February 24th will mark a year since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began. And to mark the occasion, U.S. President joe biden will be travelling to neighbouring Poland , even as Ukrainian President Volodmyr Zelensky rallies European Nations to arm his troops in efforts to defeat the Russian onslaught. So are there any gains in this conflict, who has benefitted from the war so far, is the West supplying Ukraine with weapons, fanning the war or causing a distraction? WION’s Eric Njoka speaks to Robert Bell, a distinguished professor of the practice at the Georgia Institute of Technology, for a perspective.

This Idiot Robert Bell oversaw the US & NATO's destruction of Yugoslavia, a real unprovoked war, like Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria Ukraine-Coup-2014 Yemen and now the provocation of Russia. Calling NATO a Defensive Alliance is like calling the NAZIS in Ukraine as democratic. US Generals, NATO heads and Heads of State have admitted that the US and NATO never wanted Peace in Ukraine, nor with Russia. Merkel stated that NATO never negotiated in Good faith to establish the Minsk Peace Accords which would have gauranteed Peace and Ukraine sovereignty; which Putin had worked towards and hoped for, over eight years. The initial SMO was meant to gain a Peaceful Ukraine, supported by Russia on oneside with Security gaurantees, the EU on the other, but excluding NATO. to stop the constant encroachment by NATO/the US missile systems sorrounding Russia. We need to remember that neither the US, nor any European country or Israel would allow a highly dangerous nation or alliance of warmongers to set up Missile systems right on their doorstep. Yet we are told that NATO is merely defensive??? and that it's Putin who is the crazed madman who wants to expand the Russian empire at any cost which is Pure Propagandized BS!!! NATO allies have destroyed Russian trading partners constantly over the last 30 years, the CIA, MI6 US special forces have intervened and destabilized democratic countries around the world over 70+ years. the US has weaponized it's control over the Global financial system, which alone has killed Millions as it is doing great harm in Syria today, the US is illegally occupying Syria, with multiple military bases and using those US service personnel to Steal and transport 80% of Syria's oil production out of the country, without a cent in compensation for the Syrian people! Syria like Turkey has been devastated by this latest earthquake, calls have been made by multiple countries to lift these sanctions on humanitarian grounds. US Penatgon and State department spokespeople have absolutely rejected this, which will gaurantee the deaths of many Thousands of Syrians as a Result. These inhumane actions combined with the Constant warmongering and global destabilizing of the US in ways to ensure profitable outcomes for the US Military Industrial corporations is why BRICS has drawn a Redline with Ukraine. Background: Ukraine was given independence in 1993, after the Soviet Union collapsed, Russia still maintained it's Black sea fleet in Sevastopol-Crimea as it had done since 1776. Russia had an agreement to lease Sevastopol from Crimea, (an Autonomous region within Ukraine, where over 50% of people identified as Russian rather than Ukrainian).Russia was also prmitted to have military equipment & up to 30,000 troops in Ukraine at anytime. remembering that Ukraine and Russia were part of the soviet union & that All of Ukraines military equipment had been left by the Soviet Union. Ukraine had 40+ Million citizens in 2014, Russia had 140 million, Since this time Russia has seen 1-2 Million East Ukraine refugees enter Russia over the last eight years, Ukraine has seen 15 Million+ people leave, Ukraine in 2014 had a democratically elected Government of viktor Yanacovich; (No doubt a corrupt and authoritarian Government, but still elected) In 2014 the Maidan Protests had started encouraging Ukraine to join the EU, the CIA which has a Long history in destabilizing and corrupting Ukraine worked with the State department/Victoria Nuland-psychopathic neocon who spent $5 Billion USD to weaponize the Maidan Protests, hire agent provocateurs, Geogian snipers to shoot at both sides, working with George Soros the Maidan protests became the colour revolution the CIA had desired and perfected in so many other countries around the world. (At the crux of the protests was that the Ukraine government was corrupt and the Ukraine economy was bankrupt, people were diseffected… and saw the EU as this prosperous shining example of capitalism as opposed to the corrupt disfunctional collapsed Soviet Union communist state. What happened next was that the IMF had been called in to offer loans to Ukraine, (with harsh Austerity conditions). Putin wanted to maintain Ukraine as an Ally and saw the EU as inseperable to NATO which appeared to be gunning for Russia. Putin Offered Yanakovich a far better deal than the IMF with NO conditions; (increased gas royalties, increased investment in manufacturing & Infastructure, etc). The EU asked Yanakovich to bring the election forward by two weeks, But on learning about the new Russian deal, the CIA, US state department etc initiated a Coup in Kiev and installed Yatsenyuk as an unelected president as a US puppet. (Victoria Nuland called this "furthering Democracy in Ukraine"???) This sparked the Ukraine civil war, with Ukraine-AZOV NAZIS, from Kiev going to East Ukraine and murdering dozens of East Ukraine Russian speaking civilians, burning a group of Local Government officials to death inside there council building in Odessa. Crimeans saw this and requested to rejoin Russia immediately as did two breakaway rejions in East Ukraine, the Donbass and Lughansk Oblasts. Russia wanted to maintain good relations with Ukraine but also secure it's blacksea fleet and access to the Black sea. so Putin requested the Russian military to secure Crimea so the people could formally vote in a referendum on rejoining Russia, Putin also began Peace talks with Ukraine and the break away rejions, in Minsk-1 peace talks, which fell apart fairly quickly, with neither side allowing any respite from hostilities: (it should be noted that the break away rejion malitias were beating the Ukraine military back and had surrounded a large group of Ukraine military personnel, as the Minsk-2 Peace talks were underway, France and Germany proposed they would be gaurantors for ukraine able to pressure Ukraine to adhere to the Peace treaty. This was called the Normandy format. Eight years on Ukraine never implemented any aspects of Minsk-2 and Merkel came out after her resignation to say France and germany had no intention of getting Ukraine to implent the peace accords; Instead those eight years were used by Ukraine and NATO to train the Ukraine military to be NATO compatable, to fortify offensive and deefensive positions around Ukraine and to provoke Russia into a war. The US set up and operated 40+ Bioweapons facilities, Ukraine fired artillery into Donetsk City for eight years destroying civilian targets and 12-16,000 civilians, the NAZI battalions were integrated into the Ukraine military and national gaurd, (rather than be disbanded) Zelensky banned the speaking of russian, Ukraine's second language, Zelensky banned any political opposition (including seperatists), the SBU & NAZI battalions carried out covert assassinations and raids on seperatist groups. Despite The US and NATO pushing Ukraine to provoke war with Russia, Ukraine was never given access to the EU or become part of NATO, Ukraine was bankrupt in 2014 and is far worse off today. While Russia, has slowly risen from the ashes of the Soviet Unions collapse, with their GDP increaing tenfold, wages and pensions also increasing tenfold. Putin stamped out much of the corruption in Russia and mosernized the Russian military to a point today where Russia has several far more advanced military systems than all of NATO. despiet this the collective west lea by the US, denegrated Russia as nothing but a gas station impersonating a country, with a backward military no stand alone technology… Despite Russia producing two Hypersonic Missiles years before any of NATO. Despiet Russia having the best integrated Airdefense and area denial systems on the planet. Despiet Russia having a Nuclear powered submarine drone, with unlimited range, loitering capable, and nuclear warhead capable. Russia's Missiles have made the US & NATO carrier battle groups redundant. Russia's Air defense & area denial capabilities take away most of NATO's Air superiority. and despite what Robert Bell thinks are Russia's tank losses and capabilities, It is NOT Russia asking anyone for new tanks, it's Ukraine, after Ukraine had started with 600+ Tanks and Has been resupplied with all the old soviet era tanks that NATO could find, 300+. Russia's Tanks are being produced at 850 yearly, NATO isn't able to produce 150. Russia has over 10,000+ tanks in inventory, not all updated or even working but a hundred times more than Europe today. Russia has massed 1800+ MBT's thousands of IFV's, 2500 new Howitzers, hundreds of Airdefense systems, dozens of MLRS, and scores more weapons along with a constant supply of ammunition and Missiles, which NATO can not match. the UK military came out two weeks ago and admitted the UK's ammunition supplies would last two days in a similar war as is happening in Ukraine today, the US has possibly two months worth of ammunition, for a similar war. Germany and france combined may last a week. yet here we have Russia, the gas station impersonating a country" thriving against the most horrendous sanctions ever imposed on any country in history. Russia is still only preparing to launch it's full offensive into Ukraine to stop NATO from constant military aggression. Russia is winning Ukraine has lost generations of men in a war that should never have happened, if Ukraine and NATO would have implemented Minsk-2 and Ukraine have been allowed to stop the SMO in the Istanbul negotiations scrapped by Boris johnson, "then made illegal by Zelensky". in March 2022!!! Now the EU NA NATO are on th brink of collapse financially and Militarily. the Russian offensive is building and will over-run Ukraine and NATO forces in Ukraine by July at the latest. I predict Ukraine will be devastated and that neither the US or Europe will do mich to rebuild it while russia will do everything to rebuild East Ukraine.

If Russia, as they claim, only campaign(ed) to "liberate" the Donbass/Crimea regions, why would they send tanks on a highway to Kiev, and how is this not a declaration of full scale war against a whole country? And why would a country under siege not fight back, with all obtainable means – and why would the west not support a neighbouring democracy against a brutal dictatorship? I guess this anniversary means that russians will try to launch more missiles and drones. Just to show their inner audience that "everything is according to the plan" and that they achieved something. Which they clearly didn't. Destroyed multiple towns and villages, killed thousands of civilians, occupied a few villages. That's about it. The same scenario we saw in Chechnya – just destroy and capture everything that moves. Terrorizing peaceful cities and civilians is not a new thing for russian army.

US provoked this war with the illegal coup in Kiev 2014. US stopped the energie-flow Russia -> Europe. US will become the new energy provider for Europe. The US energy is much more expensive than the Russian energy for Europe. Europe will be less competitive on the world market because of the new high price energy.
With all these facts, US gets clearly the biggest benefits of the Ukraine war.
In the example of how we allowed Putin to annex part of the Ukrainian territories in 2014, we saw that it is impossible to give respite to the Russian aggressors.
They use any truce only for the accumulation of forces and a new attack.
