Half of these are not racist:
-Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs: The narrative was to provide the Queen a motive to kill Snow White. Her ambition was to remain beautiful irrespective of how old she got and therefore she'd kill anyone, POC or not, based off that qualifier.
-Thumbelina: While voiced by a Hispanic woman and drawn to represent a Latina, the writers did not rely upon negative generalizations upon which to portray the role
-The Little Mermaid: I took this to mean they were celebrating Afro centric culture and music, therefore it's understandable there'd be a fish who looks unique in his/her own right and not an obviously mocking caracature. Overall it's a gorgeous song with a rousing animated display.
-The Lion Kings: All three hyenas were barnished due to disrupting social harmony, not based off their background. The fact they were voiced by POC is irrelevant, plus the comedic gags were a play on a characteristic befitting hyenas (i.e. laughter)
-Sing: The gorillas are part of the overarching narrative as opposed to being sidelined characters dominating portions solely based amidst the penal arena.
WatchMojo:Look at us, we're making a video of racism. Were the good guys please watch our ads
I hate when stupid people make everything racist when it clearly was never meant that way
I think people have to much time. If you sit down and watch movies an TV shows you can make anything racist
A lot of the comments below echo my thoughts, so I don't have to repeat them. As a child, the only scenes that I associated the characters with race were the crows and the stupid song from Peter Pan, which I considered racist even when I was a naive, young kid.
But, damn, the dance by Tiger Lily is phrikkin' awesome! I actually liked the character altogether.
TL::DR Everything is racist when you think about it hard enough. And the one about the gorillas is just fucking bullshit and you should be ashamed of yourself for making the link. Honestly it sounds like you're the one noticing harder than anyone, which says a lot about you.
might as well just stop entertainment as a whole then. its always going to be unethical or racist to someone. its never going to change
Not one of your better lists, WM 😒
I'm not Surprised of Watching Racism on Disney's Movie, Walt Disney was one of people most racist in Hollywood.
The Gorilla comparison reminds me of the Orc comparison people made a couple years ago, which is also racist and stupid.
People who have any brain cells, don't look at Gorillas or Orcs and think "black people".
Who ever wrote, green light, and read this list and script. Please seek professional help.
The way to stop Racism is to stop talking about it and breaking everything down as racists. These movies are made for kids and the only way kids learn about racism is because this kind of HATE is taught to them. How about teaching kids to love and respect each other no matter their race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion.
You guys reeeeeeaaaaallyy tried to reach with this one…
What a stupid f*cking list.
I love how the comments are condemning this video
No. No! NO! These are all accusations of white people, who has nothing to do with it at all, but they are just want to flame about it anyway. British Gorillas in prison is racist? So lets say now, Black people cannot put into prison if needed to? (once again: if needed to. I know a white person already got a stroke just reading this, but believe it or not, black people are people too, and with that, they can be evil or bad as well.) Regarding the hyenas: CALM DOWN PEOPLE, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT ANIMALS ONCE AGAIN! The frogs the same. How the hell is it implying, that every Latina people are criminals? This is 4 frogs. So be it, 4 LTAINA frogs. Again, I cant hear anyone complaining, that most villains are British. Isn't that imply that all British people are evil? So from now on, just so every race, ethnic and nation can feel safe, there will be no villains in stories. Typically those people got offended, who has nothing to do with it. Overly sensitive, humorless white people just wants to be Karen and vent on small jokes and every little crap. No other race ever found any problem with these. Non-native Americans have too much time on their hands. Then, the Native Americans: Do you realize, that this is a children story, including a ticking crocodile, a bunch of boys in animal costumes and a glowing faerie? Do you think these people has anything to do with reality? Not to mention, this is obviously a fun song. I do not think one native american ever got offended by it… Only white karens. Can't believe I actually have to tell this… Racism has to sides: hateing them just because they are not like you, and glorifying them just because they are not like you. And Hollywood started to do the other. High authorities are now mostly black, like sheriff, major, school principal (except if they'll turn out to be bad). And it would not be a problem, if it were not push until boredom. Or, when the colored actor/actress playing a creature, that completely mask off their skin: Orc leaders in hobbit for example… Cant we just all be people, not black, white, green or whatever, just simple, plain people? So we can accept that we are all capable of sin, repent and redeem. Regardless of color. And a last word, just so these oversensitive, humorless Karens can really die in horror: stereotypes are based on reality. They are stereotypes, because they are not THE reality, and they are stereotypes, because they are NOT fiction either. Like it, or not
Every Disney Movies 🎥 I Watch. When I Was A Kid Years Ago, I Didn’t Realize It. Because I Didn’t Know How Racism Work? It One Of The Lesson Parents Must Teach They’re Kid Not To Be Racism, So Hopefully Their Kids Won’t Be Racist. "Fantasia" In The Disney + Did Remove The Dark Female Centaur.
TIL you can be racist towards gorillas.
Glad to see they are making lists for the snowflakes that can't handle truths and old history.
The black centaur, I'll give you that.
But all the characters in lion king are technically African. So they are all "BLACK" good and bad
Ok fantasia and aristocats…yeah I was four when I saw each of these and those images did not sit right with me. Lol damn Disney 😂
Oof some of these are a stretch.. the gorillas are voiced by white actors, have a British accent and you know are anthropomorphic GORILLAS but yeah must be a purposefully take on black people. -_-
Eeeeeverythings gotta be about race nowadays for clicks and attention…
Come on now. Reaching on most of these.
As a black man I say people who get offended by old “racist” moments in film, tv, or books should get over it. Things we’re way different back then and we have time now to make up for the old times. If you can’t take it then stop being a snowflake and shush.
Racists of today can go screw themselves but this is how it was back then
Man y'all just trying to claim racism in damn near everything these days. 😂 Now were there actual moments in this video? Absolutely but some were a massive stretch
You forgot the black people at the beginning of dumbo
Proper reach on some of these. “Fairest” is absolutely not a reference to skin colour!
