NASA just revealed SpaceX orbital launch date in calendar

SpaceX has completed the first full static ignition test of the monster Super Heavy last week. According to Elon Musk’s statement, they plan to conduct the first orbital test flight next month, but he also emphasized that the launch “cannot be said to be a success, it can only be guaranteed to be absolutely exciting.”
While the company has yet to release details of the test flight, one possible launch date — March 11 — has popped up on NASA’s launch calendar. This could mean that SpaceX has notified NASA of preliminary launch data, or it could just be a placeholder.
Let’s explain all this and more in today’s episode of Great SpaceX!
SpaceX’s highly anticipated Starship orbital flight test just got tentative launch data courtesy of NASA’s WB-57 plane.
NASA’s WB-57 is a vital agency asset that has made several appearances on its space live streams. The aircraft regularly tracks high-flying objects and is the first to get visuals of crewed spacecraft returning from the ISS. During atmospheric reentry, a spaceship encounters high temperatures, which leads to a communications blackout for a short duration. During the mission, this period is often one of the more stressful ones, as ground control teams cannot contact the astronauts to check up on their well-being. However, sometimes even before the communication link is established, the WB-57 provides important visual confirmation of reentry to the teams.
NASA also uses the aircraft to gain visual information about test launches, and now, the space agency has reserved a time slot for aircraft to cover the Starship orbital flight test. Its calendar marks March 11 as ‘SpaceX Starship Launch (placeholder),’ providing a tentative launch date for the rocket and indicating the assignment’s arbitrary nature.

  1. NASA is another bloated, pork driven, wasteful, uncaring, incompetent Federal Agency… who has wasted 50 years & $600 billion since Apollo on one dead end, unsustainable, unaffordable manned space boondoggle after another. NASA needs SpaceX to actually get anything done while NASA’s dead wood centers & HQ empty suits continue to twiddle their thumbs & slurp 3 martini lunches. To hell with NASA, go SpaceX. We should downsize/eliminate NASA & fund innovative, spirited, efficient private enterprises like SpaceX through NSF grants.. we’d get 10 times more affordable space done for 1/10 the taxpayer money.

  2. @2:40 it's not "fiction" that is responsible for the reentry heating, that is a common misconception.
It's actually the compression of the boundary layer of air.

If reentering spacecraft were concerned mostly about friction then they would not use a blunt surface and instead use a pointed one.

  3. I love Musk and believe he would save the free world if Biden was a lot more kissy, kissy with Musk, instead of putting road blocks up every ware to purposely slow down SPACEX from blowing NASA out of the water again. What ever happened to the PERMINENT MOON BASE, NASA?

  4. Hey Kevin, I wonder if, like a submaine's towed array whether an external aerial connected to the returning space craft by a titanium tow cable would allow communication to be maintained during re- entry?

  5. The NASA WB-57 is a highly modified BRITISH bomber – the English Electric Canberra. This was adopted by the USAF and manufactured under licence by Martin Aircraft as the B-57, and was used in wars like Vietnam especially in RB-57 reconnaissance aircraft version. The Canberra's chief claim to fame was an extremely high altitude ceiling, way ahead of any other aircraft until the U-2. The Canberra first flew in 1949, and some 400 examples of the Martin B-57 were built in the US. So NASA is still using an (admittedly highly modified) 74-year old aircraft design.

  6. Trying to figure out why NASA went from being self -sustainable to depending on 3rd parties operators to get their payloads to LEO. Maybe they couldn't do it themselves , didn't want to do it or …. it was simpler to sit on a box of cash and dispurse it to the worthy… or none of the above Hey just came up with the answer – NASA has went to a military mode of doing business.

  7. Two fingers donated for the successful launch …./🤩✌ Best check fastwalkers as well this time …a big area to cover up thru the sky …Remember 'Facebook's launch …3 to 4 orb passes before the crunch, first fence level low L-R, midway (4X cross members right tower height) R-L and high tower top R- L, with all high speed passes within 5 sec's, What the Heck! That rocket got smacked. Maybe something the orbs know that we don't? Social planning from the out and about…? Whazzah from Canaba hunting balloons in the subzera, we got mostly friendly saskquatch and space buddy's here.

  8. Your thoughts on the current controlled extraterrestrial reality disclosure process and related US GOV cover-up? When the contagious giggling subsides, how will our civilization adapt to this publicly known reality?

What might be some of the potential implications of disclosure of this reality? New energy sources perhaps? Religions? History?

Do we really want to know the full truth?
