Can you please explore with family with kids in mind and at the time of filming mention the actual prices on things you are seeing or pointing so we can tell how expensive or cheap things actually are. Appreciate your vids!

46:30 The building now under construction, covered by a blue sheet, will be completed at the end of August this year and officially open in next Spring. It is most likely to become an iconic building in Harajuku area when opened. When I saw the render, no doubt it will be an eye-catching unique design building which will house many shops and restaurants. I don't know if offices will be in that building.
Hey John This part of Harajuku is mega famous and youtubers have done hundreds of street views it's the mecca for high end sneakers street clothes retro thrifting street fashion. This is my jam my man lol. Also HUF is an American skateboard brand. I could tell you heaps about the stores you went past yes TOKYO23 Is a store for Jordan Sneakers 🤘

Hey John just a idea , why not show a bit more of cultural ( not just traditional ) activities in Tokyo ( museum galleries and bookstore and also dance and performing arts ) activities

That TGI Fridays is where you go to meet American wrestlers when a big event is in town. A bunch of them refuse to eat non-western food, many of them are from areas where they always talk about hunting and fishing, but apparently don't actually eat the latter. I've been reading a fascinating book about mob involvement in Japan after the war called Tokyo Underworld by Robert Whiting, and wrestling was a big part of it. Japanese people saw these giant Americans walking around, and of course WW2, and watching the local guy take out the big American was really great for morale. The Americans of course were well compensated for their scripted defeats and happy to do the job. I'd love to see if my favorite Okonomiyaki place is still there. You turn right off of omotesando where Jonathan's was and take your first left, it's right across from all the vending machines, which last I checked still had a Pepsi Lemon ad on it a decade after it died in the US, and before TGI fridays. Don't know the name, just how to get there 🙂
Kiddyland didn't move from another shop. For some reason they decided to demolish the building that was full of history and rebuild it. They temporarily moved around the corner. This was all 10 years ago. It's always been next to Shakey's. There also at least used to be a family selling used Kimono across from the now Tommy Hilfiger on weekends
Almost at the one-month mark before I set foot in Japan for the first time. I appreciate the tips and looking forward to trying out that Takoyaki for the first time too. Really looking forward to it! ><
Great stream and as a sneakerhead my self, seeing some of the well known North American boutique shops in Harajuku looks really booming and interesting. Saw you passed by Atmos and it's one of few must go to check out Japan owned sneaker shop. As well, fashion and sneaker culture is quite big in Japan too.

I remember how badly I wanted to go to Harajuku when I was a teenager in the early 2000s. I’m finally going for the first time in a month and a half and honestly it looks like it’s mostly big brand stores now. 😩 That’s disappointing

Cat Street used to be a canal/water way. if you noticed some of the few very old structure/house there are facing away from the street

what strikes me, is that its so much american/international fashion there now. sneakers, hiphop style. not much typical japanese fashion left.
