Congo: Jungle Fever | Deadliest Journeys

00:00 In South Kivu in Congo, the city of Shabunda is one of the most isolated in the country. Its access is so difficult that life is more expensive there than in any European city. Thus, the poorest families come to look for food there by bicycle or motorbike. These convicts of the road sometimes transport up to 250 kilos of goods for several days, without worrying about the dangers. Without ever giving up, these travelers are almost all considered heroes because “he who does not travel does not know the value of men”, according to the Congolese.
6:09 Long day awaits the driver
11:57 Stairways to hell
22:37 Abandon the truck !
35:25 Gold Rush causes illnesses
43:57 The curse of the road continues

  1. Que coraje como los gobiernos de ese pais no hacen ni madres para mejorar la vias y conexiones entre pueblos, no se dan cuenta cuanto problemas podrian solucionar al mejorar esto. Pero la sed de quedarse con todo el dinero los ciega

  2. Why don't they, from the villages, with the use of vehicles, move rock onto the road, moving out in both directions, and pack the shit out of it? It may be slow going but at least they will have a foot of rock as a base. Once the base is laid, they can then add more rock and then asphalt. They can solicit local refineries to donate or sell for a cheap price, the junk they can't sell and would otherwise just get dumped (asphalt). Villagers from connecting locations could each pay a small amount as a toll for the road, small road companies to participate and maintain the roads. Ramp up a campaign that, every traveler is to bring a bag of rocks and deposit it to a location if they cannot pay a toll.

  3. The motorcycles on that 'mud bog' are the worst possible choices!
( I understand they must 'make do' with what's available for sale or perhaps rent or inherit but still those machines are completely wrong for that environment )
