Black Desert Online is one of the most polarizing MMORPG games out, some love it, others hate it, the game itself is known for its action combat and top tier character creation as well as being very grindy and pay to win, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with the game for many years so I thought it’d be fun to return to BDO in 2022 to meme on it a bit, check out the newest expansion and class and ultimately see if the game can sink its slimly tentacles back into me again

After i wasted 500 hours, the game is just beautiful outside and hollow too deep inside. Killing the same mobs again and again and gives little rewards are not exciting. Also the coop dungeon here are non existence maybe just 1 for high levels. The combat is fking good and thats all nothing more. Or maybe not cup of my tea, this game is not for fun most likely a job.
ohhhh. I played this game and got to max level and i literally dont remember a single thing at all. I even re-downloaded and still didnt recognize a single character or anything. Watching him go through the npe made it so obvious why haha im pretty sure i was watching netflix at the same time.
I still love this game lmao something about it is so addicting. Probably the constant updates and seasons.
seems weird they would make new players/characters wait so long to do combat since their combat is possibly the funnest feeling thing in the game and usually the main focus of new classes.
As I don't see anyone pointing it out… This questline is story driven… it isn't supposed to be played for the first time (In the selection of what questline you want to play , you have the main questline with "Recommended for beginners" and Everfrost (the new area/questline) with "Not recommended for beginners"… So it's more about the story… if you want to tell from a perspective of a first time player… you should have picked the other questline ..

It's a real shame that this game is so pretty but so soulless at the same time. It lacks life. The combat is great but that's it.
It's sad that BDO is still the only MMO that does the skills good. Life skilling feels great and is the best part of the game, next to how fun the combat feels.
I wish MMO's stopped chasing rollercoaster WoW and integrated better lifeskilling like BDO does.

The best explanation for BLACK DESERT ONLINE… The game designers sat down in a room and looked at every system in an MMO and asked the question "How can we make that system as complex and rewarding as possible". This is the most fulfilling MMO to play for sheer content and true dynamic system complexity.
When the game dropped the story was terrible and you had the black spirit constantly yelling at you to complete the story, which you didn't want to play. So he never stopped yelling XD. Now he no longer talks outside of conversations you initiate and the story actually has some depth to it.
New players need to remember this is not a Completion Based MMO. You don't rush the end game in BDO, because the end game is not obtainable (so don't spend real money on the in-game shop), there is a soft end game but this MMO is constantly moving and mainly focuses on Character and Family Building.
The creators of this MMO are HUGE FAN'S of the Aincrad Arc in Sword Art Online. They wanted to develop a game that gives you access to 5 years worth of content immediately with each system qualifying as a separate game in its own right (PVP, Guild, Life Skilling, Worker Empire Building, Markets, Knowledge Seekers, Player Housing….etc).
I wish someone would have told me this when I started BDO because if you look at this game like other MMOs or RPGs here is what you get.
The feeling of being overwhelmed because there is too much content ((where do I start, how can I possibly do everything) (especially if you are coming from MMOs or RPGs that path-follow)), the struggle with every system being too complex (why can’t I figure out how to PVP, LifeSkill, Player housing…etc (all I am doing is reading/watching walkthroughs), the fear of being left out (It takes too long to master PVP, LifeSkill, Player housing…etc (what if halfway to mastery my friends or I want to do something else (this game makes me think about my own real-life path, I am unsure).
So, to enjoy this game take your time, don’t rush, and embrace the complexity of each system as you learn them. Much like taking steps along your real-life path from School to work and finally a family or empire, remember neither is built in a day.

there's a reason there is dialogue – to listen to it/read it. if you skip all the dialogue, you're playing the wrong style of game. mmoRPGs are about story. im willing to bet all the people who complain a particular mmorpg has a shit story are the ones who skip every piece of dialgoue. smh

This game so confusing..i have no idea where to find velia map..its just too big.
Man, seeing you hit "Collect All Rewards" on the black spirit safe when your inventory was already super un-managed actually hurt to watch, especially since you were literally complaining about inventory and just did it anyways, oof. I came back a month ago and my black spirit safe is like a second bank that has unlimited slots and no weight limit and can only withdraw, so I just keep everything in it until it's needed.
Now I remembered why I can’t play this game, it’s the stupid vignette filter effect that you can’t disable
