past with his worldly views. Blessed Mother, touch his heart and bring him back to your Son.

Once I was a believer, I believed in forgiveness, I was ruled by hope and I wanted a better life for myself. Do not think that I wanted huge wealth or unlimited power. I dreamed of starting a family, a decent home and a good, favorable and honest life. But once I lost faith, when a very painful blow came into my life from a person who was close to me, I eventually forgave her and let go, but my faith is dead. No matter how hard I try, after what I've experienced, I can't believe.

I live in a Muslim country and while the people here have a "Catholic heart" they don't have beauty in their faith or practice. The way of the little flower doesn't exist for them.
If you ever get to Spain, go to city and cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, the traditional burial place of saint James (Santiago) and have a look at the restored beauty of the sanctuary.
You will never forget it.
As a protestant child of about 12 years old, and on my way to a municipal swimming pool with a few school friends and passing the Cathedral, I one day decided to leave my bicycle on the many steps outside and quickly enter the Cathedral, and I can never tell you what happened to me on entering…. there was the beauty of the statues, the Stations of the Cross, but most of all, there was a presence, an awesomeness, a holiness, there was a loving welcome… a place you want to be… I took everything in in an instant because I had to rush off … but I returned a few times….
It stayed with me and only after many years, living life's lessons in marriage, childbirth, divorce etc, I met someone who was a Catholic ! Needless to say, I converted, now more than 30 years back and I thank God still today for bringing me to this beautiful, rich, warm and loving Truth…. I LOVE THIS CHURCH and I pray that it will always stay as Jesus instituted it… Mary our Mother, please intercede and pray for our Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church… Jesus, I trust in You.

The sanctuary [tabernacle] was a pattern of types and shadows of the heavenly temple, and Jesus Christ is the substance of those types and shadows.
He is the door to the sanctuary; Jesus is the door to the Kingdom of heaven.
He is the inner court surrounded by white linen; which is symbolic of being covered Christ prefect righteousness.
He is our passover sacrificed for us on burnt alter for sacrifice.
He is the laver for washing; symbolic of the rebirth, being born again of the Spirit.
He is the table of Showbread; the two stacks of loves of bread are symbolic of the word of God (the bread of life) in two testaments / witnesses, also the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve Apostles.
He is the Lampstand; the oil being symbolic of his Spirit; the Lampstand symbolic of his light unto the world.
He is our Altar of incense; making intercession for his saints.
He is our Mercy seat covering the Ark of the covenant; Jesus is both our advocate standing for his saints with the Father and He is our judge in judment.
Jesus Christ caused the sacrifices and their oblations to cease, (Dan 9:27) by his one perfect sacrifice.
In contrast to the time of the Gentiles, wherefore the sanctuary of God is trodden under foot for forty and two months.
How so?
This church who calls herself the mother church, claims to be the door to salvation.
And the white linen surrounding the inner court is the righteousness of Mary and the saints of the Roman church.
She claims that Christ sacrifice and Atonement for sin was not sufficient, for she instituted seven (works) sacraments.
She through infant baptism makes a mockery of the rebirth of the new man.
Her Catechism thinks to replace the inspired word of God.
Her prayers to dead saints and to Mary, thinks to replace Christ work of intercession at the altar of incense.
Hers is a false spirit which thinks to cover the light of truth.
This beast and her king think to change times and laws of God.
And goeth into perdition.
Is to be a Saint to accept universal truth?
Amen your Excellency great talk and reflection praying for your ministry and word on fire staff
