Other Audrey Hepburn movies I'd recommend are "How to steal a million", "Breakfast at Tiffanys" and "Sabina". These movies are definitely romantic and much more happier.
Audrey has been my absolute favorite actress for over 20 years. To me she is the most gorgeous woman ever, and best voice ever. She is the complete package – +10 looks, smart and sophisticated, she seems playful. You should definitely watch My Fair Lady, and Charade – two of her best. Side note: Ann Hathaway has always given me Audrey Vibes.
TRUE ROMANCE …. . . Leave them WANTING MORE!
Probably answered by now, but colour movies weren't widespread until 1967. Before that any colour movie was an oddity and stylistic choice, just like any movie after that in B&W is an oddity and a stylistic choice. (I'm generalizing, but you get the general idea)
The movie is in black and white because the director had a strict budget. It was either on location in Rome, Italy. Or in color. Not both. I think he chose well!
Now that you watched her first movie, I highly recommend her last. Always by Stephen Spielberg. Also Robin and Marian
I've never seen This Movie before Now. Let's Enjoy! 😊👌👍🍁♈
That part where the statue will bite your hand off if you lie. Gregory Peck did that thing on a whim, and Audrey Hepburn was surprised for real. So her laugh is not acting, it is Audrey laughing.
Fascinating woman. It seems her peculiar accent is something to do with growing up in occupied Netherlands during WW2 and being connected to the Resistance during the occupation.
BreaKfast at Tiffany’s next then. 😊
Because of this movie, the Trevi Fountain is one of the biggest tourist spots in Rome. When I was there it was packed, barely room to move through the crowd.
Fun Fact: Gregory improvised losing his hand in the Mouth of Truth scene. Audrey had no idea what would happen. Her reaction is 100% real. The chemistry between them is amazing. Also when they screen tested her for the role, the producer instructed the cameraman to keep rolling after he called cut. Her interactions convinced him she was a once in a generation talent. You're so right – when she is on screen you can't look away.
Hi Cassie, I`m glad you enjoyed this film, although you did not get the ending you would have preferred. I think you would enjoy a film Gregory Peck made 2 yrs before this one. It is called Captain Horatio Hornblower & Co-stars Virginia Mayo. It is an action film but I would say it has a romantic undercurrent.
Gregory Peck was so handsome and charming.
You should check out the Audrey films Funny Face and Paris When it Sizzles. She’s great though in everything she’s in.
Color film was more expensive, so the fact that this was shot in black and white was most likely a budgetary thing.
How lovely is your channel, when you are picking up movies like this!
16:37 “A-a-are these yours?”
“Yes.”
Frantically rifling under the sheet.
“Did you lose something?”
Relieved sigh, “No.”
In 1953, there was still a high chance that a 24-year-old woman, especially one from the upper class, had <something> to lose, especially as she woke up in a strange man’s bed after a night she didn’t remember.
I was looking forward to seeing our gracious hostess react to the situation, to see how morals may have changed in the last seventy years, but I was disappointed.
Audrey Hepburn is the ultimate timeless universal crush.
Unfortunately, the political realities of the time meant that the Princess and Joe Bradley ending up together is less likely than Hodor marrying a Lannister princess.
if you want to watch something for black history month you should watch the Mini-series Roots.
Thank you so much !
I ❤️ Audrey Hepburn and I ❤️ Gregory Peck…
To continue seeing Audrey at her best, please do watch My Fair Lady, How To Still a Million and Sabrina.
For Gregory Peck, I love Cape Fear (1962) and Mirage.
Now that you have discovered those two great ones, you will love these movies.
Françoise from France 🇫🇷
It’s a shame you didn’t enjoy the movie!(kidding) You were so invested!
Eddy Albert is sure young. Especially after watching him on Green Acres
The true ending is that she's a princess and understood her responsibilities, which transcend any personal desires. Sorry, Cassie.
I used to have such a crush on Roman Holiday Audrey Hepburn.
You should do more black & white movies. There are so many good ones and the younger generation has yet to discover them. There is a movie (not romantic) called "A Stranger in Town" that I think you would really enjoy. Here is the YouTube link if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGof8LxwH24&t=1s.
I'm in love with Audrey Hepburn. You gotta watch Breakfast at Tiffany's. It would be one of my favorite movies except for that one scene.
Grosse Pointe Blank.
Bette Davis, Now Voyager.. etc etc So many!
This is Audrey's first movie so great one to watch first. She gives a good sense of bein in love, as does Gregory Peck.
A wonderful reaction, Cassie. It's a great film, you should do more of her films, I really think that you'd enjoy them, "Sabrina" ("Sabrina Fair" in the U.K.) from 1954, "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "My Fair Lady", later on "Charade" and "Wait Until Dark", I promise that you won't be disappointed with any of these as they're all great films.
If you liked Gregory Peck in this, then you should watch "To Kill a Mockingbird." Not a romance, not a crime movie, but very heartwarming. He plays a widower with 2 small children.
One of your reviews needs to be another Gregory Peck film: TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD!
Eddie Albert long before he would star on TV's Green Acres.
You seemed to love Gregory Peck also, like so many others. If you are into romantic and suspense films, please do watch Spellbound (1945) by the director Alfred Hitchcock starring Gregory Peck and Ingrid Bergman! I think it is Peck's breakthrough film. Another movie classic in general, starring Peck: "To KIll A Mocking Bird".
It was great to follow your reactions to this wonderful film, and to two great actors Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. My two favourite Gregory Peck films are "To kill a Mockingbird" and "The Big Country". Audrey Hepburn made some great movies but one of her last films was "Robin and Marian" from 1976, it tells the tale of Robin Hood returning from the Crusades as an old man and reuniting with Maid Marian, Robin is played by Sean Connery., the film was made in 1976.
Love RH ! and your review bought it all back and made me cry at the end !! LoL
Another wonderful romance movie that I think you will enjoy, is The World of Suzie Wong, staring William Holden and Nancy Kwan. It was very controversial at the time but probably not so much these days, it's the story of an American artist that falls in love with a beautiful Hong Kong prostitute.
Another great picture with Audrey Hepburn is CHARADE with legend Carey Grant. It has twists and turns and he was the ultimate leading man in his day. And of course, BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S. Enjoy
Nice Sean Connery! You’ve got to say, in a Connery accent, from the movie Entrapment, when he saw Catherine Zeta Jones in formal wear: …”That’s a lovely dress!” …. Seriously!
If you want to see that man again in an amazing performance, then watch The Big Country. It's a Western but it also strongly features romance. You won't be disappointed.
She was so cute, and I felt so sorry for him when he walked away and looked back, you need to watch "To Kill a Mockingbird" with him it's not a love story but it's Gregory Peck's favorite movie and I would say his best movie, it's an Academy Award-winning film
Thank you for reacting to this movie. Subscribed! I have to say, I watch a lot of reaction videos and lately, I've been so disappointed in the selection of what people are reacting to. Why are people reacting to things like Gremlins 2 when they haven't even seen Roman Holiday yet? I know that they can't please me all the time . . . everyone has different tastes, you have to cover a wide spectrum of movies, but come on! I look all the time for something decent and lately these reactors aren't reacting to anything that interests me. And they all seem to react to the same stuff.
The prank where Gregory Peck put his hand in the mouth of truth, it was not scripted, Gregory Peck did it as a prank, so the reaction of Audrey Hepburn is real…
I think I saw this a few times on TV back in the 70s. These old movies are just so dated.
